I'm sure the movie Black Swan gave more people a better apreciation of ballet, but no one can completely apreciate what these dancers do, and what pain they go through, until they have done it themselves.

My Grandfather was a choreographer of a ballet company which traveled throughout europe before the second world war. He is gone now but the impression of the beauty of dance remains in our family. I have never seen the black swan and may never see it, ballet needs no film to remind us of its magic- it only needs a mind that is open and intelligent enough to perceive its beauty.

I'm watching this because ever since I was kid I'd listen to the music on a vynil player. But I think Black Swan made people aware of how beautiful ballet is, and hopefully some of them will go see it and enjoy it!

@teaandcoffee11 When I first saw the preview for Black Swan I was very ecxited because it looked like a wonderful ballet movie until about half way through the preview when it turned around and became scary. I know that in Swan Lake Odile and her father are eveil, but I don't see why they had to make it such a scary movie. I really would have liked to seen it but I just can't stand scary movies. And I certainlly don't understand how people LIKE watching things that scare them!

When I was about 7 years old, Stuttgart's Ballet preformed in Israel with Swan Lake and my mom bought us tickets which costed a fortune! She didn't spare on me.

I studied ballet for 1 year but my thing was really piano, and Tchaikovsky was my favorite. We had 50 records for gramophone (23 years ago) of the greatest composers+ booklets, and I listened to the swan lake since ever.

Went to see swan lake in Dublin on Sunday. The Russian state ballet including the two principal dancers from the bolshoi. It was magnificent. What a show!!

I dont see how it would make any difference whether people wanted to see it because of the movie - any reason to be interested in this incredible ballet piece - whether it's watching the film or not is to encouraged no?
