what bothered me the most about Spiderman 3: Peter goes emo, dances sexually with another girl, and accidentally bitch slaps Mary Jane. Relationship is saved when he has to rescue her ONCE AGAIN
I always liked the Hicks-and-Ripley relationship. As for Willie, I never understood her fear of nature. I know it's done for laughs but they go too far. And by "they," I mean Lucas, Spielburg, and whoever else collaborates on the script. Also, those aren't "giant vampire bats" as Indy says. They're flying foxes which are frugivores. Anyway, vampire bats have anesthetic saliva so their "victims" typically don't feel anything anyway. They're no more likely to carry rabies than their cousins.
About Inspector Gadget, I thought it was a good show, but at the same time, I thought Penny ruined it. I mean, Heroes are supossed to face danger. That's what makes them interesting. However, Penny wouldn't allow that. She would always rescuse him, and very prematurely I might add. I thought Penny was a stupid snoddy snopping brat. She took the fun out of the show. I still did like Inspector Gadget, but it probably would have been better if it wasn't for his stupid noisy brat of a niece.
@Gamefan113 Technically, she represents the opposite extreme. A brat type character would be like Missy from 'Welcome to the Dollhouse' or Angelica from 'Rugrats'. Brats demand that others sacrifice on their behalf. They feel entitled to it. Independent types aren't like that.
i don't know how inspecter gadget keeps his job, penny should file the number of bad guys he was stupid enough to trust and she would instantly be in charge, but maybe she just likes the fact that gadget man draws the fire away from the people who know about the bad guy.
I know this might make people upset, but when I first saw shortround, I thought it was just an asian human version of Elmo from seasame street, who yelled a lot!
I hated the female lead in that new Indiana Jones movie. Almost as bad as Willie in my opinion, except that she was just bland as hell rather than screaming her head off every scene.
@SHADOWBATKILLER So ur calling him a 'fagot' but you are the one who likes Dick. Hmmm thats cool. Just lets keep the self hating gay thing to a minimum, k?
@GallusSapien dick as in dick greyson the first robin who grows up to be nightwing and you must have alot of time on your hands to sit down and notice my comment and take the time to agnolage it and as of for calling him fagot i understand that was stupid i try not to use it but it slips out but it still holds that N.C's comment on robin was stupid i dont think he should of put him on the list if he knows nothing about the charecter
@SHADOWBATKILLER I have a decent amount of time on my hands. I sometimes skim the comments section and words like fagot and n**ger tend to pop out, so I thought I would respond. But your reply was very self aware, so thats fine.
Robo-Penny seemed familiar somehow. I then realized that Nickelodeon basically made a cartoon about almost exactly that a handful of years ago. 'My Life as a Teenage Robot' wasn't really a work of art, but the style was retro-cool, and the juxtaposition of a super hero robot teen girl trying to fit in with humans was pretty funny sometimes. The villains from this series were decent also (one word....Killgore, "SURRENDER!"). Bottom line, Robo-Penny=great idea & someone made their own version.
that image of robo-penny was pretty awesome. I wonder if someone can post just that clip on Youtube. I hate to wait through half the critic's review just to see it.
Willie practically pulled me out of The Temple of Doom. Shortround was a bit obnoxious, but he also seemed liked a pretty good-natured kid and he was pretty adorable. Willie just kept raining on Indiana's parade for no real reason. I just wanted to knock some sense into her!
He's a friggin kid who got thrown in the middle of gruesome cultist madness and he still somehow manages to save the day multiple times and be hilarious while doing it.
Who cares about Shia LaBeouf - this guy was Indy's successor when he was eleven :D
I can't help but feel "The Chick" should have done this one... and as for "Why 11?" We know why... I kept waiting for the scene from "This Is Spinal Tap." Why 11? "We need that extra push over the cliff.... these go to 11."
I really like critics like you! Pointing out the details, humorous comments, and knowledge of movies! Do make more stuff like this? If you do, I'll subscribe to you!
I think Shortround was KIND of annoying but he does MORE rescuing that Indy. Watch the movie and see. He kicks ass, saves Indy and drives a car. Willie is f***ing annoying.
@arodbrooks I think the point that GoodNightyNight was making is that she sucked so fucking bad that the other characters already knew that she'd fuck up everything else so her very last option is the kitchen. I mean come on if you have to be save regularly by a blind guy & a chicken then it's clear that a small child has a stronger mentality & Easy Bake is her only safe route.....if that even.
I don't know. I though Shorty was pretty useful in the Temple of Doom. He saves Indie from being mind washed, drives a car through Hong Kong, and leads a slave rebellion. That is pretty cool.
@MovieguruThe At least Mulan was better as a warrior than Kayley because she does kick some ass. In fact Mulan hasn't been captured at least once whereas Kayley gets captured and is helpless while just boasting she's fit to be a knight.
Well, I think that Robin from Batman: Arkham City was pretty awesome. But if we were gonna point fingers, then the biggest dumbass in distress is Rachel Dawes from the Christoper Nolan Batman movies. Just count how many times she gets in trouble in both movies. Go ahead! Her and Roger Rabbit, but you care about Roger, so that doesn't count.
i think robin is also cool in teen titans. it seems weird and kid like but it has it's moments where robin is bad ass. plus when he gets captured it's on a fair amount, and those usally happen when he's captured with a few number of his team or he's seperated from them and is captured. but he is able to escape. so u can see he can take care of himself. plus he's the leader of the team.
Honestly, I think his definition of the DiD is entirely true. Now the ones he reciewed here and s reasons for their picks makes sense, and to be honest, are entirely true. But honestly, I don't think it's always the case when they're in trouble and make themselves the reward. If I recall, there are movies when They save someone because they're the master or genius or key or something. They're actually needed. So making themselves in trouble all the time and making themselves the reward isn't en
If Inspector Gadget gets in trouble Penny has to save him, if Penny gets in trouble Brain has to save her, in Brain gets in trouble Corporal Cape Man has to save him, If Corporal Cape Man gets in trouble, well, The fucking world blows up!
#8 I have to admit I was a Robin fan growing up. though the character could have been better. I admired Batman Forever for doing ok with him but by the third time he had to be saved I was like "Fuck you Joel Schumacher!"
#7 I am still wondering how this guy got to be an inspector.
#11 Her character I thought was likable. But at least she's at the bottom of the list
#10 I think she should have been put higher on the list mostly because the movie itself is unlikable and she doesn't help
#9 Not only is she a pain in the ass but she's also not as hot as the other leading ladies, so that doesn't help her to be likable. Shortround on the other hand actually does help Indiana out.
isnt inspector gadget a free lancer...? since penny usually does the work and makes it seem like hes competent other people think he does a good job with jsut unorthodox methods, people hire him because he appears to get results
I think the reason Gadget was so derpy was a result of the operation to implant all those tools. Something screwed up his brain, resulting in a useless useful guy.
For all of you saying Slippy should be on this list, GET REAL! He gets captured once, ONCE and you say hes one of the WORST damsels in distress of all time? He is bad, BUT HES FAR FROM THE WORST! He fights, he displays your enemy's health, and without him you would have both Wolf AND Andrew on your ass >_> Hes weak, but like I said, hes far from worthless unlike April, Daphne, Mary Jane, Peach and the others on this countdown.
April O Neil is so TOTALLY a dumbass in distress. He's just supporting her because he thinks she's hot. I know I'm gonna get a lot hate replies for this, but this is one of his fuck ups.
Here's my take on Robin's outfit: It's very deceiving. You look at a young boy in a colourful superhero outfit and you think, "Psh, yeah, it's just some little fanboy playing hero." That's when he strikes.
I don't know, I may just be defending the character because I find him so interesting. I like the back-stories and the idea of somebody so young fighting alongside Batman of all heroes. It might just be the younger me talking. How many kids dream about something like that, right?
Sam Witwicky should've been in the list. Same with April O' Niel. I just think she's a real idiot. But no one's as idiotic as Sam Witwicky. Except Jar Jar Peach and Bella. ^^
My dog talks to me in dreams, last night he said i need to remember to give a fuck about anthropomorphism and fake inspector qualifications. Im a Field Marshel in these dreams, and my dog is angelina jolie
All I could think about while he was going on about Kayley was that one scene where she talks about wanting to rescue "damsels in distress" even though she has no idea what a damsel is.
This has always bugged me about cartoons. How the hell did people who clearly have no qualifications for a job, actually end up doing it? What inspector in the world acts like that? I don't even wanna know what the creators of the show were thinking. There isn't a detective ALIVE who acts like that?
@Serdikhan I think the whole point is that, ever since Gadget has been going, Penny has always been helping him out with Brian and Gadget just bumbles through and everyone just assumes he was the one that sorted it out because...hey...a girl with a magic book and a talking anthropomorphic dog clearly have no sklls for fighting off evil. I suppose Penny and Brian could just tell him...I always wondered why they didn't...oh yeah because then there would be no story.
@Serdikhan Errr....how do you work that one out? He is bipedal and apparently has opposable thumbs that he can use to manipulate objects, as well as being able to speak (albeit limited). How much more anthropomorphic can you get?
@BelatedCommiseration How much more anthropomorphic can you get? According to the Sliding Scale Of Anthropomorphism, the next step is wearing clothes, having the ability to talk, walk on two legs and behave like a person while containing his animal species type body. The next step is having his dog head and tail on a human-framed body, like Fox McCloud from the Star Fox games. The next step is him looking virtually human with his only animal parts being the ears and tail. The last step is human.
@Serdikhan So where are we? Brain does wear clothes in Gadget (a trenchcoat and glasses sometimes) as I said before is bipedial (i.e he can walk on two legs) he can manipulate objects and use his hands and arms in a non canine manner. Now its true that Fox Mcloud, earthworm Jim (when in his suit) etc are perhaps higher up the scale in that they only have the head and tail left and a human body, but Brain ticks most of the boxes to bring him pretty high on the scale, hence my original comment.
@BelatedCommiseration Since Brain is below the anthropomorphic level of Funny Animal, and isn't quite a Civilized Animal character, he varies somewhere between Partially Civilized Animal and Speech Impaired Animal.
@Serdikhan I suppose we are getting into the relm of opinion here, but do you really think Brain is uncivilized? He shows a knowledge of technology beyond the degree of some humans, shows empathy and understanding with Penny and Gadget, as well as affection, and shows a strong sense of right and wrong. He acts upon these feelings in a highly mobile way often associated with human beings. He can manipulate complex objects and walk and run. The only thing letting him down is articulate speech.
@BelatedCommiseration You really need to learn about the steps of anthropomorphism and which animals qualify for which step and why. You know Mickey Mouse's dog Pluto. Brain is above his anthro level by just a little. A civilized animal is for example the white rabbit from Alice In Wonderland. He wears clothes, he talks, he walks on two legs, he acts like a person, he's treated like a person. You can replace him with an actual person and the plot will still be same. Brain is not like that.
@Serdikhan Well yet again, as I said, it is a matter of opinion and it is a bit stupid to argue about anthropomorphism when you have more or less said your self that Brain IS on the scale of anthropomorhism anyway and he obviously is anthropomorphic regardless of any other characters in history who may be 'further up the scale' (quote un quote) but, going for what you said, I am of the opinion you cold replace Brain with an actual person and it would work just as well.
@Serdikhan I'm guessing it's because it's suppose to be funny. Someone who doesn't seem qualified and gets a job. It's like,"They don't know how to do their job, laugh at it!" Yeah they're cartoons but sometimes they can try to be a little realistic.
@Serdikhan Well, maybe the REAL boss is actually an earthworm who's retarded even among his species but happens to be Chuck Norris's brother, therefore making his orders unquestionable.
what about teen titans

#11 A little harsh but I agree she's nowhere near as bad as some of these others
#10 Could have been better developed but then again the whole movie was a huge clusterfuck, Still she had her moments
#9 But they're supposed to be comic relief
#10 The Teen Titan version was good, so is the one in Young Justice

#8 I have to admit I was a Robin fan growing up. though the character could have been better. I admired Batman Forever for doing ok with him but by the third time he had to be saved I was like "Fuck you Joel Schumacher!"
#7 I am still wondering how this guy got to be an inspector.
bart11114 4 months ago
#11 Her character I thought was likable. But at least she's at the bottom of the list
#10 I think she should have been put higher on the list mostly because the movie itself is unlikable and she doesn't help
#9 Not only is she a pain in the ass but she's also not as hot as the other leading ladies, so that doesn't help her to be likable. Shortround on the other hand actually does help Indiana out.
bart11114 4 months ago
isnt inspector gadget a free lancer...? since penny usually does the work and makes it seem like hes competent other people think he does a good job with jsut unorthodox methods, people hire him because he appears to get results

I know I'm gonna get a lot hate replies for this, but this is one of his fuck ups.
bluewulv 5 months ago
Here's my take on Robin's outfit: It's very deceiving. You look at a young boy in a colourful superhero outfit and you think, "Psh, yeah, it's just some little fanboy playing hero." That's when he strikes.
I don't know, I may just be defending the character because I find him so interesting. I like the back-stories and the idea of somebody so young fighting alongside Batman of all heroes. It might just be the younger me talking. How many kids dream about something like that, right?
GoldenFlither15 5 months ago
Sam Witwicky should've been in the list. Same with April O' Niel. I just think she's a real idiot. But no one's as idiotic as Sam Witwicky. Except Jar Jar Peach and Bella. ^^

All I could think about while he was going on about Kayley was that one scene where she talks about wanting to rescue "damsels in distress" even though she has no idea what a damsel is.

HOW THE HELL DID GADGET BECOME AN INSPECTOR?
This has always bugged me about cartoons. How the hell did people who clearly have no qualifications for a job, actually end up doing it? What inspector in the world acts like that? I don't even wanna know what the creators of the show were thinking. There isn't a detective ALIVE who acts like that?
Serdikhan 6 months ago 62
@Serdikhan I think the whole point is that, ever since Gadget has been going, Penny has always been helping him out with Brian and Gadget just bumbles through and everyone just assumes he was the one that sorted it out because...hey...a girl with a magic book and a talking anthropomorphic dog clearly have no sklls for fighting off evil. I suppose Penny and Brian could just tell him...I always wondered why they didn't...oh yeah because then there would be no story.
BelatedCommiseration 6 months ago
@BelatedCommiseration Brian is not an anthropomorphic dog per say, he's not that high on the Sliding Scale Of Anthropomorphism.
Serdikhan 6 months ago
@Serdikhan Errr....how do you work that one out? He is bipedal and apparently has opposable thumbs that he can use to manipulate objects, as well as being able to speak (albeit limited). How much more anthropomorphic can you get?
BelatedCommiseration 6 months ago
@BelatedCommiseration How much more anthropomorphic can you get? According to the Sliding Scale Of Anthropomorphism, the next step is wearing clothes, having the ability to talk, walk on two legs and behave like a person while containing his animal species type body. The next step is having his dog head and tail on a human-framed body, like Fox McCloud from the Star Fox games. The next step is him looking virtually human with his only animal parts being the ears and tail. The last step is human.
Serdikhan 6 months ago
@Serdikhan So where are we? Brain does wear clothes in Gadget (a trenchcoat and glasses sometimes) as I said before is bipedial (i.e he can walk on two legs) he can manipulate objects and use his hands and arms in a non canine manner. Now its true that Fox Mcloud, earthworm Jim (when in his suit) etc are perhaps higher up the scale in that they only have the head and tail left and a human body, but Brain ticks most of the boxes to bring him pretty high on the scale, hence my original comment.
BelatedCommiseration 5 months ago
@BelatedCommiseration Since Brain is below the anthropomorphic level of Funny Animal, and isn't quite a Civilized Animal character, he varies somewhere between Partially Civilized Animal and Speech Impaired Animal.
Serdikhan 5 months ago
@Serdikhan I suppose we are getting into the relm of opinion here, but do you really think Brain is uncivilized? He shows a knowledge of technology beyond the degree of some humans, shows empathy and understanding with Penny and Gadget, as well as affection, and shows a strong sense of right and wrong. He acts upon these feelings in a highly mobile way often associated with human beings. He can manipulate complex objects and walk and run. The only thing letting him down is articulate speech.
BelatedCommiseration 5 months ago
@BelatedCommiseration You really need to learn about the steps of anthropomorphism and which animals qualify for which step and why. You know Mickey Mouse's dog Pluto. Brain is above his anthro level by just a little. A civilized animal is for example the white rabbit from Alice In Wonderland. He wears clothes, he talks, he walks on two legs, he acts like a person, he's treated like a person. You can replace him with an actual person and the plot will still be same. Brain is not like that.
Serdikhan 5 months ago
@Serdikhan Well yet again, as I said, it is a matter of opinion and it is a bit stupid to argue about anthropomorphism when you have more or less said your self that Brain IS on the scale of anthropomorhism anyway and he obviously is anthropomorphic regardless of any other characters in history who may be 'further up the scale' (quote un quote) but, going for what you said, I am of the opinion you cold replace Brain with an actual person and it would work just as well.
BelatedCommiseration 5 months ago
@Serdikhan I'm guessing it's because it's suppose to be funny. Someone who doesn't seem qualified and gets a job. It's like,"They don't know how to do their job, laugh at it!" Yeah they're cartoons but sometimes they can try to be a little realistic.
