  • That's one bad ass, funky sounding guitar. P90 pickups?

  • Saw him at BellyUp years ago with JM and his current BLues Breakers. Private very small venue. Guy was real tight. Blew everybody away. Not just technical but with groove.

  • No he wasn´t....he was born with feeling!!!!

  • Agree with thehellhecould, Whittington had so much flare and originality at the mayall birthday concert!...love this guys playing!

  • As of today, I'm the owner of that very guitar. WOOT!

  • Ridiculously good-blew Clapton off at Mayall's birthday concert

  • @thehellhecould Clapton didn't care, because he wanted John Mayall and his band to shine at John's night... Hear John Mayall comment on "have you heard" at the same night after Clapton's solo...

  • Even his noodling around trying out the guitar is brillant

  • He's great, I'm seeing him on Sunday (6TH jUNE) at Shoreham-On-Sea, should be a good gig.

  • Buddy is a killer. I've rarely heard so wide a spectrum of tones and influences in a single blues song. He should get (at least) as much recognition as the former Bluesbreakers that we all know. Oh, and he's an amazing singer, too! A real musician, not a soulless guitar hero.

  • some cool grace palm mutes and tasteful harmonics

  • Buddy is a great and humble guy. I met him at Z-Fest last year and really enjoyed getting to know him. Thanks Buddy - we love your music.

  • I've got a DL90 just like this except I had Scott put a phase switch between to volume and tone knobs. Scott also dewound the neck pickup a bit to sound more like a Charlie Christian pickup. No complaints, GREAT guitar.

  • Isn't that the DL-90? I really like that round up orange finish too

  • Great playing, tone and amp/guitar.

  • think you can play a practice or small gig with a mini z??

  • mos def!! if you got a pa!

  • What a great new find. This guy is wicked!!!

  • I love it how Buddy just always seems to be just 'messin around' on the guitar, and makes some immese sounds without really trying....I wonder was he born with a Guitar in his arms?? ;)

  • What a smooth and beautiful vibrato.

  • sweet touch buddy,

    nice going

  • met buddy today while we were both pickin' up our dry-cleaning in Hurst. TX. He just got back from England and now he is agoin' to Holland!

  • Funny how the people milling around in the shop are not watching a free display of guitar genius! Beats stairway to heaven - that's all that gets played when I go in music shops.

  • Buddy , your`e awesome !!

  • Catch Buddy on John Mayhall and the Bluesbreakers DVD--John's 70th b'day. Lotta great playing--Clapton's on it too, looking a little overwhelmed.

  • @garyguitar yah lol Buddy's tone, feel, inspiration and vibrato just smoked Clapton on that sadly.

  • It's so funny how most "players" hide behind effects...and are always talking about all the "gear they have/need"...lol...this cat just plugs into a little old amp and shows everyone that if you actually learn how to play and get tone from your fingers....you don't need all the other crap. Buddy kicks butt:) IMHO

  • Well, see, a lot of us don't like this kind of tone or playing and say the same about those who can't use effects :P

  • Well then your at the wrong page...watching the wrong dude:P ...Although I certainly don't think that little amp is the BEST you heard Buddy...And I've certainly NEVER in my 31 years of playing met a pro that couldn't "use" effects...not exactly rocket science. ..and certainly can be fun and creative tools...unfortunately ..99% of those who use them..."hide behind them" and use them constantly...which by it's very NAME isn't an "effect" anymore...it's now a "mask". IMHO

  • Finally someone who sounds like they know what the hell they are talking about

  • @WarBeer Yeah Jimi hid with effects....

  • If you can't play clean then you can't play with effects lol effects are used to accentuate good playing not hide behind bad playing. If a little guitar fag ever said something to me for not using effects I would shred his ass under the table with his own guitar and rig

  • lol actually he's playing a mini z so....the tone is coming from that ; )

  • A great guitarist who mostly used his hands for effects was Rory Gallagher eg:

pinched harmonics and pushing down on strings behind knut, scraping, muffling the the strings with edge of his right hand, vibrato, hammer ons, pull offs, violin effect using volume control, tapping, not to mention his brilliant slide playing, the list goes on,eventually he did start using pedals, but he wasn't masking anything.

  • GODLY TONE.

    Damn...

  • awsome

  • John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers played a concert in Norway yesterday and I was there. I fell for this guy at once I heard him.

He played a Led Zeppelin-solo medle wich was awesome ;) Also made some "jokes" on the guitar between the songs. I love this guy

  • but is a fender led

  • He has infinity licks!

  • that last lick is quite a tasty one...

  • La mare qui ta parit, que bo!!!

  • What a player.

  • Between Buddy, Lentz and Z, that's a lot of talent right there. Great tones for sure!

  • wow this guy just makes it all look so easy and sound so damn fine

  • nice. Buddy is the man. I saw him with the John Mayall and the BB in 1997. I could not believe the tones he was getting with just his strat straight into a 1x12 amp. talked after the show, he gave me the dr.'s card and 6 months later i had delivery on a 2x12 Maz-38 Invasion. You can hear my Les Paul straight into the Invasion on this clip.

  • Effortless!!!!!

  • This man was born playing the guitar, its like part of his body, an extra limb if you were.

  • smoooooooth fingers

  • Buddy has the phrasing dude. If you can play 10% as good as him then you are the daddy...

  • i myeslf am aiming for a carmen ghia 1x12 combo.for country blues and southern rock.

  • Beautiful blues phrasing. Thanks Buddy, Lentz, and Dr. Z. Excellent demo!

  • cool guitar reminds me a little of a peavey wolfgang mixed with a telecaster

  • actually the mango(made in wales) 10 watt head +1X12 would give it a run for its money!!

  • HOT!

  • Beautiful guitar and player.

  • Never mind the amp! Such a great player!

  • A great musician...playing a great guitar...through one of the best 5 watt amps ever!

  • Actually you're wrong; it's _the_ best amp ever.

    ~mini-z owner

  • Yes, you are right. It really is THE best amp ever. I suppose I was being too "diplomatic."

    ~another Mini-Z owner...and Route 66 owner!

  • I'm saving up to be a Route 66 owner as well.

    *sigh*

  • The wait will be worth it...trust me! I waited about 6 years before I finally got around to it, myself. If you can, get the Dr. Z 2x12 Z Best Cabinet to go with it. Also, a Dr. Z AirBrake will complete the perfect amp setup by itself...as you really have to crank the Route 66 to get some of its mojo. A Route 66 and Mini-Z would be all you'll ever need. By the way, the Mini-Z sounds even better through that 2x12 cabinet, as well. Hang in there...it is worth it!

  • Yea, I played a Route-66 through a Marshall 4x12 with Greenbacks, I'm aiming for Blues though. It was the most versatile, tonally perfect amp I've ever played. Should be getting one in January =D

About three months ago I bought my Mini-Z and I quickly determined I'd never step on stage without one.

  • Buddy is one of the finest!
