  • Nice analogy about human nature. Insightful and true. Great review on the gear pod as well. I came across these after looking for reviews of the Gerber/Bear Grylls "Ultimate Kit." I think I would put my money on this instead.

  • Great job, and thank you for actually reviewing the items. Wonderfully done, thanks again. Take care to you and your family.

  • As To Bein afraid of the dark out in the wild... I Spend 5 months in colorado doing that... being Completely alone... What i had to Worry about was, black bear, coyotes, elk, deer and mt. lions.... I was Still Fine and Completely at piece i cant wate Till i Go back! :D

  • great job john..i was wondering..couls the "tubes" of the pod be used to carry water..as in you get in the situation..you pull out the gear pods from the tubes and place them in your pockets..could you then use the empty tubes as a water transport device..the handy carrier would seem to be a good way to carry quite a lot of water...safe journeys

  • Good review. Nothing like going out and practicing. Though.. I think the Gear pod is pricey and is something I could build (better even) for a fraction of the cost.. Thanks for another good vid.

  • Great video brother.

  • Good. vid. Good points on why people are afraid of being alone in the woods at night.

  • not too sure the Hollywood image has a huge effect on majority of people. but your right to touch on our senses. at night. wilderness. you have increased hearing 10 fold. you can hear everything. but our eyesight is hindered as much as our hearing increases. combined with campfire. you cant see beyond 15 feet. but everything else can see you perfect. that creates the unknown you speak of and people are afraid of the unknown if by chance it could hold something unfortunate....like a bear.

  • how much did your Goretex jacket cost? where can i pick one up?

  • I like your YouTube videos, I am currently building survival kits for my self and my family.

  • when it comes to putting the ash on your cut finger, would it make a difference as to what sort of wood you were using?

  • @primwalk I normally use the common woods for campfires, Meaning woods you would cook with that are non toxic.

  • i think you have a great explanation but some people are just plane scared.

  • Thanks for the review John. Looks like a pretty good piece of gear, those gear pods. Thanks for that review.

  • hey man great job!!what time of the year was this?24 degrees? im from michigan i can relate!! fan of your vids, great job, keep the vids coming if you can!!!

  • Well thanks for the fun little adventure

I got scared for a little while but felt better after the sun came up , lol

  • another nice one John. That rubber sleeve is handy. Have you ever drunk hot liquid out of a tin cup. Made you do the dance, didn't it?

  • Pretty cool! Thanks for sharing!

  • Great video. I have the same jacket you have. Where did you get the liner for it?

  • I used an M65 field jacket liner. I sewed buttons to the inside so I could remove the liner if I needed to.

  • I actually have several M65s and a liner. Sometimes I wear the liner under other jackets. I thought that you found one designed for the jacket you were wearing but now understand you retrofitted the existing liner to that application. I am going to go take a look at it and ty for that tip!

  • Excellent gear review! I'm highly addicted to your videos. Good job bushman!
