Brother, this is brilliant. If you're a failure, I'm a worthless piece of shit.
So you're not on MTV. That doesn't make you a failure. You're a terrifically talented folk-singer. Folk-singers don't make a lot of money, excluding the Mommas and Poppas and Bob Dylan. If your definition of success is invoking emotion in others, you've succeeded beyond all measure.
I don't like everything you've done, but that song was brilliant, and I'm going to try to double the amount of views. Well done, sir.
wow.. haven't listened to this song for a loong while now.. but still.. i love it, I still think it is absolutely true & I still love the way you play & sing & everything about it. (:
maybe I'm gonna check this video every few years or months & tell you again that it's a wonderful song. (;
So, Colin, here you are, still trying to make sense of the world. In what way have you failed at life? I don't think you would ever have wanted to do the things necessary to 'succeed' in this life.....
All humans also need "Land Make Believe." Why? The song says much of it better than me, but in principe, the evil that humans do. Yes, humans can be good and so on, but many things such as mercy, justice are often naught but illsuions. But these illusions, made by human mind, still from time to time exist. What we believe, we do. And let that belief be that of children. Yes, they can be bothersome buggers at times, but a child innocent and belief in goodness is wonderful. Colin, you're the best!
I agree, you did not fail in life Colin. Failure is defined by ones own opinion. A man owning naught but the clothes on his body, and only with money enough for food for the day may be a happier and more succesful man than one living in a great million-dollar mansion. What you have to do is simply to decide what matters in life for you - and go for it. Money? Family? Religion? Or just being who you chose to be, and not following modern society's guidelines for thinking and living? You decide
You didn't "fail in life," you just saw things, for what they were. They kill the "Make believe" world, because it is too close to The Inner Light and people that feel the Inner Light, cannot be enslaved. Hold on Buddy, because your time is near--millions of people around the world, are tapping into their Inner Light and every time the "Unenlightened," hear one of your songs, it plants a seed-- Brother you are brilliant.
The belief, that we are all inter-connected through our consciousness and that we are nothing more than the lest of us. The belief, that when we lift ourselves, we lift others. The Belief that we can only be free, when we are left alone to innately feel what we believe, instead of letting others create our reality. Recognizing our inner light, the core in every human being, will never lie to us, but strengthen us in our humanness and compassion.

I think you're a man who has really understood something.. the land 'called make believe' is very important for children.. for adults as well, but they say it isn't.. ;)
I love this song.. You're a great man, god bless you :D

PS: I'm austrian, So I'm very very very sorry for mistakes in my comment :]
I hated when people always told me to grow up as a kid when I read fantasy and did things like that.
I still do it though. I play D&D, write, and do things like that which let me still have my so-called "childish" enjoyment. If I have to choose between 'growing up' and being realistic and miserable or being 'childlike' and actually enjoying life.
I loved your "Song of Durin"; this song was very nice. QUESTION: I would love to use this song here as background music in my NEPHILIM video; it's just about this subject of enlightenment. Or maybe you could write one like it fashioned for it. Credit given of course.
This song was shocking to me for you sang every word I have felt for years!
