Oh Sookie. You can be such a badass sometimes...and then you go back to Bill. You need to wake up and realize Bill will never be good enough for you and you belong with Eric. Eric was really sweet at the end of this scene.
I like Bill a lot because he an interesting character but I don't like him with Sookie at all. Sookie is too good for him and she needs to wake up and realize that. Sookie and Eric are a much better couple.

All this talk about betrayal I find funny,yes it looks bad but at that point he was on mission sent by his queen.When he gets to know her she falls in love and start protecting her,and by doing that he betrays his queen,later lie to king and Nan.He risk a lot by lying to them,maybe even true death.I dont think he tries to kill Eric because he is afraid,he wants to protect her,Eric sells her out to the king.
@zoric82 Oh for god's sake, Eric didn't sell her out to anyone, he was determined to wait fro Russell to kill him rather than use Sookie, but then Pam persuaded him that he should do something because if he didn't Russell would get to Sookie anyway. So he devised a plan which would have resulted in Sookie, Pam and Bill alive, and Russell dead. And Eric would die with him. Bill KNEW eric's plan was the only way to save all of them, he only tried to kill Eric because he was afraid of losing her.

In fact, his lies to Sookie only put her in more danger, but the writers don't give a shit about Sookie so maybe that doesn't matter...
Bill has no sense of honor whatsoever. He tried to kill Eric because he wanted Sookie for himself. That's pathetic. At least Eric was honest with her.

He feels a huge debt of gratitude for what she did there, plus basically he just likes her fire and her loyalty. that's it really. He never hid his agenda from her, if anything he hid his emotional attachment. If you don't realize this you really don't get the character ...

In the books: 1) Godric isn't Eric's maker, so he sends Sookie to Dallas because Dallas asks for her, as a job. And he goes with her undercover for aditional protection. 2) Bill goes to Lorena because he wants to be with her, and he plans to pension Sookie off and place her under Eric's protection. 3) Even Bill says that Eric wants to mainstream, so he never tortures Lala in the basement.

The Ratts beating wasn't even mentioned once in season 4, yet we have to endlessly hear about all the "horrible" things Eric's done...

In the books, Eric's ALWAYS the one who gets to help Sookie. He stakes Long Shadow, he heals Sookie from the Maenad attack, he helps her at Russell's and gives her his blood to heal her, he saves Sookie from the witch, he kills the witch... Why Alan Ball gave all those scenes to Bill I will never understand. He says Bill and Sookie are "soulmates". Well, buddy, definitely NOT in the books. God, it makes me so angry...
@Albolu I know, I know, but after season 3 I was still hoping he'd let the dynamic between the characters evolve in a way that felt closer to the books. Also, I genuinely thought the show itself was already naturally going in that direction. That's why season 4 feels like a total mess to me: their efforts to keep Bill in the picture have made everything else somewhat forced and implausible.I just don't buy it anymore. Also Bill tried to kill Eric after offering his hand and shaking Eric's. That's a big deal between men, especially if you go back to Eric's time. Bill has no honor or common sense. Bill is lucky that Eric didn't kill him after this stunt. Having Sookie dump him was a worse punishment.
When Bill and Eric had their little stand-off outside Jason's house, and Sookie caught them and asked what truth they were talking about, Eric could have spilled the beans on Bill then. But he didn't because he didn't want to hurt Sookie, and he figured if Sookie dumped Bill then, there would be noone left to protect her. Bill knew this. How shitty and dishonorable of Bill to try to kill Eric after Eric agreed to give up his life to save them all. Fuck you, Bill.
Clearly Bill never heard the expression "keep your friends close and your friends closer." Otherwise, he would have seen the wisdom of keeping Eric alive to help protect Sookie. The only reason Bill tried to kill Eric was to protect his personal blood fountain.

Bill is a liar and a douchcanoe! In season one I liked him and was iffy about Eric. Then start of season 2 I started to dislike Bill because he was really talking down to Sookie and Eric was showing his respect. The in season three I couldnt stand Bill at all and just wanted Eric to end him...at least in season four, Eric throws Bill around a lot, the fireplace is a good place for Bill.
Here's the problem I have with Bill compared to Eric. Eric's flaws were always on the surface. We always knew he could be be cruel and even self serving at times. But Bill, since day one, always tried to act like he was different than Eric--better even. And Sookie trusted him whole-heartedly only to find out that he had let her get beat, almost to the point of the death, just so he could manipulate her into falling in love with him.
How can anyone say that Eric has Sookie's best interests at heart?? He only cares about himself. He's an in-sensitive jerk. Sookie actually really pisses me off at the end of this season. Like, if she really loved Bill I think she'd listen to what he'd have to say. I agree, Bill did have, well, a less then nice reason to begin with...but he did fall in love with her. You can't fake the blood-tears!
This makes me fucking cry. I mean, come on! Why is Eric much better than Bill? They both have their faults and goodies. Stop hating on them. They're almost equal when it comes to Sookie. And we will never know what goes on in either of their heads.
@mattepattekaffelatte I actually mostly agree with you. I was thinking about their pros and cons and if you're really honest they are pretty much the same in the con department. They have both done evil jerky things. i think there is a huge difference when you add up their pros though, the main one being that Eric is a hot ,powerful, confident, snarky Viking god who could eat Bill if he felt like it. Bill just isn' that impressive in comparison no matter how many states he rules.

He has never hurt Sookie like Bill has. He would never have her beat just to have her. Yes he tricked her into drinking his blood but that is nothing like Bill did to her. Bill started out for his own gain. I say, Eric and Sookie all the way! Eric is sexy with a boyish charm even when he is ruthless. Love him!

I don't care what people say. Bill and Sookie have a better relationship on-screen. Yes, they have a bonus because they're married in real life. However, that doesn't stop me from loving their tender moments. They're not as cheesy as Eric/Sookie's moments. Eric/Sookie's relationship/love seems less believable than Bill/Sookie's love despite how Bill betrayed her. I just thought it was a disappointment on Bill's character.

I miss bill and sookie being together! She had such chemistry with bill and I watched the new episodes with her with eric and I am still not sold. @chasingponies Aside from the fact that book characters are quite different from tv, The amnesia plot line was meant to allow both Eric and Sookie to let down their guards and see what they could do together. Also, the most interesting part is the struggle that comes after it, and that leads them to get together again down the line.
So, if their is this really really horrible guy and a really horrible guy, you should go for the latter? Why doesn't Sookie just give it up and fuck Sam?

ugh..bill is annoying. he is a gargoyle compared to eric, especially since he's gotten way more unattractive since season 1. plus, in the books, bill is really strange. really inconsiderate and only wanting sookie's blood from day one.
Eric's highhanded; he acts on behalf of other people, because he knows what's best for them, but he never consults the ones involved beforehand. I would say that's his biggest fault, but he has never purposefully hurt Sookie in any way. That's the difference between him and Bill.

@venusironmaiden Well, Eric's agenda in regards to Sookie has always been very clear: at first he was intrigued and attracted by her gift, then his interest slowly became more personal especially around Godric's death. He feels a huge debt of gratitude for what she did there, plus basically he just likes her fire and her loyalty. that's it really. He never hid his agenda from her, if anything he hid his emotional attachment. If you don't realize this you really don't get the character ...

@venusironmaiden This is hard evidence of the way Alan Ball has harmed Eric's character to benefit Bill's. In the books: 1) Godric isn't Eric's maker, so he sends Sookie to Dallas because Dallas asks for her, as a job. And he goes with her undercover for aditional protection. 2) Bill goes to Lorena because he wants to be with her, and he plans to pension Sookie off and place her under Eric's protection. 3) Even Bill says that Eric wants to mainstream, so he never tortures Lala in the basement.

It really makes me laugh to see how Sookie has now apparently gone through all the stages of grief in a WEEK and is ready to forgive Bill everything, and even ask for HIS forgivance...
The Ratts beating wasn't even mentioned once in season 4, yet we have to endlessly hear about all the "horrible" things Eric's done...
This scene might as well be an allucination, for all the impact it's had on the show since then... which is zero.

In the books, Eric's ALWAYS the one who gets to help Sookie. He stakes Long Shadow, he heals Sookie from the Maenad attack, he helps her at Russell's and gives her his blood to heal her, he saves Sookie from the witch, he kills the witch... Why Alan Ball gave all those scenes to Bill I will never understand. He says Bill and Sookie are "soulmates". Well, buddy, definitely NOT in the books. God, it makes me so angry...

@Albolu I know, I know, but after season 3 I was still hoping he'd let the dynamic between the characters evolve in a way that felt closer to the books. Also, I genuinely thought the show itself was already naturally going in that direction. That's why season 4 feels like a total mess to me: their efforts to keep Bill in the picture have made everything else somewhat forced and implausible.I just don't buy it anymore. O well, what can you do?

Ball has erased all of that just because he has a Bill boner. It's kind of pathetic. In the books, Sookie is so over Bill it's not even funny. When Bill and Eric had their little stand-off outside Jason's house, and Sookie caught them and asked what truth they were talking about, Eric could have spilled the beans on Bill then. But he didn't because he didn't want to hurt Sookie, and he figured if Sookie dumped Bill then, there would be noone left to protect her. Bill knew this. How shitty and dishonorable of Bill to try to kill Eric after Eric agreed to give up his life to save them all. Fuck you, Bill.

Bill is a liar and a douchcanoe! In season one I liked him and was iffy about Eric. Then start of season 2 I started to dislike Bill because he was really talking down to Sookie and Eric was showing his respect. The in season three I couldnt stand Bill at all and just wanted Eric to end him...at least in season four, Eric throws Bill around a lot, the fireplace is a good place for Bill.

Here's the problem I have with Bill compared to Eric. Eric's flaws were always on the surface. We always knew he could be be cruel and even self serving at times. But Bill, since day one, always tried to act like he was different than Eric--better even. And Sookie trusted him whole-heartedly only to find out that he had let her get beat, almost to the point of the death, just so he could manipulate her into falling in love with him.

Like, if she really loved Bill I think she'd listen to what he'd have to say. I agree, Bill did have, well, a less then nice reason to begin with...but he did fall in love with her. @mattepattekaffelatte I actually mostly agree with you. I was thinking about their pros and cons and if you're really honest they are pretty much the same in the con department. They have both done evil jerky things. i think there is a huge difference when you add up their pros though, the main one being that Eric is a hot ,powerful, confident, snarky Viking god who could eat Bill if he felt like it. Bill just isn' that impressive in comparison no matter how many states he rules.

Eric has always put Sookie's best interest ahead of everything even when it didn't seem like it. Yes he was cruel to some but he was following the laws that govern his vampire world. He has never hurt Sookie like Bill has. He would never have her beat just to have her. Yes he tricked her into drinking his blood but that is nothing like Bill did to her. Bill started out for his own gain. I say, Eric and Sookie all the way! Eric is sexy with a boyish charm even when he is ruthless. Love him!

I don't care what people say. Bill and Sookie have a better relationship on-screen. Yes, they have a bonus because they're married in real life. However, that doesn't stop me from loving their tender moments. They're not as cheesy as Eric/Sookie's moments. Eric/Sookie's relationship/love seems less believable than Bill/Sookie's love despite how Bill betrayed her. I just thought it was a disappointment on Bill's character.

@chasingponies Aside from the fact that book characters are quite different from tv, The amnesia plot line was meant to allow both Eric and Sookie to let down their guards and see what they could do together. Also, the most interesting part is the struggle that comes after it, and that leads them to get together again down the line.

@ZalRB1 I'm totally agree!Eric rising up to the porch is one of my favourite scene at all and I think he looks even better (yeah, I know it's difficult better than usually) with his hair messed up!! It's better don't talk about liar, manipulator, cockblock Bill's odd toupee !

ugh..bill is annoying. he is a gargoyle compared to eric, especially since he's gotten way more unattractive since season 1. plus, in the books, bill is really strange. really inconsiderate and only wanting sookie's blood from day one.

Eric's highhanded; he acts on behalf of other people, because he knows what's best for them, but he never consults the ones involved beforehand. I would say that's his biggest fault, but he has never purposefully hurt Sookie in any way. That's the difference between him and Bill.

bill will say and do anything to destroy sookie's true happiness. what i dont get is why is she so stubborn that she cant see the depth of eric's true feelings?
Notice TRUE has been said a lot in that sense. Something Eric is and Bill will never be.
