  • This is what I love about You Tube. Being able to take a trip down memory lane to revisit one of the most spectacular victories in the history of NCAA basketball. Georgetown had this arrogance that I found intolerable. I'm sure that arrogance led to complacency & it ultimately cost them.

  • Holy Crap stop saying stuff about how unfair it was for Georgetown and how Villanova got lucky just shut it, if anything Villanova had it unfair! they were the underdog. They were the ones predicted to lose, and they were the ones who pulled off the UPSET fair and square alright jeez

  • Georgetown refused to take the short jumpers they were being given all night. Villanova was backed way down into the paint, but G'town just wouldn't shoot.

  • hahaha that halftime muzak sounds like something one would hear off of an old softcore porn. lol

  • a lot of racist crap went on back then, the refs were always against john thompson and georgetown in title games. John was not afraid to say what he felt, and it cost him titles.

  • @redskins2k I agree that there may have been some anti-G'Town sentiment, but in reality, they only had three title capable teams ('82, '84, and '86). MAYBE the team in '91 that lost to UNLV with Mutombo and Mourning. That's really it

  • It took 79% from the field to win. I call that a fluke. But it does not change the outcome.

  • They fouled the shit out of Ewing ALLLLLLL night.

  • nova nation

  • Gary mcclain took a cue from aaron pryor, cheated using illegal drugs.Massimino knew,Ncaa?Does nothing, nice. But no,you can't put a black eye on one of the big marketing tools during march madness.Bad for business, dollars always the dollars.

  • @TheGatorfan93 i don't think you understand what cocaine does to you, he shouldn't have used it but it doesn't make you a machine, it makes you play worse and crash. Also i don't think he started snorting or shooting up on the sidelines or on the bench during the games. The main thing to be worried about with cocaine use is the long term effects on a person.

  • almost 26 years & i still am sick over this

  • @southplnk knowing this makes this win that much sweeter- even after all this time.

Nova never got the respect they deserved. They beat G-Town in 84 in double OT at the Cap Centre! They did manage to beat Ewing a couple times during his college career.

  • One of the biggest upsets in NCAA Basketball History

  • worst narrator ever!!!

  • we are a group of 4 college students - dedicated Kentucky fans - please take 3 minutes to support our effort BigBlueNCAAChamps -dot - com

  • I remember i was a freshmen at texas tech when this happened there were 20 guys packed in our dorm room man we went crazy never seen nothing like it since everyone on the tt campus was going crazy we hated georgetown

  • gary mcclain=cheating son of a bitch, used coke to keep his endurance

  • too bad the coke did not help out his endurance...he wasn't a cheater, he was young immature and stupid

  • @TheGatorfan93 apparently you've never used coke

  • @SyrenniaLestrange: Villanova had already taken care of UNC before they got to the Final Four. And what more could you want in a national championship game than this one?

  • Georgetown was such a classless team that night. That cheap shot at the end of the half and when they pulled down the Nova player from behind. Then Ewing after the game just couldn't believe they lost. To all the Nova fans, my friends and I were sitting at the bar at Kelly's that night(a night we will never forget!!!)

  • i was 9 years old when this game took place in 1985

  • I think the key to their victories was Harold Jensen time and again coming up with the big jumper.

  • This win was so satisfying to me. I hated John Thompson. He was a dirty player and it carried on during his coaching career. He was such a damn racist. When he coached the Olympic team he only had one white player and when reporters asked him about it he joked that "the white boy is our token player" and he got away with that. Can you imagine if Bob Knight had said that about a black player? He would have been crucified. So Im glad they lost and I even to this day root against Georgetown.

  • He was a racist? hmm well then why did he name escherick over riley to take over? Why did he start brian kelly when other players were clearly more talented?Your an idiot, and im so glad that mcclain had to cheat like aaron pryor to get an edge

  • John Thompson was a racist who allowed only black players on his roster. He wouldn't have recruited Bill Walton if he'd had the chance. He used to motivate his players with an "us vs. them" speech when playing a team with white players. Thus this loss must have been particularly devastating to him.

  • Took the words out of my mouth. His teams played dirty as hell. Especially in this game on numerous occasions. Great game though.

  • Dirty as hell?why because some scrub back up center shoves williams from behind and he retalites he's dirty? On the documentary the coward says ''oh he shoved me then ran away''.He didn't run away,he nonchalantly jogged off the court, while you stood like a little bitch hoping someone would come to your rescue. And isn't it funny how gtown is known as the classless thugs, but novas point guard takes coke to gain an edge, pathetic. The hoyas showed alot of class after that game, think nova would?lolscum

  • Critter at 5:49.

  • I was a young reserve officer (2nd Lt.) in the military service then, but still vividly remember this great upset. What is not depicted in the video clip pertains to the final 65 seconds or so in that Nova's point guard simply froze the game tempo by holding the basketball for more than 50 seconds before the final shooting attempt (no possession time rule then). A marvelous strategy well executed by impeccable peformance at the right time. Georgetown lost this game due to God's will!

  • 0:06 pj carlisimo

  • One of the greatest championship games of all time. Villanova Wildcats, 1985 & 2009 National Champions!

  • hell yea go nova!

  • I think this is the best example of a perfect game, not just in College Basketball, but in American Sports History. Does anyone agree?

  • aCTUALLY, YOURE RIGHT MY DAD KNEW EVERYONE OF THEM HE WAS IN SCHOOL WITH THEM,THIS WAS KIND OF UNFAIR TO GEORGETOWN THOUGH BECAUSE VU'S GARY MCLAIN WAS ON DRUGS BUT THIS WAS TRULY AMAZING I MEAN PATRICK EWING! ED PICKNEY! VILLANOVA IS GOING TO WIN THIS YEAR IM SHURE ABOUT IT WITH SCOTTY REONALDS SEONAIR SEASON NEXT YEAR THEY HAVE TO WIN!

  • It was Dwayne that had the great game- and Eddie of course, not so much Gary on this one

  • Im sure gary wasnt the only one you cant blame anything on him and nova could win this year, were in the final four and playin realy well

  • Yeah But there going up against a tough UNC team

  • Gary McLain did marijuana which really wouldn't help his game at all, if anything make him somewhat lethargic and prob. hungry. Not an advantage.

Seen guys play hockey high, not very coordinated.

  • ya villanova

  • LET'S GO NOVA!!!

  • HAHA. I got a letter saying that I am invited to be privately trained with Rollie Massimino and u guys dont got one. HAHAHA.
