You're paying attention, I'll give you that. But it actually is Dinan Stage 2 (why would I lie about that haha) but #1 the gauge wasn't zero'd properly, which was fixed later on after this video was made, and #2 the PSI only really hits max boost in 3rd gear and higher... first gear there is too much wheelspin, and 2nd gear runs out too fast and not enough load to hit max boost.
It's kinda ugly. The gaps and everything. Did you know, that there is a boost gauge on turnermotorsport, which fits into your vent, has the same colour as the dash, and it looks clean and smart.
@skim7x seriously why do you have to do ugly shit like that. You drive a fucking e92 bmw and are afraid to pay a little to make it look nice? cheap bitch
@Elementertainment You may not like the boost gauge, but it's what I have right now, and it's ok by me. I do have other priorities right now (working a lot and not getting paid much =P). I hope as you mature in life, you'll learn to express yourself in a more decent manner. Just a little advice -- it will get you a long way.
@kregzdeM3Your right it is ugly, that gauge looks like a clock in a mountain. The one your talking about looks clean but the vent control tab will pretty much be lose less.
Looks great man! Very nice touch. The performance gains from the Dinan flash must have been incredible... How do you like the flash > performance wise?
@IrishChris1979 To be honest, the performance gains from the Dinan are significant, but modest. You can go with a couple other big tunes (JB3 and PROcede) which will get you even MORE power and at this point in the game are very reliable.
Yup! I love my Stage 2... not as quick as the competition, but you get your warranty, which has REALLY paid off for me... enjoy the extra power, man... drive safely!
I could be wrong but i think its faster than the JB3. The JB3 website says it only adds an extra 80 lbs/tq and ours pushes it up to 421. I'll have to test it against my boy's coupe with his engine light on. I would feel bad if he blows up his engine and has to pay out of pocket to get it fixed.
Thanks, bro... Yup! I'm from Houston, but in San Antonio now. I drive around town pretty aggressively and still get about 18mpg city driving... on the freeway I get about 26mpg.
No, stock exhaust. Personally, I think the sound of the stock exhaust is fine and it's not worth spending even $500 for maybe 5rwhp and a change in sound.
Nope, you can just buy Stage 2 from the get-go... actually there never used to be a "Stage 1"... the current "stage 2" used to be the only one available. They only made a Stage 1 for more conservative buyers who didn't want as much power.
Hey man this is sick. I was thinking about getting the Dinan tune done...Is the tune a flash thats done through the OBD port or something without having to pop the hood? I'd really prefer that as apposed to getting all into the ECU wiring. If you could let me know how the tune is installed I'd appreciate it. Keep up the good work!
The flash is done through the OBD port and no wiring is changed from the original stock setup. Let me know if you have any more questions! I've had the Dinan for over a year now and it's never failed me or given me any problems.
If I have a local Dinan dealer (which I do) can I just go directly to them to have the flash done or do i HAVE to send something to California before the flash is done and have my car out of commision while i wait? cause that would suck.. thanks
It depends on the year of your car. The last I heard (several months ago) only the '08 and later BMW models had to actually take the ECU out and ship it to Dinan in Cali... even then, it was a 2-day turnaround -- not too bad. BUT, by now I would have expected Dinan to have fixed this problem, so you most probably won't have to send your ECU anywhere -- it should be able to be reprogrammed right at the Dinan Dealership... call them and ask a Dinan representative.
thanks, man... it makes a significance in power and you keep your warranty in tact. And yeah, I think I peak boost at like, 12.5... not quite 13... you'd make a little more power with stage 3, but for more than twice the cost... not worth it in my opinion. Go with stage 2, you won't be disappointed!

This is not a Dinan Stage 2 - Dinan stage 2 hits 12psi, without any other supporting mods... so ya, def not stage 2

@kregzdeM3 Yeah, it was free though... so i took it... not the nicest or most OEM looking, but whatever... does the job.

Awesome setup.
I couldn't help but notice your stickers... Are you by chance from Texas. We've got the same style registration/emissions stickers on our windshields.
Also... aside... is the 335i get decent mileage even with the Dinan ECU upgrade? Just wondering...

Thanks for the info bro.
I'm still breaking in my 09 but after that I think I will definitely get the Dinan flash.
Did you change your exhaust?

I agree, the stock exhaust sounds so bomb plus it makes it more of a sleeper that way.
I really love this car, I just got rid of my 06 CTS-V for it and I'm sure glad I did. The V was fast but just not as refined.
Do I have to buy a stage 1 flash before I can buy the stage 2? Sorry for all the questions man.

Sick Vid.
I just got an 09 335i and i'm still breaking it in. I'm thinking about a Dinan flash ecu upgrade. Did it make a big difference in your car?
I thought it changed the boost from 8 to something like 13 - would that be a stage 3 or something?
Thanks
