The original version actually had a kiss scene between Jet Li and Aaliyah, but when they did a pre-screen of the movie before it hit theathers the majority of the people didn't like it, so they decided to remove it from the movie. I guess some people didn't like the idea of a Asian man kissing a African American woman, which I thought was stupid, I loved the concept of a modern Romeo and Juliet(without them having those actual names) and the only thing missing in the whole movie was a kiss.
@lovelyangel1983 I heard that Jet Li was uncomfortable with having a kissing scene at the end of the film because he felt it was inappropriate, considering the ending was meant to be sad (not wanting to spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it). Also kissing was pretty taboo among Chinese actors at the time. If you look at Chinese films made during that period, I doubt you'll find any explicit sensual scenes at all. I don't think it's a race issue.

I heard this was suppose to be a love story action blockbuster, but I think 6:44 was the closest they ever got in the entire movie, weird. I'm not saying I wanted a full on sex scene, but it seemed more like a brother-sister relationship between them instead of a Romeo and Juliet one (hence the title). but Aaliyah did great and Jet-Li was awesome. I miss Aaliyah so much.
Yeah, I agree. Aaliyah and Jet Li did both great jobs but the writers and the director should have thought of something more deep in their "romantic" relationship than this. Still, the movie was good and R.I.P. Aaliyah.
