yeowww...I'm a little out of breath and my heart is acting funny...that's better that an amusement park ride...I think I'll get in line and go again....
Hey Steve, just a quick question: what are the chords around 2:25 till the end? I'm learning it and that last part is the only part I need to figure out. Any help would be nice to play this masterpiece :)
Dammit Steve... is there any way you could have control of whether ITunes can sell your stuff on Australian ITunes as well as American!? You have no idea how much I would buy if it was on Aussie ITunes...
Hey steve, at around 2:37 - 2:41 , The sound is very epic, I just wanted to know how you produce this sound (only guitar+octave Pedal?) or you added another track, cause its sound like a heavy trumpet, really love it.
@MyCatLovesMetal Ah thanks! That is a synth bass being added in along with my guitar to give some extra balls. Actually it is the Tuba setting on a Moog Taurus 1 pedal (or a sample of one). GREAT tone!
Im pretty sure this is just a universal song for guitar virtuosos, ive always loved it and now im finding out that all my favorite artists have covered it, music is good to me.
@TheLastAbacus I'd love to hear what other guitarists have covered this one! Been a fan of this since i was a kid before I knew it was Bach and have wanted to do a unique take on it ever since. Please share!!
@SteveOuimette I know Paul Gilbert has covered this song as well. Both yours and his are fantastic arrangements. Jason Becker may have done one too, but i cant confirm that. You and those two are three of my all time favorite virtouso guitarists.
There are endless music genres I can thoroughly enjoy. Once in a while come these songs which make my body spasm and quiver; it literally gets my hairs to stand. Such a feeling! I swear that even after all this time listening to it, this rendition of Bach's classic - this performance is pretty much the only thing which has CONSISTENTLY been spine chilling. Steve, I can't stop complimenting you on this. The sound is just extraordinary! Thank you.
Steve. You are a TRUE genious and inspiration to is guitarists. I've been messing around on the guitar for years, and hopefully with more practice, I could come close to the minimum of your level. Thank you man. May the fates continue to smile upon you.
@Leonelstudios27 I will be doing the Fugue part as well, so when that is finished and mixed it will be available on iTunes and Amazon.com. As soon as it is I'll be sure to post a bulletin!
Probably around the 20th time I'm listening to this (not to over-exaggerate). This is... This..... I wish I had some sort of influence so I can promote Steve Ouimette properly and passionately. This deserves to be universally recognized for what it is - words cannot describe... Oh man, when will the full recorded version be released? Sorry if I sound impatient - just extremely excited!
@Dragonsrule89 Good ear! No, it's not the same guitar but it's the same octave pedal. That pedal is a mid-70s Mutron Octave Divider and has a very signature sound to it. And as you may have noticed...I love it!
@SteveOuimette Am i totally mistaken if i say that this pedal sounds very close to the one Richie Blackmore used for the song "Difficult to Cure" (Originally Beethoven's ninth, but played by Rainbow)? Is it the same?
@gautski1 I don't know which octave pedal Ritchie used but in that era there weren't that many to choose from. There was the Mutron like mine, an MXR and little else. I'd like to know as well...great ears my friend!
I cannot stop coming back to this. Man, if I had the money, I'd love to give so much of it to you. You MUST become worldwide revered for this because it's... I just can't think of the words each time I get to this part. This makes me so insanely happy and.. Just, Steve, obviously you strive to do things right and it takes a lot of effort and time, but I hope you know that to do this in the first place, you must be as brilliant as you yourself are. I must thank you again for this prodigious work.
@AeroxLight Well, there is no GH anymore as far as new material. Sadly you're seeing the last of the DLC rollouts from what I'd expect. Would love to have more content on GH in the future but that doesn't seem to be possible right now. Then again, give anything enough time and maybe it will come back around.
@KatastrophicKeyboard Being a tocatta it's meant to be more of a free-form style improvisation. If you listen to a variety of recordings of this you'll hear they are all quite different. E Power Biggs was the master organist that did my favorite version of it and it's all over the map tempo-wise.
Since Activision has closed down the Guitar Hero division and ceased to make more Guitar Hero games, possibly including DLC, is it even possible that we see you on Guitar Hero anymore? They initially said DLC was done too, but then put a couple more packs out since, so do you have any inside info you can give us?
This was just you? One guitar? It's very rare that I'm as impressed as I was by so many elements and just in general. You always exceed my expectations. This being one of my favorite pieces of music of all time, you do it more than justice. I am incredibly psyched for the finished version of this to show everyone I know. Incredible Steve! Thank you very much for this!
@MrBean69er I think it's because I've been around long enough to have heard it in every way. Weddings, movies, crappy guitar versions, etc. It's a decent melody but one I've just had enough of. Plus it's too pretty for my taste. The darker stuff has always been closer to my heart in terms of vibe even though I'm the most regular guy you'll ever meet....lol!
amazing steve, you never stop amazing me, your my guitar hero and when i get my guitar playing skills up to a certain level i wanna be just like you, your my idol and your music inspires me YOU ROCK!!!!
