@leffer11 - I think everything about this song (and especially the video) are awesomely epic, well done Leffer - I have a fanboy question....the runes that appear on the two gravestones, what does that mean?
@greghell from what I received from Rob (Baron), it's Celt scribe or script for "Rejoice, the Great God fear is dead". So I broke it up to fit accordingly on the runes. Cheers!
@AgoliantMystified Being the creator of the animation, I am far from corny anything....and I am the farthest thing from metal. Not liking the song is perfectly fine, but note that Amebix's imagery has influenced me since the late 80's and knowing them all too well, I can say that it's exactly how AMEBIX has been portrayed throughout the ages.
@leffer11 Been a fan since the 1st single, and although I love everything they've done, I consider the Spiderleg releases the 'real' Amebix. This is fucking brilliant though. Love the video (The bird's a bit unconvincing in parts, but I imagine that's down to time constaints). Fucking good job... pushed me to start writing songs again after about 10 years, which is no small thing.

Sweet mother of fuck this is terrible. I'm convinced this isn't Amebix, this must be any other generic radio rock band with old school crust legends name tacked on it
the beginning sounds like the old band live. Lightning fuckin crashes. the video is done well i guess, but again just the fact that this exists complete with the flight of the digi bird is a direct slap in the face of everything they stood for as a band and have instilled into the most diehard ambix fan. I mean fuck, what is lil brian supposed to do with his amebix tattoo now? donate it to science for the research needed to make sure other old awesome 'crust' bands dont follow the same path.
@jjchaos I am that absolute, diehard AMEBIX fan, and they wanted me to create the "digi-bird" for this particular story. A slap in the face? Not even close....more of a privilege to be a part of it. This was an honor to do something for such genuinely REAL people. This is what the true spirit of punk is about. This isn't a "comeback", this is their evolution into what they are suppose to do. NGNM
Why the hell did they feel the need to write new soungs when they OBVIOUSLY have no new idea? They sound like an old metal band trying to imitate contemporary stuff like Neurosis or Isis and all that post-whatever shit in order to sound 'fresh' or 'trendy' and all that crap... which is ridiculous since they were a huge influence on Neurosis in the first place!!
I really don't like the clean vocals at all. Too polished, and definitely not Amebix. It reminds some gothic rock band, like Anathema, or... vocals on the 2nd half, are pretty decent.
Even the music is more focused on the keyboards (which I don't dislike) and not so much on the guitars.
All in all, it's not a bad song. It's obvious Roy Mayorga brought a freshness in the band. However, I feel like they're crossing that line of rawness and primitivism they had in the past. Well, I guess we shall see. No matter what, I'm looking forward to getting their new 12".
Cheers and love to all for the positive feedback. What an amazing opportunity it was to work side by side with them. Really, a dream come true for me. These guys have evolved into something so amazing and genuine.Love to Fin McAteer for help in directing this piece. This was done in a short amount of time, in regards to the magnitude of work given. Wouldn't trade it for the world! NGNM, Andy
So far, this decidedly falls behind my fondness of the reinterpretations of older material they made for the "Redux" EP. The guitars could (or should?) be much more powerful and heavy, the drum work more energetic and varied (as it had been in the past), although it's still definitely Amebix. But I do enjoy the classic synthesizer, and Rob pulls off a really great peformance that sends shivers down my spine. - I am, for one, really excited for the full album.
Love this band- and have done since those original releases. It's good to hear that the band has progressed rather than be stuck in some mid-80's time bubble, and personally I don't think that the dark rawness has in any way been diminished, merely reigned in and controlled. Video has some nice "Amebix past" references- and is really slickly executed. congrats to all involved. Really looking forward to the album!
@sonorpaiste702 Actually his voice reminds me of Jaz Coleman's voice while the music itself sounds like Neurosis. That kind of sublimity at the beginning reminds me of Stones from the sky. But the fact is that Amebix influenced Neurosis.
I appreciate that many people may like this, but for me they seem to have lost that dark rawness that made them the fore runners of crust, that inspired so many great bands.
Great video but fuck me this new music really is a step backwards. I liked the second part of the song but it's really not my thing. Sounds too much like bad radio rock.
@amebixvideos I could give a much more eloquent and long review, but Then no one would read it :] Don't get me wrong, I'm a long time Amebix fan, but this sounds like type O negative for a while!! Just not my cup of tea! I'd take slave over this a hundred times, no hard feelings :P
Um... Am I the only one that thinks this kinda sucks? I love Amebix, but the clean vocals in this song really don't do it for me. The second half of the song isn't too bad I suppose.
@BirsaGomorraBeach The vocals come in with the beat of the drums and do you really think that after waiting for 20 years they would make a mistake with the timing of the vocals? The least anyone could do is show them respect for their determination and hard work instead of insulting their music.
@roisinmog i didn't mean to insult anyone, especially one of my favourite bands of all time. It just sounded weird to me for that very same reason: noone who played music so long would make a mistake like that. Is not liking this song a lack of respect to them?

@leffer11 You're the creator of the animation? Why do the stones say "Regoice The Great" and "God Fear Is Dead"?
