This song is more about weed than booze. It is an allegory (two stories: one that is literal, and then a deeper meaning). Bud and Eric felt comfortable enough to decide to wanna go on tour and play Sublime again with Rome because they feel that can do the songs justice and people like us can get more of an experience than just going to see some shitty cover band.

This song is more about weed than booze. It is an allegory (two stories: one that is literal, and then a deeper meaning). Bradley talks of being a fish in the sea, in which the water is too polluted with germs. He can't get enough of that coral reef. The real meaning is beneath the literal sense; about smoking reefer. Sure its not the healthiest, but got damnit he ain't got no quarrels with god so can't a man get his fill of the reef?

@MrCraigary123 Rome is not there to replace Bradley. I can't wait for people to get this thought out of their heads. Just because he's singing for them does not mean he's trying to replace Bradley. Bud and Eric felt comfortable enough to decide to wanna go on tour and play Sublime again with Rome because they feel that can do the songs justice and people like us can get more of an experience than just going to see some shitty cover band.

@droopyartist I don't think so. I find bands like Badfish and others like them to be completely shitty. I'm not saying Rome is perfect for them, because hell no he's far from it but I'd rather listen to him than any cover band. Because at least Bud and Eric are there to clean up any fuck ups

and "Baby, your a big blue whale." Big Blue whale is another name for a type of heroin.

wrong. This song was on the Jah wont pay the bills demo, the first 10 recorded songs by Sublime. It was released around '91 but the song was written before 91.
So this song is not about herion. Alex is right
