  • Where to draw the line?

Don't do to others things you don't want done to yourselves.

  • one guy was impeached over a personal infidelity, while the other wrote a book endorsing torture and invading a country with fabricated provocation. do you know how many times we've done that?

  • HELLO !! The republicans were already threatening subpoena's before they even won the midterms !! And not even for anything even CLOSE to egregious as these crimes !!! Ask these follow up questions please !!!

  • Chuck Todd is a piece of shit treasonous propagandizing bastard. Glenn Greenwald for president. We haven't seen this much honesty and intelligence in one package since Jefferson.

  • @sssssjjjj1 . I agree. I have never been as impressed by anyone as I am by Glenn Greenwald

  • dollars to doghnuts that the host is an asset of the CIA

  • You run a doughnut shop right?

  • nil bud, youver got nil brain if you think TYT is an indepenmdent media outlet...HAHA... such a child like mind...its cute

  • You fucking moron you can't read a sentence, what gives you the idea that you could possibly know how a Human thinks? The stupidity of you right wing morons never ends. You always like to pretend you know how others think and you ALWAYS get it completely wrong. I know exactly how your sad existence goes because I'm very intelligent, educated and sharp. You are a fucking imbecile only capable of repeating horseshit from glen beck and his cohorts,.

    What next, chess with Kasparov?

  • First of all, if you WERE intelligent, most of what you wrote wouldn't be here..

    1. I'm no right winger

    2. I hate Glenn beck

    3. Only an idiot believes in the left/right paradigm..

You think the people who control our government and economy care about gay marriage?? haha

you are far more ignorant than you will ever understand... I feel sorry for you.

  • Oh yeah yeah you're the wise one. So just how many CIA assets are there then? What percentage of the population? Keep away from the James Ellroy it's fucking up your worldview.

You are the problem, whining excuses for why it's all pointless anyway. You act like a republican teabagger. You made the stupid mistake of putting words in my mouth.

You have only paranoid delusions and despair to spread. You need to look at yourself and ask why you're the problem not the solution.

  • hmmm... whining excuses...

you mean the video i made titled " how to beat the nwo"

    suuure im the problem...

  • You frightened pawn you go ahead and stop the NWO you uneducated dupe.

  • with all due respect, it is a classic debate technique, to attack your opponent, when your argument is hopeless.

do you deny there is a NWO?

if so.. thats good.. because.. i promise.. they are killing you.. and i laugh at your SUPREME intellect..

lol ....ding... ring up yet another round for me.

  • Yes your delusions win over reality in your mind, yet again. Now pay attention there is no NWO, that's your tiny mind under the influence of your hero Alex Jones fucking with you, again.

Your problem is that you're stupid, just plain not too bright. It's compounded by the notion you have that you're a big old brainbox. So how come a big old brainbox like you has no clue about reality and dwells in a land of make believe and fairytales? oops back to my original point, you're thick.

  • you are angry...

    that tells me.. im winning

  • You know so much, I suppose that happens when you don't bother with the truth. Watch out for the chem trails and the black helicopters.

  • The media is owned by corporate America, the government is, we are.The coporations tell the government what to do, the government tells the media, who act like cheerleaders and we sit and chew our cud and go 'Yep, next Hitler." And it's the same no matter what the party, the Republicans are just more obvious about not giving a damn about people while the Dems throw us a bone once in a while. But how is it going to change? Anybody who thinks they can change it is dreaming. Big time. $ talks..

  • Why don't you just sit on your fat hole and do nothing about it.

    They're fucking you because you're a pussy.

  • look at the videos i make you retard.. and tell meif i'm a right winger...

    you are are totally asleep...

  • media is owned, just like government. so long as a majority of people view events according to how the media portrays them and interprets them, then that's all that matters to corporations. who needs to control votes when you can shape people's opinions and let them think they're making a free choice?

  • I think that Cenk's right, but this isn't really the problem.

Of course Networks are going to have some slant, whether it be extreme or slight. But, this is how they are funded and structured.

I believe that the American people themselves have the most accountability by taking lazy approaches to politics.

People choosing one source of information and basing their whole philosophies off it leads to an all-around sense of ignorance and hostility towards each other.

    Debates become arguments.

  • the media is the agent of the govt? Its called propaganda - it was the way of the day in commie Russia because everyone was making a buck. Its a damn shame our ideals have not shielded us as a country from the corruption of power. A damn shame.

  • There is NO argument against what GG is saying. There is political ideology, but absolutely no argument.

  • Fuck Todd!

    There, I said it

  • Mainstream media is OWNED by Corporate America. Corporate America PAYS politicians (lobbying) to do their bidding...

So, does media cover for government?

    What do YOU think?

    It's a slam-dunk in my opinion...

  • I couldn't agree with Glenn more. Is it really too much to ask to have leaders that follow the law and will be prosecuted when they don't?! And yes, I'm talking about leaders from both parties. No one should be above the law - period. It doesn't seem like it should be such a difficult concept to grasp.

  • when you have layers telling layers thy are ignorant. and ignorant is no excuse. its layers fighting the war.what is legal or not we defer.but the layers are exempt.

  • No it is not an issue Cenk. How about administrations don't break the fucking law?

  • Though Greenwald bashes both of them.

  • countdown till cronkite crawls out of his grave and vomits all over the media phonies who are eulogizing him.

  • Apparently you haven't seen his video on Obama's signing statement. And by the way, most of the 'corruption' you talk about is in the Republican party. He isn't reporting on as many of the Democrat's shortcomings as the Republican's shortcomings because the Republicans are the ones making all the stupid and crazy (and also newsworthy) statements and actions.

  • You don't know what you are talking about.

Look at every other video this week.

Even pay attention to this video.

He's been bashing obstructionist democrats who are on the payroll of the insurance company and are standing between Americans and health care so they can make a profit.

The right is so transparent it's painful. They run out of reasonable objections and then it always degrades into projection. Same goes for the young Earth creationists, which often fill their ranks.

  • I think that it is sensible to want to study this new health care bill, considering the speed at which it was written, and at the speed through which this administration is pushing through legislation.

I really don't know why Obama feels he needed to get health care through this year. This was supposed to be the year we cleaned up after the last 8 years.

  • Presidents are always above the law, except when they get blown!

  • lol even when the ones accusing the President are THEMSELVES cheating on their wives

  • Are ya'll back to this again, Their political opponents are going to get Bush/Cheney on torture, and going after previous heads-of-state sets horrible precedent. And the law doesn't apply to pirates, terrorists, franc-tireurs, spies etc. Their very actions render them outside such protections. There's no worse tyrany than the idea of all are equal before the law, equality is the polar opposite of liberty. This is exactly the kind of continual harrasment that drove Gov Palin out of office.

  • Going after previous heads of state for CRIMES sets a GREAT precedent...

going after previous heads of state for POLICY differences is what you are confusing here..

and as a matter of fact, besides the IDOCY inherent in your logic, the fact remains that the president is SWORN IN to uphold the constitution..which would include going after those who have violated this oath.

No one is 'beyond the law' or 'outside' it, that's not only illegal its retarded and politically dangerous..a bad precedent..

  • It is a horrible precedent because all such operations are polical, even if their targets are the worst sort of scoundrel. Such circumstances make is so that no one would take any sort of office of responsibility without an Act of Congress granting them immunity(legal and civil) first.

The President is also called upon to defend the Constitution(note: not the citizenry) and is legally provided with cover from the more noxious things that requires. Assasinations, spying, covert actions etc.

  • So...the alternative...ignore it, just let them get away with whatever they choose to do while incumbent with the knowledge that no one will prosecute or even investigate what you've done with your power until long after your term and probably your death...

    no that's definitely better..

I also think we should stop trying people for murder because one of these days we're going to prosecute an innocent man..so let's be on the safe side and let 'the worst sort of scoundrels' off the hook..

  • Oh, you also must have missed that 'we the people' bit...

or the 'for the people, by the people, and of the people' in the Gettysburg address..yeah, a republican said this country was by of and for the PEOPLE..

I suppose the Constitution and the US Govt are Limited Liability Corporations?

  • You make my case for me sir. Lincoln is the perfect example of a President defending the Republic and the liberties enshrined in the Constitution while ordering killed or ordering to their death more Americans than have been killed in any other conflict in their history. And yes, it is far better than ten murderers walk free than one innocent man be condemned.

  • Oh..you should be president.

Nevermind that Lincoln was purportedly doing so on the behest of the rights of the slaves..

generations, millions of people to come..

I like your idea of the law- if they are a 'terrorist' just kill them, what-have-you..of course who decides they are a terrorist? A court of law? Or just a guy with a pen?

And yet the POTUS is immune from the law in his own country..

and that the POTUS is to protect the constitution not the people- who does the constitution protect?

  • The President, the Secretary of Defence, among others, do have the authority to determine who are enemies of the US and order action against them. They're not immune from the law, but they do have legal cover for the more unsavory aspects of what their jobs require of them.

The President protects the Republic and the liberties of the people, but doesn't get to take away the liberties of the people in the name of protecting them. There is no safety in this world short of the grave anyway.

  • Wow, you know fuck-all about the constitution man..

try READING it once or twice before spouting off about it..

    CONGRESS declares war...

The executive branch wields NO diplomatic immunity- ahem..that would be hegemony or monarchy, or better phrased totalitarianism.

I'm sure glad you aren't a lawyer, or worse a judge. Now buzz off trying to 'learn' me somethin' because I'm way ahead of you pal.

Take a look into Operation Northwoods- tell me the POTUS and SECDEF would have been ok to carry it out?

  • Try out the National Security act of 1947, sir. And Congress hasn't bothered to delcare war since Dec 8, 1941 and we've certainly conducted military and intelligence operations since then.

Also given a certain set of circumstances, that never came to be, Operation Northwoods or Mongoose could easily have been given a go order for operations against Cuba in the early '60s with little or no repercussion. That is how we got into the Spanish-American, Mexican American, WWI, and Vietnam.

  • Truman...

hmm..funny, the NSA of 47 was a Democratic conception, and Truman, considered great, yet once paid for the initiation fee into the KKK in 1922...

also, the NSA of 47 created the CIA aside from the SECDEF and merging the Depts of War and Navy..

so, let me ask, which side do you come down on?

The KKK-CIA spying-Democrat-NSA 1947 or the Constitution-civil liberties-We-the-people-Republican side, or has the line been so thoroughly blurred you can't tell which is which anymore?

  • I don't think Truman was all that bad, I'd put him in the top three Presidents. And KKK allegations aside, he did de-segregate the military at great political cost. As to the NSA of 47, I think the creation of the CIA was a good thing, but can argue against merging SEC of Navy and War into Defense and separating the Air Force from the Army. On sides, I suggest the question is how to better approach the war on terror; from a police/lawyer or intelligence/military perspective. I say the latter.

  • But I for one do not believe that they were making these points to create safety.

  • A war crime is a war crime.

You don't suspend the constitution to defend it. The whole terrorism scare was a tactic to gain political leverage in the first place. More people have died from bee stings in the United States than terrorists. The few people who do die from a bombing that could have been prevented by an immoral overuse of government power have given their lives for freedom.

Freedom is NOT free, but absolute security is not possible. Given the choice I'd prefer to die free.

  • you guys are fucking idiots

  • This show need to focus on things like this.. and stop BS about other BS the Corporate media covers..

  • This is another duh! interview. Of course the media is corrupt.

  • The media is just as bad as the crimes they report.Talk about the things that are helpful and inspirational.

  • Criminal acts have more coverage on the news. You don't hear that much about the inspirational things Americans do every day.The media is unbalanced. The message from the media is to inspire people to disobey the law to gain exposure.

  • Glenn will always call a spade a spade, and his reporting on gov't and media corruption, torture, the financial frauds being laid on the taxpayer, is simply 2nd to none. His articles are ALWAYS well researched, and linked to back up what he says. I know the only way I'm going to hear the truth about these issues is to read what he's talking about, because the rotting core of the mainstream media is all about maintaining the status quo and propagandizing the public. The MSM is corporate owned!

  • the young turks are typically arrogent sob's, this wasnt so bad. Greenwald is one of a very unbiased writters in the US. he is one of the 'journalists' left in the nation (as opposed to propagandists like fox/cnn/nbc/abc/cbs). is articles should be a daily read for an impartial view of US news.

  • great interview. hope to hear more

  • I hope more people hear it. I worry that these really meaty wonderful interviews don't get enough exposure.

  • To get these Executive Branch criminals to clean up their act, the Department of Justice should be moved from the Executive Branch to the Judicial Branch.

  • Salon rocks. Glenn just nailed it across the board (no puns intended).

Let the Republicans tear up the Democrats. They can only do it because the Democratic leadership is dishonest. The Republicans are so stupid they are forgetting that the Democrats are their enablers.

When two evil forces are fighting, it gives the little guy a chance to beat them both. Let them eat each other, prosecute each other for their crimes, and while they're weak maybe we can get some honest people in.

  • Anytime anyone purposely tries to kill or unjustly punish some one they themselves should be punished.

  • In this case they not only punished innocent people, but punished the guilty beyond reason.

  • The Bush administration has shown to be one of if not the worst in American history. It's time we show the rest of the world how we feel about their actions by bringing them to justice.

  • Too bad Obama or the Dem Congress aint gonna do it.

  • They sought to bring other countries to democracy while bringing their own seat of power closer to a dictatorship. We can not let this hypocrisy stand if we want to be taken seriously as a nation.

  • If Obama breaks the law, he can share a cell with Bush & Cheney.

  • Laws are made to be broke, at every levels.

  • Of course he should be immunized. International criminal laws are only for our enemy. They ware made to legally hang defeated high ranking enemies...

  • this was a great interview

  • glenn greenwald=absolute legend.

  • This country needs more like Glenn Greenwald. He's keeping it real FOR REAL.

  • A simple fact is being overlooked in the Bush-era torture scandal: the number of cases in which detainees have been tortured to death. Abuse did not only involve the high-profile cases of smashing detainees into plywood barriers (walling), confinement in coffin-like boxes with insects, sleep deprivation, cold, and waterboarding. To date approximately 100 detainees, including CIA-held detainees, have died during U.S. interrogations, and some are known to have been tortured to death. J Sifton

  • Not enough.

  • Democrats have no balls

  • Hey Mr Obvious :D

  • chuck todd is a ridiculous moron.

  • the way right wingers went ape shit over Clinton yet gave Bush all the support in the world when he was at his most retarded really pissed me off

  • WHY TA;K RADIO DUDE ARE MOST OF THE fat

  • Just gotta ask: is this gentleman somehow related to Robert Greenwald?

  • Fantastic interview Young Turks! Thanks for having this guy on.

  • heheheh scientology ads ftw lolz hehehe bwahahahahah

  • Every higher level of status has less and less accountability to the law. For instance: Hitler, or George Bush. It means that loyalty to the conspiracy of leadership is all the law they will ever need. The difficulty is that leaders while controlling money are indifferent to fair play and believe that lying, conspiracy, back stabbing are in the Bill of Rights. These leaders might otherwise be known as Satan's Children or Baal's babies. They are born with self tayloring credibilty suits.

  • Every level of status has different dealings with law. If the law were a bully, it could kill the person being bullied, then there would be no recourse because the bully simply won by murder. People actually do believe they are superior because they can cheat, lie, and bully then get "a win" by deceit. These traits primarily are bullying or Republican . Quite often false accusation bullying works best, because it is not an official crime, and is a non crime for an normal status creeps.

  • Goldman Executive Named as Obama Adviser

President Obama said Friday he would nominate Robert Hormats, a vice chairman of Goldman Sachs International, to a top economic position at the State Department.

  • PLEASE keep pushing for prosecution, don't let this topic fade

  • At least some Reps are chasing Obama with the insane birther conspiracy already, so this distraction or precedent for retaliation is irrelevant.

  • fuck chuck...nigga is a bitch...

  • Chuck Todd is a fucking joke.

  • 'The Media' is not covering for the government.

They are covering their own asses.

  • i keep seeing these gay scientology ads next to the videos...

well, nothing to do but click on them a hundred times. hopefully i can help run scientology out of business.

  • It's better than the Coulter ads. That lady is ugly.

  • i keep getting "FREE NEWT"!

    :-(

  • yeah, I am getting kinda sick of the scientology ads too, I am thinking of dropping my subscription :(

  • they dont control the youtube ads though do they?

  • Nope, Scientology does. They control it all.

  • don't unsubscribe, tyt doesn't choose to place those ads there, google does.

  • Also, this is an excellent interview, and TYT has really exposed something important here. Unsubbing wouldn't make any sense.

  • Richard Nixon believed that if he did it, it was not illegal. So did Cheney. So did Hermann Goering.

  • the press hasn't been a news media since it was bought by the corporations..

  • This is old news.

  • My respects to Glenn Greenwald!

  • great video

  • in other words, Obama will be in trouble one of these days too because he is a war monger lite version, but still war is hell. Maybe he should DECLARE war before he sends drones in with hellfire missles to the next wedding party.

  • Without a doubt Greenwald is one of the most cogent commentators on the condition of modern politics and the Fourth Estate. I love his work.

  • Great interview! The material covered is interesting and needs to be addressed. Both Cenk and Glenn make lots of good points.

  • When Palin becomes POTUS, she will EXPOSE the leftist agenda of the media and rile the conservative American people against the news medias in ways that make the Letterman protests look pale in comparision. Palin will issue executive orders to CLOSE DOWN all liberally biased news channels such as MSNBC and CNN and make Fox News THE national news channels.

  • Excellent Troll is excellent; to use the parlance of our times. ;)

  • LOL.

  • And welcomen to Soviet/third reich

  • excellent interview.

  • Turn Bush and his partners in crime over to Spain. Give them all the evidence they need to lock them away in a nice little French prison full of sodomites.

  • wow this guy is very articulate. made fully developed points on air, which is rare. most people make half assed arguments not b/c they are ignorant but they just get disorganized and forget.

  • Point well made... I hope people look closely at what Glenn says about the basis of why there is a rule of Law...

  • You are first, and no one cares. Why not actually comment on the video rather than look like a huge dork.

  • You apparently care enough to comment... what do YOU think about the video?

    :P

  • haha, I knew that was coming, and your right to make the comment. However, I do not have a lot to say about the video, it's hard to comment on something you agree whole heartedly with.

  • *grins*

So were you trolling the troller?

or were you trolling the troller who trolled the troller? ...wait

...sorry that was me trolling the troller who trolled the troller.

    :P

I agree with Greenwald and I like Cenks interviewing technique where he asks different viewpoint questions to get a more rounded response.

    :)
