Portable piano, photographers, camcorders, uneven turf. This man is aware of what he is doing with this music - holding the attention of the listener as a taut wire over a great divide holds the attention of a tightrope walker.
It may be hard to listen to sometimes, all that repetition, but playing it a mesmerizing blast that totally relaxes my after a crazy day at work. I come out more serene. Oh, yeah, I just play the A part, the B part is cacophonous.
His instrument has a high, tin sound that is somewhat piercing.
Nevertheless, Glass plays with more rubato and dynamic than I thought he would. Nice to hear this, thanks for putting on.
i dont get it anymore. perhaps its the electric piano, perhaps its the fact that 'Minimalists' work with such a limited palette compared to the 'Romantics' or 'Classicists', but I feel the whole style misses out on so much.
Listen to Beethoven's Hammerklavier Sonata, Adagio Sostenato movement (preferably by Baremboim) for a man whose philosophy was essentially minimalist, and a piece that defies words.
That electric piano sounds so baad, even thought he played so friking good...my dream is to meet Philip Glass someday T_T
Love his music..
