The person, Carrie is singing about just married the guy she wanted to spend the rest of her life, then he was sent to fight in a war, and shortly died in that war. Heart is broken over his loss and it is a tribute to all of the soldiers that have been killed by wars.

Everybody who says Carrie should find a new record label, because Arista isn't promoting her enough. Is wrong, because Joe Galante, the President of the Album, recently said before he left, there is a good reason why they don't promote her. Her music promotes her and her vocals also promote her. Miranda is the one that is also on Arista-Nashville, which they put for EOTY instead of Carrie.

There is a definite reason why this song was written exclusively for Carrie. The writers knew Carrie could handle this song vocally excellently. She has no control in her voice. She doesn't now what subtleties in singing means. It's ok to melisma, but she overdoes it to a great extent. A great singer is known for how much emotion they put into their songs, not how many vocal runs they can put into a verse.

@IdolofCarrie Its because now that Country Music used Carrie to gain their fame again.. They want Miranda to be the next top Country Princess because they know if the exclude Carrie as much as they can.. people will forget about her.
I realized that too by the way that they are blocking out Carrie at the upcoming ACM's this year. It's sad and really sucks. I just don't think Miranda has what it takes to rise and bring country music to another level. If they push Miranda, people will start losing interest and country music will fade quite a bit in a few years without a strong forefront. Carrie needs to somehow do a traditional country album that's strong and can stand alone with/without the support of the industry.

i know this song is about a woman who lost her husband over seas but this song has a whole different meaning to me after the first verse i lost two good guy friends , march 1 2011 will be four years, they were killed at a local high school when a tornado hit and to this day i still think the tornado was just a dream and that any minute now, ryan and aj will be textin me or calling me or be at my house wantin to go mudd riding and katie and jamie will be wanting to go to teh mall..i miss them :(

Every time I hear this song it makes me want to cry..all I can think about is my boyfriend..he gave up his life serving our country and I'm so damn proud of him but god I miss him so much...I love you Ty thank you for everything you've done..and thank you Carrie for making me remember that there are others going through this same problem

Carrie sings with so much emotion and passion, it amazes me how beautiful each and every performance is. She is constantly knocking out her competition by her vocals. But all technicalities aside, she's a rare gem in any light. She's beautiful, caring, honest, talented, and I believe she'd stop what she's doing to help someone. It shows in the way she carries herself. A truly wonderful person.

Of course it's hard not to cry, because a lot of people have lost loved ones in wars. Carrie Underwood obliviously can relate to those people. She cares about everyone. She feels for them. She loves all her fans. Her fans love her back. And she has two jobs, and one everyone loves. MAKING PEOPLE HAPPY. When I listen to her songs I forget all about what I'm upset about and I feel so happy I should jump around. I love Carrie, she's my idol. She's beautiful, has great songs and a fantastic voice!!

Carrie Underwood inspires me a lot. She's gorgeous, has a great voice. She doesn't care what other people think. She cares about everyone, fans or not. Whenever I get sad about something I think, well a lot of people out in this world have it worse and I should be lucky for what I've got. Carrie also never says or does anything bad within her music. Everybody who says Carrie should find a new record label, because Arista isn't promoting her enough. Is wrong, because Joe Galante, the President of the Album, recently said before he left, there is a good reason why they don't promote her. Her music promotes her and her vocals also promote her. Miranda is the one that is also on Arista-Nashville, which they put for EOTY instead of Carrie.

Like I said Carrie's vocals is her best promoting tool. Whereas Miranda must not feel her vocals are that strong.

There is a definite reason why this song was written exclusively for Carrie. The writers knew Carrie could handle this song vocally excellently. Plus they realize she has the high vocals to fit this song perfectly and she performs this song perfectly, even though she says she doesn't perform it perfectly. But I would say she does.

She has no control in her voice. She doesn't now what subtleties in singing means. It's ok to melisma, but she overdoes it to a great extent. A great singer is known for how much emotion they put into their songs, not how many vocal runs they can put into a verse.
Look up Carrie's Desperado at the Grammy's. She was perfect.

Her mother, Carole was sitting right front two rows and Carole start to cry at her daughter's performance and that cause Carrie to start crying herself, Carrie has stronger vocal power to finish the song even though she was crying.

Because Paula Abdul on American Idol said she commends her vocal coach about her vocal control, and Carrie said she never had a vocal coach and never need one. Which shock all the judges.

Yup, it really does depend on the music nowadays. If she released an album with as much passion that she put into Temporary Home, into 12x songs, then she would be perfect!
Love her songs that she writes - she shines the best with them. Someday When I Stop Loving you is a personal fave even though she didn't write it. Beautiful emotion in the song!

Haha! Weelll, maybe a label likee Big Machine since Scott Borchetta pretty much hates Carrie. (Grammy comments and Kelly smackdown, anyone?) But isn't Arista doing alright with promoting her and stuff? I mean Some Hearts was an amazing album, everything from post-Idol to Before He Cheats seemed to go right, Carnival Ride - 3x Plat and Play On - 2x Plat. Promoting and touring seemed to be alright with Arista?
She really needs new songwriters, stat. Kara DioGaurdi won't cut it with country music.

& Meh.. Kara was pretty brutal. To be honest I think if Carrie released an album with all songs she writes it be good. Some of my favourite songs by her were written by her [I Ain't in Checotah Anymore, So Small, Play On]. It just seemed like to me that Arista didn't promote Play On as well as they could of.

I realized that too by the way that they are blocking out Carrie at the upcoming ACM's this year. It's sad and really sucks. I just don't think Miranda has what it takes to rise and bring country music to another level. If they push Miranda, people will start losing interest and country music will fade quite a bit in a few years without a strong forefront. Carrie needs to somehow do a traditional country album that's strong and can stand alone with/without the support of the industry.

Once the Country Genre realizes that Miranda can't even touch Carrie's vocal strength and he talent they'll be like, "Shit.. why did was try to make her the country princess?"
+ After watching the grammys .. I'm truly depressed .. The Grammys screwed up again and let popularity get put into account for Top Female Vocalist. Such ashame.

@clearcrimson I think that's the main issue. Carrie needs to find a new record all together that'll actually promote her work. I'd hate to say this but.. I think if she joined the same record label as Taylor Swift MAYBE just MAYBE.. Carrie would get the recognition she deserves. First she doesn't get nominated for Entertainer of the year.. now she loses at the Grammys in the category SHE CLEARLY deserved to win in... I just think this all has to do with Joe leaving Arista.

i know this song is about a woman who lost her husband over seas but this song has a whole different meaning to me after the first verse i lost two good guy friends , march 1 2011 will be four years, they were killed at a local high school when a tornado hit and to this day i still think the tornado was just a dream and that any minute now, ryan and aj will be textin me or calling me or be at my house wantin to go mudd riding and katie and jamie will be wanting to go to teh mall..i miss them :(
