@JBru11 Yes I do, it will cut down the chance of the actuator burning out by using relays. I know a lot of people that do not have relays and they never have burned up a pump. It may really come down to the level of abuse the actuator goes through. They recommend a certain cool down time after use, but who listens to that lol.
@wwwslabcustomscom LOL. I damn near never let my pump cool down. Always hitting that switch. I have one of those black pumps you showed in this video, and they've been pretty good pumps to me so far! Pops my trunk hauling ass on the freeway with NO PROBLEM! But thanks man for the helpful video! I never really messed with DPDT switches like this, so this video has been SO HELPFUL to me!
I know understand this is a instructional video. To do a neat job. You would not just use electrical tape. You would splice the wires, soldier the wires and use shirk tube. Right
hey was up im goin to put pop trunk with a window motor this switch would work the same sence it has the off in the middle if i when i make the trunk close would i have to switch the switch back to off
@Rnbigd Yeah I heard about that, my homie got his wired like that and you don't have to worry about leaving switch on, also u can tap it and it will stop just like a car window.
Great video man, May want to add to your tags "how to reverse polarity". I'm sure this has helped a LOT of people, Thanks for taking the time to share it with the world!
You guys will want to ask for a DPDT or Double Pole, Double Throw. Ask for a 3 way switch, and watch the asshole at RadioShit laugh at you (and get punched in the throat...) Hope this helps Ya'll. :)
great vid I have to rewire my moms windows and dont want to buy the expensive parts so I am useing toggles glad I found this vid now I know how to hook them up thanks again
about time some one did a video.good work.did ya know to make them faster ,that u can use 18volt drill battery or a 24 volt.i use em now.the trunk waves faster, drawback is u have to recharge after some good usage.

This is probably one of the most helpful videos ever on YouTube! haha.
Do you recommend running relays though? I've heard people burn their pumps up from not using relays...
I have a relay kit for the pop trunk setup on my Impala, but I was just curious if I hook up an actuator this way.
thanks.

What a good way to secure the actuator or what do you use as a base? Or does the actuator screw to the frame of the car inside the trunk?
