See, to me... Downey's creepy humor is desirable because it was an intentionally awkward homage underpinned by the implication that all five of the ladies gave great performances that year. Gervais is just flat out roasting them without us being able to tell if he harbors genuine disdain. It's not who's funnier, it's who's being more appropriate for an award show, particularly as a presenter or host. I'm a big Gervais fan, but even I cringed. By the way, Downey's sarcasm was perfectly crafted.
