@Armachillo But there's zero cruelty involved here. It's similar to regular grooming, except that it looks different to us. Do people truly believe that the dogs feel embarrassed, or that other canines think they look dumb? We do project too much of our own minds onto animals sometimes.
@rafflesia There's nothing wrong with dying and clipping/shaving hair in funky ways, whether it's a person or a dog. It isn't harmful, and so long as it's not done excessively, it's a non-issue. If you think it looks stupid, fine, but I pity abandoned and abused animals, not these treasured companions who also happen to be artfully groomed at times.
I think its disrespectful to the dogs since they don't really have a choice... they say that if the dog wouldn't want it it wouldn't happen. I don't believe that. A dog is a docile animal, especially poodles... and by the way , would you groom your child that way?
these dogs look riduculous how would the owners like it if someone just painted them up and paraded them around their peers. think about how they look to other dogs. if you want to create your ugly artwork get a canvas
"Poor dogs?" Are you people kidding? These are obviously well loved, perfectly cared for, healthy, happy dogs! Creative grooming is an art form, and they all look beautiful. It's no more harmful than normal grooming (which is to say, it isn't harmful at all!) If the clipping, dyeing, etc., really bothered them, the groomers & owners would know about it. As it is, they're just spending time with their dogs & showering them with attention in an unusual way...
Yes, the dye is a bit extreme but honestly there are far worse things than decretive grooming. I’ve been a groomer for 6 years and neglecting breeds like the poodle does more harm than good. Most dogs honestly enjoy being groomed, especially by their owner. I would have to say some of the best bonding moments I’ve had with my dogs have been during their grooms and they love having all of my focused attention. Some dogs enjoy fetching Frisbees, others enjoy the attention from grooming.
the dogs love the attention they get and the grooming, they are completely pampered. the dye is not harmful at all, and the dogs don't care what color they are (they are colorblind anyway) they run and play like normal dogs and get plenty of love and care, and are usually very spoiled (in a good way), and the owner gets the benefit of having a truly 100% unique, head turning pet! and i am 100% sure that the animals here would be loved just as much when their hair isn't crazy colored.
Would someone like to tell me how to keep the dye from running when you have to rinse it out? The dye lines look so nice and crisp, how do you keep it from getting on the other areas of the coat? I heard that some people put conditioner where they dont want the dye to go.
Those grooms look amazing! I would love to get into creative grooming
I would like to colour you and dress you like these dogs are dressed and you suppose to stand over 40 hours still standing there. Well, lets see if you would like this. Beside of that I dont understand the behave of this people who do that kind of contest with their dogs, its just to making money and nothing else, you should shame yourself cause you do sell somehow the friendship between you and your dog. And I really dont get how your politicans can agree that, in our land its forbidden!
You say that ur dogs love this? Its not good for their fur to be died like this.
If you could ask them if they would rather run around and be a dog or died and looked fake I think we all know what they would pick. dogs were not created for this. people have bred them to be this way and I think it is wrong. its disgusting.
The checkered dog is awesome. If I had a poodle I would like to sometimes have it groomed this way. I think it's cruel to let dogs of any kind get dirty, matted, and full of debris stuck to their coat. This is just temporary coloring and hair cuts on dogs that need a lot of grooming no matter what shape their fur is clipped. Mats in the fur can eventually pull skin and it hurts the dog to try and get those mats out.
this is disgusting. its not abuse but it's awful. she says it is her family pet would u do that to ur son? this is a waste of time do something for the world
As a poodle breeder I understand the grooming contests. They don't in any way hurt our poodles and in fact the poodles are pampered beyond belief at the various grooming competitions. Just another reason why poodle people believe that if it isn't a poodle, it just isn't a dog.
How is this abuse? Pampering and loving your dog? Ugh.. I find this a bit extreme and wacky but abuse? Please look up the word abuse before you use it... please you make yourself look bad
@NinaPoodle That looks horrible. Look at my own neglected dog??? I don't have dogs precisely because in the wild, dogs are constantly on the move and in a pack. If you can't provide them with a similar atmosphere, then that is neglect. Treating them like a human might as well be neglect because you neglect them of their basic requirements such as the daily pack activity and exercise they would get in their natural habitat. Caesar Milan know's what dogs need and require.
@NinaPoodle Fair enough, I was not aware of that rather odd fact, I do know however that he disagreed with the colouring and humanistic pampering of small dogs that was shown to cause anxiety in the animals. I also do know that he keeps his own dogs in a pack in large open spaces. That should clarify where I'm coming from.
Anyone who decides to keep an animal should be aware of the polar differences between them and humans, they are not babies, nor should they substitute babies or toys.
