How do you figure? It is a shotgun and engaging a scumbag from 5-10 feet away is not hard. A tactical stock and shorter barrel makes the weapon A LOT more easier and faster to employ in a close quaters situation. Instead of having a musket for home defense I now have the perfect weapon. Try clearing your house with a factory 870 then use one that is tactically modified I bet you will choose the tactical one. For longer shots I have my SR556c w/eotech+3x not a problem.

ATI is preddy cheap stuff! The real problem with that stock is the fact you have to take it off every time you want to service your trigger group. That is a real PITA! I am not sure it is worth the effort. I would go with something else like the all in one with the tac rails and shock spring. It is 100 bucks more but so worth it!

@ARCEYE78 I can remember back in the late 70's early 80's my dad had a 12 bore under and over lord shotgun. The remington 870 is pretty bullet proof especially for a pump. I also have a rem 456 semi auto 12 gauge, check it out there is a video posted

what i will say is this.......My 870 has had tons of use with this ati stock apart from being uncomfortable after firing many shots its always performed as it should. It fits perfect does not wobble at all. i have fired this more than most would in a lifetime so i give it total satisfaction

Course, the old model 12s with no disconecter on the sear were nice too. I saw one of those withe an extension tube and a bayonet lug before. It also had USA armiment stamps on it too - used in WWII in the South Pacific Island fighting.

The bolt under the butt plate on my 870 is screwed in REALLY tight. Was yours tight too? Mine takes a flathead screwdriver to get off, but it just won't budge! Any tips on how to get that sucker out?

tap it with a light hammer to shock the thread that may help and use a decent screw driver. My screw came out without much pressure

i am going to alter my answer i will explain. Its quite comfortable to use the folding stock for home defense and occasional use but as of late i have been using this for clay shooting and the stock the other day actually gave me a black eye and a swollen cheekbone!!!! so this is coming off and the original is going back on until i get another 12 bore. Probally getting a semi auto. Hope this has helped.
