Using Hydrogen to create electricity to power an electric motor doesn't seem like lots of work to people. Don't let it fool you. The technology is tedious and the net result only generates tiny amounts of electricity. If the Hydrogen Cell can really create a tremendous amount of electricity then awesome!!
dude... the first hydrogen car was created in 1977... gues what happened with the inventor ? yes you guessed right.. he was murdered... as long as corrupted governments and capitalist economy dictators are the boss on this planet they will do everything they can to earn money with this in the future by selling hydrogen...
its ilegal to a hydrogen engine but i dont care... my subaru legacy will drive on sea water this year..
How much power to mass does a fuel cell produced, compared to a full blown combustion engine? I'm pretty sure it requires a lot more mass & space to produce the same power.
so if this happened and we used water to make hydrogen could the price of water skyrocket and eventually deplete leaving us twice as fucked as before? basically im saying humans are gonna fuck over the world no matter what we do
@0akie13 No, because the emissions of these engines are mostly comprised of water (which will in turn evaporate back into the atmosphere), and this planet is covered 70% in water. I highly doubt we'll ever 'run out'.
What happens if the car overheated and a small spark reaches the hydrogen tank; Ouch
And what about storing all that Hydrogen something really really strong should be able to handle all that gas and not allow all that hydrogen to escape
There's a guy Bob Lazar who supposedly worked at area 51 and he created his own hydrogen chevrolet years ago. He said he doesn't ever buy the hydrogen. He creates it himself with solar energy. Pwned any1 who still believes creating hydrogen is worse for the environment than fossil fuels. You can look it up on youtube.
It is just as safe as gasoline engine, moreso in an accident b/c if the tank if punctured it goes UP into the atmosphere. Norway already has a hydrogen highway. America will be the last one with this in the public b/c they're still milking gasoline and other fossil fuels.
@vascoramaPT well that may be, but one thing that's for sure is that fossil fuels will run out someday. Like it or not, green cars are the right way to go.
@rob92376 That's the thing Oil company's are spending millions in technology like this so in 20 years when the government bans the use of oil for gas(rather have it to make plastic, wouldn't you?) they will have a foothold already in the industry and try to expand it as much as possible to gain the advantage over others.
What is the liter per minute consumption rate of hydrogen of these hydrogen cars???
How much liters per minute of hydrogen do these cars use in normal driving???
The device on my motorcycle produces over 40 liters per minute of hydrogen from water.
The device on my motorcycle also produces over 60 liters per minute of HHO gas. Is this enough hydrogen to run these cars??? Signed Norman Williams XMARINE. No joke!!!
these sound to be a beautiful sorce of Green Fuel only the part of how the endurence of the pre cell equipment and their stability under non factory replacement/upgrades are a foreseeable question
True, but you can't expect the early stages of an introduction of a completely different type of vehicle to be completely green right off the bat.
Unfortunately, these auto makers have to create a few to test them and then test them in the market.
Remember kids, it's all about the money. Even when we are all driving hydrogen fuel cell cars, we are still going to be paying close to $5.00 per kilogram of hydrogen.
Nuclear power is a workable alternative to fossil fuel. Don't forget nuclear. Those are really the only choices for the foreseeable future: fossil fuels and nuclear.
@grantkielyyyy That will always be the case with any car aslong as the electricity companies don't competely switch over to renewable energy. It's the law of energy. You can't just create energy out of nothing. Now what they can do to fix this is instead of exhausting H2O, storing H2O back in the car and use the power of the wind (fan, while driving) or sun (while driving or not driving) to create new hydrogen on the move. But that means not buying anymore H! And the companies will be ruined! Ha
@nielss4 no, thers also the argument of hydro-carbon fusion being more effective thane hydrogen fusion, carbon has 6 protons hydrogen has 1. it might be more effecient but the process of nucler fuseing 2 hyro-carbon, molcules together is highly unstable.
@grantkielyyyy If they can make a car that goes 150mph with zero emissions then I'm sure they are coming up with a way to produce the hydrogen efficiently.
@grantkielyyyy dude, that is not true! photovoltaics pay their own price in 5 years just by selling excess electricity back to the grid, having PV on the roof is a big investment (much smaller than a car....), but it's quite possible. Then you can choose to electrolyze water at home or sell the electricity to the grid, depending on what favors you most, and you can make your own H2 from the sun (using a home wind-turbine works same way)
@grantkielyyyy That's why we need to use "Enhanced Geothermal System" to produce "free" electricity. I'm pretty sure you don't know what "Enhanced Geothermal System" is and don't expect to ear about it. We can also produce electricity with wind, waves, tidal power, solar and hydro. You have companies making billions polluting the earth,do you think they're going to give that up?
@grantkielyyyy But, once energy has been created, it can begin to split to water molecules using hydrogen. So really, you'd just need the fossil fuels to start it off.
Great! Start making hydrogen we will no longer be dependent on foreign oil.
"We need oil to make hydrogen."
Shut up! We'll make it work!

Cool so how do we get the hydrogen? And what are the overheads of producing it?

unless we find natural hydrogen pockets, its not that much cleaner

So, hybrid cars aren't the same as Hydrogen cars? Hybrid cars have to use both electricity and a gas right?

Currently the cost effective ways of producing hydrogen actually use fossil fuels indirectly to split water molecules.
