Only just discovered your uploads and find them absolutely fascinating. You must spend a huge amount of time researching & collecting all this footage.Thank God for the internet, lol. I'm not a monarchist/royalist,but the fact remains the European royals are an intrinsic part of our history, especially Queen Victoria's determination that her children marry into Europe thereby keeping her family close by & intact! Excellent presentations!
Supposedly she only married her first husband (he was also her cousin) at the urging of Queen Victoria. Queen Victoria lived long enough to see the marriage was a mistake and swore she would never match her grand children again.
Victoria Melita caught her husband in bed with a male servant and she soon started an affair with her Russian cousin. She caused a scandal when she divorced her husband to run off with her lover.
@manuelherrera777 It should have been a good idea for their particular case. But she felt in love with Kyrill before her marriage when she was really young. I don't think to blame only Ernst Ludwig about their marriage failure was not fair, she was also to blame. I think that the reason was not the fact that she caught him but the fact that they are incompatibles at many levels.
@lostsplendour You are right, they were a bad match from the first, and never should have married. Victoria Melita's mother was never very fond of her English in-laws and this wedding to Ernest made her more bitter towards her husband's family. Ironically during WWI, Victoria Melita's mother supported Germany, though Victoria Melita was supporting Russia.
@richfincm Victoria Melita was born in Malta and spent most of her childhood in England. Her father was Alfred Duke of Edinburgh Queen Victorias second son, her mother Maria Alexandrovna the only daughter of Alexander the II of Russia. Ducky lived in Hesse only during her marriage to her cousin Ernst of Hesse who was the son of her fathers sister Alice.
I forgot to add to the twisted connection. Victoria Melitta aka Ducky was a sister to Queen Marie of Romania, and her first husband Ernst of Hesse was a brother to Empress Alexandra Romanova.
@dayspook thankyou for the explanation. I tried to reply earlier more fully, but was exposed to youtube sillies...I hope this reaches you. thanks again.

Elizabeth II's daughter Anne reminds me of "Ducky" in a small way. :)

@richfincm Ducky looks more like the current Royal family than anyone else does.

@dayspook Thankyou for that explantation, I did not know who she was. She looks like a sad lady. If only we knew the truth of her life! Thanks again.

Some of these desendents of Queen Victoria had such funny faces.. long heads and wide mouths with no chin. Bulbus pop eyes shadowed by fuzzy brows.
Victoria Melita was one of those.
