The city in the beginning depicts in a way the Wieluń terror bombing which was the first attack on Poland. Their were no military present only civilians and one of the first buildings bombed was the hospital which had a big red cross painted on it's roof.

It's a widely acknowledged fact that the combined English-French forces would crash German army in no time. In a sense, Brits are responsible for the heavy losses of WW2.

Long term factors included occupying the territories, building and maintianing supply lines, and having to make war with the other commonwealth parties. The germans knew that when they declared war on everyone, they would be in for a few years.

i don't know how you can say that the heavy losses in WWII were down to the brits! We did a heck of a lot at the start of the war and tried to hold off an invasion of France, we then halted the German advance during the battle of Britain, and pushed back into europe on D-day with the help of the Americans and Canadians. The brits did a lot more than some nations, America didn't join till way after the war had started.

@SPARTANMST you're totally right. The UK did so much more than people give them credit for in WWII. There's a book you should read, entitled "A Man Called Intrepid" It's about how the OSS got started and apparently how Great Britain had a spy ring in Germany for almost all of the war. A British guy was actually responsible for our (i'm american) OSS, and thus our CIA. The only Americans who really did want to get in the war before Pearl were apparently FDR, and a select handful of others. Props!

I dont know why the french have a vibe for not being able to fight. The french are militarily one of the most successful countries in history, and merely got cought with their pants down when hitler came with panzer tanks. Even when they did loose, they still had soldiers fighting until the end of the war. Why not bas italy, the country that screwed over their own allies TWICE without fighting much.
