  • The guy is a legend and an amazing talent.

Love and adore Massive Attack and portishead too.

The closest new sound to this is most likely Bristol based AllFlaws.

The city just keeps churning out greatness

  • i bought the CD the name is actually Hell is Round the Corner. not around

  • bitch is high ass fuck...i heard the song on transporter 3 kool ass fuck i even wrote a song on the same tune, but in portugues...love it..but i thought the guy would be more fly that that ..LOL

  • god i love how mody this is

reminds me of times when i used to get high, get a glass of wine... just chilllll

  • i love this song back in high school when i wanted to get my girl in our first date i took her down the boulevard with this song it was a cool friday night..AMAZING

  • oh my buddah!! love portishead!!!

  • Just heard this a bit of this song on Transporter 3, the film was total shit but worth watching to hear this tune lovin it dark n twisted it really grabs your attention and pulls you in.

  • this is good, but I prefer Glory Box.

  • u gay

  • I was just listening to Autospy and then I sarted listening to this. Man I have a wide variety of music tastes.

  • i was just listening to anal cunt. suck on that

  • Got me there.

  • damn punk went to hell

  • wooop west country music

  • LOVE

  • This song is so sexy.

I always thought Maxinquaye had such a sensual sound.

  • Damn Yes!

Don't forget they two were lovers

    This song makes me wanna..

  • They were. And I imagine their relationship was very much reflected in the music they made together.

I also like remix of this: Hell Is Round The Corner (2009 Remix) -- on the Maxinquaye deluxe album. Possibly even prefer it. It's dreamier.

  • I grew up in Latvia during the 90's, and for some reason I I never really looked into the whole trip-hop scene. I think it was because the Soviet Union had just broke up and we really just wanted something fun and "exotic". Which is why we listened to stuff like No Doubt, Captain Jack, 2unlimited, etc. Years later, living in a completely different place, I look back at European music of the 90's and I realize that the music of Tricky, Portishead, and Massive Attack, is some good stuff.

  • sorry to be pedantic bit it's 'maxinquaye'

  • love this song, better then the shit in the charts today,

  • No doubt. Too bad people are too focused on the bullshit littering the airwaves these days instead of discovering proper tracks like this one.

  • you got that right,

  • The best thing about Tricky is that the videos, while adding to the song, does not intrude on the listening experience. The song is still front and center, the videos only add another layer to the atmosphere.

Perhaps not as easy to accept as more mainstream hipohop interpretations, but brilliant, depthy and surreal.

  • Perfect summary.

  • Still one of my favorite songs of all time from the Trip Hop and Hip Hop genres. Something about this song is absolutely incredible.

  • I think this is the brother song to Portisheads glory box

  • @carbine125 Yup it is

  • you should rename this to Tricky - Hell Is Round The Corner... it's hard to find this video

  • ...absolute fucking classic!

  • Genius .. *****

  • isms schisms

  • This one of the Creepiest videos I ever saw, it always reminded me of scenes of hell from Twin Peaks.

  • this songs scary as

  • hey i no you, your that guy off snakes on a plane ay

  • Didn't I see this guy on the fith element with Bruce willis?

  • Yep, he had a cameo in The 5th Element....which incidentally had a majorly random-ass cast, lol.

  • yes, absolutely

  • skiiins

  • Saw this on Rescue Me a few years ago. Creppy song & video, but its catchy.

  • haha thts how i heard the song

  • Sampling Isaac Hayes' "Ike's Rap" from "Black Moses"

  • this song is in SKINS :)

  • Rescue Me Season 3 episode 12... great show, great song.

  • Ike's Rap II

  • Tune reminds me of Glory Box by Portishead

  • this song is in Transporter 3 (the movie)

  • same here I think its creepy how the rhythm of the song can be used to be both sooo sad and soo very sexy

  • Can anyone tell me which Isaac Hayes song that the sample is from? I'm both Tricky's and Portishead's biggest fan and would love to know.

Saw Tricky and Martina here in Melbourne Australia a few months ago.... what a show! As for the make up and so on, I've heard that the poor guy's mum suicided when he was quite young and he says that she is singing the lyrics through him. We can only imagine how you'd get your head around having something like that in your life.

    Love you guys. Thank you.

  • It's from Ike's Rap II

  • Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Maxinquaye was his mother's name so the album is dedicated to her memory. He's amazing

  • You're right, Maxine Quaye I beleive. If you wanna see the most amazing collection of Tricky's music have a look a the t delibrahim19 channel.

  • Its from "Walk On By" awesome song by the way

  • This is pure briliant madness!!! Insanity is so rarely this poetic. My brain thinks bomb like....

  • weird ass fucking video but good ass song.

  • Tricky didn't rip this off Portishead (who he is good friends with) they both released it in 95 sampled Ike's rap II by Issac Hayes .

  • this song is from Transporter 3...from the scene where Jason Stathum is having intercourse with that sexy ukrainian

  • season 3 episode 12 of rescue me "Hell"... when tommy and janet discover tht johnny has been shot and killed in the line of duty.... good call by rescue me cause this is a good song

  • fuckin sounds good...he has reasons for doing it like this i bet,heh

    :):)

  • Why do I want to say... Portishead...

  • He didn't even really remix it. Jesus.

  • Yeah I was like... wtf...

  • well... that female voice is Beth.... it's a glory box remix

  • Ok... you need to go a little further back.. it isn't a portishead sample... it's an Issac Hayes sample and that's not Beth singing that's. Martina Topley-Bird

  • Well... I didn't know that at all. For some reason I always thought it was Beth singing. Thanks for the info.

  • Take his words very serious. Cause they do.

  • This song has a weird feel to it but I like it a lot..

  • Tricky had a nice part in the 5TH Element Movie.

When he shakes his head and transitions into the girl's verse, it reminds me of when the bad human guys turn into those ugly ogre monsters with huge ass guns.

    Nicely done I might say

  • i got this song from the movie transporter 3

  • Comment removed

  • the beat was originally used by portishead - glory box.

  • Yea

  • haha ye it is

  • yep. thats how i found this song. that was a kind of shitty movie though.

  • did Tricky produce this or was it someone else?

  • It is a very sexual song. I got it off the Skins OST like 2 years ago. Been on my ipod for quite a while but just listened to it again after seeing it on the Mistresses BBC advert. Awesome tune.

  • Haha! goddam i love being high to dis song!!

  • weird.

  • excellent song but i need to know who the original artist was using this tune.....anybody out there ???goes back a few years.....

  • Portishead - Glory box

  • He sampled a song from Isaac Hayes, Portishead used the same sample a year before for Glory Box.

  • i fuckin love this song but horrible video tryna find a download for it

  • Take the definition from every word in his lyrics, put those definitions together, and you have yourself a document of powerful language.

  • Someone introduced me to Tricky a while back. As soon as I first saw this video, I was instantly turned off because i had seen it was a form of hip-hop. But after giving this video a try, I was stunned. Then I read some of his lyrics and was even more stunned.

I'm so used to hearing horrible hip-hop from the States that I didn't believe there was anyone in hip-hop talented enough for my preference. Boy, I was wrong. Tricky has obviously found what he's good at.

  • sexuel indeed.

  • tellement sexuel....

  • Topley-Bird is hot like fire.

  • cAN A SONG GET MORE CHILLLZ? NOPE!

  • yes a little freaky / devilish which I am not usually into at all but this song is awesome! very well done, so smooth almost hypnotic, a true artistic creation!

  • Amazing artist, grew up listening to him. I can't believe I only just found out he was in the Parabola video by Tool.

  • Is it him? well great minds are alike after all.

  • Good music, looks like some type of devil worship though, the kind that the rich elitists would engage in, LOL

  • the sample comes from an isaac hayes song

  • great artist... and great sample by portishead

  • Its reminds me of groove armada a"at the river" mixed with a bit of massive attack.

  • def portishead

  • Tricky From Bristol...... Portishead from Bristol have a think about it (good Relations)

  • And massive attack! I live in Bristol ;)

  • Trip hop is nynteez. It's easy to make music on heroin.

  • what's nynteez?

  • The 1990s or Nineties was the decade between and including January 1st, 1990 to December 31st, 1999. During this time, the widespread adoption of personal computers, the Internet, and the increased economic productivity led to the equity market booms around the world, and caused an influx of wealth to the United States, Europe, and Asia.

  • I love the beat
