  • YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOOOO FUKKKKKKEN EPIC,MAAANNN !!!!!!!!

  • Great... thanks

  • well played sir! what a smooth rendition, I love the little flutter-pick bits, I can't do them at all :(

  • Perfect !

  • great .... i am playing bass with you and we sound pretty smooth!!!

  • I can't believe there are 2 people who don't like this player. it has to be teens who don't know real music.

  • Dang!! That's nice. Every note is perfect. Never seen this before either without tricks.

    You are awesome my friend.

  • the best "walking fingers ", i ever see on that tune...my mom and me where dancing in front of my pc !!!!!!!!.... 5*+ !!!!!!!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS !!!!!

  • i dig it

  • Outstanding! Best I've heard on this youtube contraption. Did you learn off of tab or pick it apart by ear?

  • Great job! Finally, somebody who plays all of the licks and doesn't fake some of it like so many others. If you can't play it, don't fake it! Once again , fantastic playing!

  • Cool! Glad I stumbled across this.

  • Jozu! Excellent Koji-san. You captured the feel for that great solo. You might search that that elusive last rich chord ending in the original song to put the cherry on top of the cake. Thanks! Johnny

  • Excellent.

  • played real good ! that was fun too.

  • yes, not easy to me to play it in F key, thanks for this tips

  • Great job! You totally nailed it. Not an easy song to play in the original key of F. A sax player actually taught me this song. One suggestion - the song actually ends on a Fmaj7 chord. Try it, you'll like it! :)

  • Superb! Very nicely done. Very smooth. I don't why I have difficulty playing this song.

  • Same here. Been playing this song for a long time and for some reason, it is never easy. F is definitely not the most guitar-friendly key. This is a very good vid of this song. He did a great job.

  • Also, for more Billy Butler, listen to him play on King Curtis' Soul Twist and the entire album.

    Tasty stuff.

  • Nice touch with the metronome. And on time...

  • eres un genio de la guitarra!!!

  • como toka la guitarra el ioputa

  • I Like your Play Guitar !

  • awesome man sounds great, thanks for the visual

  • I cant play guitar, but if i could, this would be on my top 5 to learn. perfectly done, 5 stars!

  • Damn great guitar work, Bill would be proud.

  • very nice! spot on....classic tune, everyone loves honky tonk

  • Thank you very very much!

  • Nice to see it played in the proper key of F.

All those 5th fret notes with the pinky in the opening section should actually be open notes at the nut. Saves a big awkward stretch. That's how Billy did it originally.

  • @Scruggsnut - I always played it in F, but I never thought of playing the D and G on open strings. Thankyou! - This reminds me of a related fact: Tal Farlow told me his favorite key was D flat. (he didn't like open strings unless it was for a sustained pedal tone)

  • any chance of me a getting the tabs for this solo. it's as good as bill doggett's version as i've heard and i've heard this song done hundreds of times over the last fifty years.

  • fantastic, beautifully done

  • I have to say thats the best I ever heard it played...bravo!!

  • Thank You Very Very Much!

    (^^)

  • Great playing... worst possible camera angle, we can.t see where the finger tips ( most important part ) are going.

I hope next time you put the camera so we see what the musician sees, like looking over his right shoulder..that would be a fantastic big help to people who are trying to learn.

    Thanks for the great sounds.

  • really good! better than the ventures' version. you have real skill on that guitar, but why not show your face? your left arm looks like a 14-year-old. whatever your age, that's good playing.

  • Honky Tonk was inspired by Jimmy Reed's "Baby, You Don't Have to Go." This is definitely some transitional Rock "n" Roll going on here!

  • Wow! This is great. I've been playing this tune since I was a kid. It's still real popular in the San Antonio live music scene. This is the best I've ever heard anyone do it. Great job!

  • Thank You Very Much!

  • Greeeeaat Job :D Thank you for posting :)

  • very well done 5*

  • I have the whole rhythem part with Bass, Organ and a little percussion tabed out on the "Guitar Pro v.6.0" that you can run and practice to. If you want the file for that, get me an e-mail address and I will send it to you.

  • great playing ! could you play honky tonk on E -A -B . thanks

  • Nice take on a "classic" solo. Good job!
