Russian formations were already mobile and crossing Georgian territory when the order to stop the advance was given. This is proven with recorded telephone conversations of russian soldiers, among other evidence.
South Ossetia was evacuated by russia as early as August 3. People who were never on Georgian soil started to appear by August 4. Why? Because Russia and S. Ossetia knew exactly what was happening.

There was no such thing as "South Ossetia" a few hundred years ago. Mind you, Georgia is thousands of years old.
South Ossetia and Abkhazeti had a majority population of Georgians before the ethnic cleansing committed by Russians/Ossetians/Abkhaz in 1991-1993. And further still, even more Georgians were ethnically cleansed from their own land in August 2008.
Abkhazeti and Samachablo is ancient Georgian.

Here's the way it is, Georgia invaded South Ossetia and Russia responded. Georgia broke away from the Soviet Union and was allowed. South Ossetia and Abkhazia wanted to break away from Georgia but was not allowed. EU and UN gives Kosovo to Albanians and Russia objected. Russia gives South Ossetia and Abkhazia to the people by making them indendent and we're objecting it. Sound hypocritic but it gets even better.
