'Poor Terry (let's humour him again, shall we, and say he's better than the man he could never replace) got snubbed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (and made sure all his axes were ground when he crashed the stage and made everyone else uncomfortable).' Same old song from you. All the time. Get over it. The man is small potatoes, and you can have him. The world will go on, and Graham Nash will continue to perform with David Crosby and Stephen Stills, and get more awards....
@heymaryann1 I never look at the man.... too nondescript and colourless. But I resent how the RRHoF episode is constantly brought up, I know that Graham and Allan have long since moved on and while I once had nothing against TS, I do now because he snipes at Graham (who did nothing to offend TS) and Allan (who didn't expect TS to misbehave)
@NewHopeNashFan I didn't bring the rrhof up. Another person asked about it. He didn't know you were so embarrassed at Nash's actions that night. Sorry, Nash's boorish behavior is part of his legacy. I can feel the rage you have now that your idol's reputation is tarnished. You better calm down or you'll go too far & have to delete your posts again like you had to do last month.
@heymaryann1 Nash and a great many other people were embarrassed by TERRY SYLVESTER. Graham is a professional, a class act and a legend. What did he ever do to your idol?
@NewHopeNashFan I should say - without Graham and Allan I simply can't recognise them. I can't bear to look at Hollies videos without them and I only recognise the man who misbehaved at the RRHoF.
@NewHopeNashFan All you do is look at Terry videos! Come on, is it his guitar-playing (a sore spot for some Nash fans), Terry's crystal-clear (not screechy voice), silky black hair, or all round sex appeal you love the most?
@heymaryann1 I don't care for your idol at all. I am on the lookout for YOU trashing Graham and Allan, as you always do, as you never seem to miss an opportunity to bring up 'poor Terry' every chance you get. I don't care for a nobody like TS at all, especially since he embarrassed himself and puts down Graham and Allan .
Entirely different band. I wonder - what if they had changed their name after Graham and Allan left? Would things have been more fair to all of them, past and present?
Would someone explain the rrhof controversery, I have heard so many versions. It seems that when Nash left the band Alan was very bitter and it showed in his performances he alwasy looked so bitter and Terry And Tony looked terrified of him. When he left Terry and Tony rocked.
@northbaystud Terry was excluded from rehearsals for the rrhof. When he asked abt them he was told only Nash-era songs were to be performed & Terry graciously accepted that. There were NO pics of Terry in the video package at the induction even tho he was in the band a lot longer than Nash. Terry went on stage when LCW was being performed by Clarke, Nash, & some non-Hollies. Terry talked to the non-Hollie singing the song he'd sung '72-'73 on tour when Clarke left. He got the mic.
@northbaystud Terry sang a few lines & Clarke took the mic fr/Terry & gave it to the non-Hollie. Terry didn't make a scene after that, but by going on stage he pointed out the pettiness of Nash/Clarke. Bernie Calvert & Eric Haydock were also there & should've been on stage. They are both active musicians. Nash/Clarke orchestrated the night to be abt them. Some think Clarke's still bitter abt Terry leaving 29 yrs b4 & maybe Nash is bitter bec Terry so successfully replaced him.
@heymaryann1 Why would Graham be bitter? He's in CSN!!!!!! He has a wonderful solo and group career! He's always been the man who wrote all their hits, he's got three doctorates and most of all, a wonderful family. Why he would be jealous of someone the Hollies hired because he was so colourless an individual that he would blend in is beyond anyone who listens to American popular music. TS, on the other hand, has always had a hard act to follow, and should have been grateful to Graham.
@heymaryann1 By not drawing attention to TS' behaviour, Graham and Allan were completely professional in spite of the disruption he had caused. We have gone over this before. Graham and Allan have moved on. You haven't. Maybe Sylvester may have by now... we can only hope he doesn't continue the grudge he has carried on since Robin Britten was fired by Messrs. Hicks and Elliot.
@NewHopeNashFan Thanks for bringing up their manager. Terry's loyalty to Robin is another thing that endeared Terry to me. Blaming the manager, who set the Hollies so they'd be financially secure, was just using him as an excuse for their lagging popularity. New management didn't help & neither did teaming up w/Nash again. The tour & single flopped. I guess everything Nash touches doesn't turn to gold!! I'm sure Hicks/Clarke will be interested to know Nash wrote all their hits.
@heymaryann1 Nash wrote CSN's hits, and several of the Hollies' hits. He did do the lion's share of the songwriting and didn't get credit for it - one reason he left the Hollies was because it wasn't fair to him.
What has your idol done? So many people ask 'Terry who....' and Graham Nash never needs any introductions. It's not just me who could go on and on about the OBE, three doctorates, three books on photography, and the awards just keep on coming, to Graham. Graham -- get it?
@NewHopeNashFan It really is too easy to get you all worked up! It's kind of creepy though how you're so into Nash & his family, etc. Have you ever even met him because, are you sitting down? I have. After a concert on the 1983 tour, certain girls were picked to meet the Hollies backstage. My sister & I were two of the four chosen & Nashie talked to me for a long time. He never mentioned you at all! The whole time I was wishing he was Terry!! (I'll sell you Nash's autograph!!)
@heymaryann1 It's the other way around, really. You just can't face the fact that Terry Sylvester embarrassed himself one evening, and you bash the people you blame for the incident. Sorry, but I have talked to Graham Nash and I have his autograph, too. Big deal...If you are any less knowledgeable about your idol as I am about Graham I would be surprised. Now of course he wouldn't have mentioned me...
All that time you were wishing he was Terry? Oh, Lord. Look in the mirror, baby...
@NewHopeNashFan I liike what I see in the mirror & what I didn't mention before was the guy picking the girls said he wanted some pretty girls to go backstage. So he, or whoever directed him to pick us thought so too! Thanks for bringing it up! I didn't want to brag, but guys seem to like shapely blue-eyed natural blondes with long legs!
@heymaryann1 Oh, come on. You are obviously devoted to Terry Sylvester for words... that's quite all right, you can have him. Do you run the website? (Geez, I thought so...) But you are obsessed with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame incident, so much so that you keep harping on it, and bashing other very important Holllies. It's done with. It's over. Everyone else but you has forgotten about how Sylvester acted on stage that night, and forgiven him. Geez.....
@heymaryann1 TS also had the nerve to dedicate ALL the Hollies awards to Robin Britten - (not a bad man). Perhaps Graham, Allan, Tony, Bobby, Bernie and Eric might have wanted to dedicate their awards to someone else... Ron Richards, for instance? Or Graham to Allan and Allan to Graham? Now I have nothing against Mr. Britten, and never will. But TS... that's another story.
LONG LIVE GRAHAM AND ALLAN, TONY, BOBBY and BERNIE.
@northbaystud I heard Terry in a radio interview months b4 the induction, & he was so excited abt the induction & abt performing with his former bandmates. He had no issues with anyone, mentioned with pride that Nash was already in the rrhof, & described Clarke as 'a lovely man' & the greatest pop singer ever (I agree). He also spoke w/Nash in person at a concert & said he'd be at the induction. Terry was blindsided by the rude treatment of Nash & Clarke who clearly have issues.
@heymaryann1 Graham Nash had NOTHING against TS. He probably still doesn't, although he was probably embarrassed by TS' unexpected behaviour. It may have been 'right' for TS, but wrong for the RRHoF, the Paul Shaffer Band, Maroon 5, Pat Monahan , Steven Van Zandt, and a host of others besides Graham and Allan. Nobody expected TS' display, which was in many respects uncalled for.
I was extremely saddened at how RRHF didn't show not even one pic of Terry. And then I was sickened that Terry was completely left out of their live performance. Good on ya Sly for hopping on stage, you deserved to be there. Allen Clarke's true colors shone bright when he took the mike from Terry's hand. Terry...you truly are a Holly to the end, despite what RRHF & Nash/Clarke did! My personal opinion - you were better than Nash
Once again, Terry Sylvester comes thru for the Hollies. First, when Nash left & here when Clarke left. That should've been pointed out at RRHOF but that would've ruined the fiction that Nash/Clarke were the whole group. GREAT job Terry, Tony, Bernie & Bobby. I've loved THESE Hollies ever since I saw this TV appearance w/out their 'leaders."
Thank you for that. This was the first Hollies lineup I saw live, and I still say it was the best. Terry was given the opportunity to shine, trading lead vocals with Tony and new boy Mikael. They were essentially a NEW band, fresh-sounding and great -looking, too.
Fico triste pela ausência do Alan, mas Terry foi ótimo.
