Saw these guys live here in Los Angeles in support of the album and they did all the music live so the cognoscenti recognized the sample but it still was performed live quite wonderfully. She really worked that microphone stand suggestively.
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
@carolyn1091 Sorry, I thought you asked who the singer was :) But apparently you were just happy to have found this song after a year, not knowing the group's name.
The first time i heard this song was in an infomercial about sex lines late at night on DSF, between DTM races. It had a strip show but i never forgot this song and dug around until i found... Hooverphonic!
Round about 2004 a rap song was released that sampled this track, I've been trying to find it since it was released. Can anyone help me with the artist? (It wasn't Comptons most wanted, that was a different track)
@PandoraHeart11 Hi Pandora, thanks for getting in touch, I searched for the wu tag clan track but sadly that is not the one I've been trying to get hold of. The track I'm looking for is very fast paced. Lloyd Banks sampled it on one of hix mixtapes a about 5 years ago. (can't remember the mix tape's name :-( )
@MisterMAYA Hi Mistermaya, sadly that is not the track. Thanks for getting in touch through. Don't suppose you know any other hip hop songs that sample it? There's Biggie with "Warning" the one I need is very fast paced.
@RichySKing There's Hood Took Me Under by Compton's Most Wanted, though all of these songs sample Issac Hayes' Walk On By, nice as it is to think of all these rappers maxin to Hooverphonic.
Nice used motif from Isaac Hayes & Dionne Warwick "Just Don't Know What To Do / Walk On By" (1977) /watch?v=C3gl5BHe5Pg (2:08-2:20). Classic back in new version :)
Synthiotics, you have no idea what I would say. Honestly I was not talking about Europeans. It is the US music fan I was talking to. Don't take things so personally.
I will say this...in all fairness you are correct. I should not have made such a blanket statement. Thanks for clarifying...
Weirdologist and benjaws: please don't assume about me. You don't know me at all. The point I was trying to make is that the soul singers of the past have had a tremendous affect on music from all over the world. They don't seem to get enough credit for it, certainly not monetarily.
If this is something you knew already, then congratulations. If not...now you know.
@urbnwdpshr That claim is a long way off from saying:
"Let this be a lesson to us all. Most (if not all) really good music came from African Americans".
It's true that are plenty of great "black" musicians out there, same as there are plenty of great "white" ones (you made this about race, not me). And certainly not monetarily? Do you even know your own country? And as others said, how many musicians are out there who aren't African American get the claim they deserve? Very few.
Why such an adversarial view to my post? You don't know me at all and please don't assume. The point I was trying to make is that the African American singers from the past had a profound affect on music all over the world. If you know this already, then congratulations. For those that did not know until now...now you know.
@urbnwdpshr Maybe that's the only music you're exposed to in the US? There's an amazing amount of absolutely awesome music being made all over the world, problem is that you never hear any of that in the colonies, or in the Anglophone world in general for that matter. And aside from the trip hop beat, what does this have to do with African Americans?
seen them with lamb in colgone and little later supporting massive attack in these years . thanks for it . want to post Monk and canatella back but not works . peace .
Jesus...I decided to search for this video and figured out something that's been bothering me for awhile. Brace yourselves, it's a bit embarrassing. The riff in this song is from Issac Hayes' "Walk on By" from the Hot Buttered Soul album... For some reason I had it in my head for sure that it was a Portishead song that used that riff and for the life of me I couldn't locate the Portishead song. Now it all makes sense...it was Hooverphonic! Stupid me, I have this album and everything.
