Mostly what you hear on the radio is mainstream Nashville country, it all depends on where the artist is from. Dierks is from Arizona, but there is no bluegrass scene here so I have no clue why he is doing it but it is an amazing song.

You guys are so stupid. A tattered flag has nothing to do with the Confederacy. Have you people ever owned a flag and hung it outside? After about a year or two they become tattered and torn. The comment about the flag standing for the strength of America has some validity but I don't think it fits for this video. This is a bluegrass song did you notice how everything is old fashioned in the video? Tattered flag fits in with that theme. Plus sometimes a flag is just a flag and nothing more.

Dierks writes almost all his own stuff, and the Jake he is referring to is his Dog...I dont really think he was thinking twilight when he wrote this one, however I think the video does have a very twilight/vamp feel to it....but that would be the directors influence.....not necessarily Dierk's ....
