I feel more sorry for sammo hung for taking such a insulting role. I seen almost all of samo hung movies, and have never seen him getting beaten up so badly and died so horribly in his movies except in ip man 2. Do u think Jet li and Jackie chan would dare to play such a role??? Dont think so.
Jet Li get the crap kicked out of him in alot of earlier films....and Jet Li dies in fearless. I don't think you watched the asian movies..
That is a good role for Sammo, made him money, it was dramatic and proud. He really was inspiring, I don't find his role insulting at all. He used to play the fat guy everyone beat up on in Sammo's early movies.
@jetyan Actually in many of his earlier roles Sammo played the fat guy who got beat down easy. As for Jet Li, he was beat the hell out of in a lot of his earlier roles. I even think he got killed in one movie. Can't remember the name though.
I just saw up there that someone made a comment similar to mine without posting it as an answer to you. It seems the movie in which Jet Li gets 'killed' (his role does really, but...) is "Fearless". Maybe he should have been scared after all =).
@gilless429 Jet had an epic death in Fearless though as opposed to just getting the crap kicked out of him. Jet fought while he was poisoned and the Japanese guy acknowledge that he lost the fight even though Jet dies before hitting him with the 'killer blow'.
@ste854 Sammo got an epic death here. Very dramatic, and the problem of his age and asthma is similar, in a way, to the poisoning. Sometimes in movies a good guy dies. Would you rather have an actor you don't know at all doing the dying to make you feel better ?
