The main troop body was wating 300 meter to the front, on the right flank of the ennemy positions. On that day, we killed a dozen Taliban and discovered a weapons cache. One of our section commander was actualy hit by schrapnel but nothing serious. Respects to your Granpa, the old breed!

No, actually in the Canadian Forces, it is called the C6 GPMG (General Purpose Machine Gun) , 7.62 mm. It is made in Belgium by the FN (Fabrique Nationale) and is used by several amies, including the UK and US. Its design was based on the MG42. The feeding mechanism is pratically the same. Unlike the famous MG42, wich was recoil operated, the C6 is gas operated. It is a very good, effective and deadly weapon.
