  • do u have a tutorial on using EQ in Live's compressor?

  • great tips. thank you

  • ableton could do with a 'match eq'

perhaps the only benefit of logic ;D

  • ditto all the positive comments Mark... a tad over-explained for me, but that's the trade-off when you are addressing a wide audience... your choices of content are excellent (for what I am looking for, anyway...) thanks for your time and energy... !

  • Fam ur a G!!! BLESS!! WELL EXPLAINED!!

  • Glad I stumbled on to you Mark. Your tips are much appreciated.

  • YOU ARE FANTASTIC :D

  • the problem with the second example is that a lot of sub bass is just a sine wave, which has a single harmonic. That means that eqing it is pointless and you're better off fitting your kick with it instead.

  • Thanks Mark! Dig the vid! Gonna sign up for your channe!

  • Nice trick. But in this example rolling off on the pad is probably not warranted because you are only working with two sound source, or two parts sharing much of the same freq space. If there were more component parts involved in this track I believe I would roll off on the pad using a weak slope depending on pad type. By definition, a pad is really only for "padding" in the track, to give a sense of atmosphere. All pads freqs aren't required. Sometimes it can be warranted to BP the pad.

  • great tutorial man!!!

  • By the way, when you Eq, no need to increase the volume of the track. There is already a gain control on the Eq Height. I like to keep my stuff clean& organized. :D

  • VERY HELPFUL. Thanks!

  • thid tip help m alot my mixex just got better cause of u thanks

  • How can I edit frequencies below 30hz? I wanna cut everything around 20 and below to make more room in my mix.

  • @hkim927 mate, 30 hz and lower are not audible, you only feel them as vibration. anything thats not sub frequency, should have the 30hz shelf cutoff. all sub freq. should be eq'd and cutoff just beyond the 30 - 60 hz area.

  • @UKDNBpromo Not audible? What, are you listening to music on laptop speakers? You think all those DNB tunes you promote on your channel have nothing under the 30hz range?

  • BINGO!

  • Excellent video bruv. I been having brain ache over getting my EQ right etc and how to do my cuts. Your the first person speaking backwards that i understand haha

    Thanks man !

  • Thank you. This has been a mystery to me.

  • the man!!

  • Really nice tutorial. Such tips are essence of making music. With all those plugins and instruments everybody can make a sound that sounds great. But for the whole track THIS is the essence. Proper arrangement and mixing makes the song really nice. Without this you get poor pop where all channels are loud and you can only dance to it even if you think that it's crap;) thanks for such movies!

  • EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND? great tutorial tho, thanks raymond

  • Love that "Mud" trick...i was really having problems with that ! good vid.

  • good stuff this is just what i need, but i didnt understand it lol

  • thank you very much for this one! appreciate it.

  • Brilliant stuff. I'm trying to reduce noise on a dialogue track, I think this will help a lot. Any chance of a tutorial on automating EQ?? It's an area where I'm a bit sloppy

  • Awesome tutorial, thanks alot!

  • This is incredible. Really reduces down and systematizes what I've been trying to do by random luck for a long time now.

  • thanks for this good tutorial, liked the two tricks very much.

what should a good house song sound like when you solo the frequencies beneath 100 hz?

you were talking about playing this song in the club and so on, you mean the subwoofer in the clubs will then only play what you can hear when you mute everything op from 100 hz?

  • very good tutorial!!!

  • Thanks, great tutorial!

  • subscribed! good stuff

  • Although I would keep more of the low end in the bass... But I'm a bass junkie

  • Love the cut and paste idea - really something that has never occurred to me before. Don't forget post-eq compression will really help too.

  • good job:p very interesting and useful tutorial!!! thanks:p

  • Good stuff. Thx! Interested in various methods to do this -- also interested in other option you mentioned -- side chaining. That's quite confusing in Live.

Would be very interested in a 'final mix' tutorial. Most of my friends that use Ableton use a final mix plugin in "Peak", etc. I'd like to see how to do it with Ableton's defaut setup. (I use a lot more compression & equalization now to get sounds to really 'punch out' of the mix.)

  • Thank you for very much for the good tutorial.

  • thx mate!

  • thanks for the reply btw...precisely what I was looking for...great tips!
