Just as we evolved to eat meat, we can evolve not to. I have not eaten meat in one year. I know a man who has been a vegetarian for 16 years now and can run a 16:30 5k. Does that sound like a malnourished being? All specific species go extinct over time but it is not necessary for us to die off. Live has never died on this planet. Your body contains a 3b year old unbroken chain of life. There is no need for this to end. We have the knowledge and ability to change everything we do.
What a joke, this skinny fuck spreading lies about vegetarinism. Take a good look at your average vegetarian, they look like walking death. This is because meat and dairy products supply many vital nutrients that we need in our diet in order to be healthy.
I call myself a vegetarian every time I'm going out to eat. But at home, if I know the farm and conditions they live in, I will eat poultry. Human beings have evolved to eat meat. It was ate everywhere while we were hunter & gatherers. Just like how most people of European (and probably other)descent are evolved to drink milk, and Native cultures lived off just Buffalo. If the farm is organic and FreeRange/FreeRun, it's okay by me.
Jsweenie, you're an idiot. Unlike you and the use of this comments section for your personal blog, I'll leave my comment short and sweet...defining you and your thoughts with that one word: idiot/idiotic.
Reasons to be vegi 1/ animals aware and have value 2/They should not be treated as product for consumption 3/we have a choice, natural not need come into it. 4/meat contributes more co2 that transport, 20% not including methane etc. re UN study 5/To become better person, less selfish 6/health? 7/unsustainable in growing world 8/one day will be seen as slave trade seen 9/collapsing fish stocks and environments, we don't want to go extinct Just because everyone likes meat does not mean its ok.
i eat meat. I do think the meat industry could be concerned with quality of meat over profit (that's where the antibiotics, hormones, animal testing etc all stem from). But that isn't so much a issue of animal cruelty as it is greed which is the MAIN problem in western culture. Technology exists to have oil refineries have a near pure oxygen output. Costs cut profits, so it hasn't happened. Even if it did who is to say that wouldn't throw everything back out of balance. Anyways I've ranted enuff
has only been interpreted to people by people. And our understanding of the planet we live on is limited. Some schools of thought indicate all energy is interconnected, if that is true than there is no distinction between humans, animals, trees or even rocks or mountains. Everything and everyone plays a part in how things work, and I don't think we are smart enough to truly understand our effect. Do what makes you happy but I'm not gonna stop eating meat because i like it and I feel better when
that person (in this case species) feel better, whether it be a comforting feeling, or a feeling of self worth in saving something, but ultimately it is an excersize in futility as no person can fight nature. Every species has an effect on its surrounding ecosystem. So do we. Whether that effect is negative or positive is an interpretation we make as people based on statistics and studies portrayed in media, through texts, or online databases. Our effect on our surroundings on a global sense
I have attempted to understand the people who have adopted veganism. And this video gave me a different idea on the topic, but ultimately when we go extinct (we will), our lasting effect on this planet will eventually be zero. Saving endangered species is possibly the most arrogant of any crime AGAINST nature, as species naturally do go extinct. Saving an endangered species is like putting a once strong human being on life support hoping they will wake up. It can make everyone who appreciated
but some of the thoughts that seem to coincide with it. I will never be a supporter of PETA, as I have found that their crusade against animal cruelty often crosses the line of appropriateness (case in point, calling out Steve Irwin before he had started decomposing). Yes I do realize extremist groups sometimes must go to some extreme measures, but any organization with the word ethical in their title should understand the concept of respect for the dead, animal or otherwise.
but some of the ignorant people who seem to make up a majority of it. Comments such as we are ruining the earth and our effect on the Ozone layer are absurd. In actuality we have not affected the earth in a massive way other than cutting down some forests (they'll grow back somewhere else in balance with the ecosystem) and our mass production of livestock. All species go extinct, and when humans do whether it be in 100 years or 1000, there will be no lasting affects on the earth or its ecosyt...
I want to preface this by saying I love Michael Franti's music, and both times I have seen him perform I was overwhelmed by his stage presence.
That being said, veganism is not natural living as some people would have you believe. Human beings are omnivores, and we naturally do need meat as part of our diet. However, the way 99% of meat is harvested and processed in western culture especially is equally if not more unnatural. My main issue with veganism isn't necessarily the action of it in....
what's the point of nonsense comments like "i had a tasty prime..." whatever the fuck?! i don't understand how selfish deathatarians think they are doing anything other than making themselves look ignorant with such comments. such a waste of time to argue the issue. obviously eating murdered animals impacts every last one of us if you're level-headed enough to understand that all life is connected. animal agriculture is toxifying the landbase, the water, and harming humans and other animals.
I can`t stress enough how important a bi anual colon cleansing is if you are a meat eater. This also includes the high carb eaters. The bread and pizza fans. The first treatment will amaze you! Even the second. But after a few treatments, you can taper off to anual. Trust me. This simple regiment will shock and change you for the better. Does not involve foreign objects in your backside. It is done herbally. So, You can eat more MEAT!
Meat is not bad if it is REAL meat. Organic! Portion is a great contributor to societies illness. I like my cow, lamb and fish. And yes, Pork! Active people with a well balanced diet need not fear meat if they are buying quality product. This is a better option than going cold turkey on meat. The Shots and the diet of the animals is what is making people sick. Not meat itself. We are supposed to eat it. A non regulated vegan diet is more harmful. Quality food and portion control is is key.
That doesn't matter anymore. We have a severe water crisis coming at us soon, and a lot of the water we use goes into the production of meat. Water to grow the grain they're fed, water for the cows themselves, water in the factory to prepare the meat, etc. Not to mention the global warming damage done through the production of methane by all those unnecessary cattle being produced. We can get all the protein we need from other sources, and B12 too.
I have just started not eating meat. My reasoning has to do with not hurting or causing pain to other life. I am not sure if eggs that are not fertile and milk fall into that reasoning. I liked meat. Part of me still does. I have dreams of just about eating hambugers. It has been a month now since I quit and the dreams just get more vivid. lol, I feel like I am trying to quit an addiction. lol
I am unsure as to whether eating meat is wrong or not, I just feel it might be so I quit.
I still dream of hambugers. They keep geting bigger. They are huge now. Bigger then a mans head.
lol
You should see them, they are so beautiful. But I always wake up before I get to sink my teeth in them. Almost makes me what to cry, I never seen a hambuger like them in real life.
I think about going out and geting a burger every now and then. I just never seem to get around to it. Plus it doesn't hurt that I like vegetables. Even with out meat I still have a lot of choices as to what to eat. Also I still drink milk and eat dairy products and eggs. They don't fall into my reasons for giving up meat. I also started eating more east indian cuisine. It you like curry, which I do, you will find they have some good vegiterian choices.
Dairy products cause more harm to more animals than meat, because the animals that are confined to "give" (read; have forcibly taken from them) milk and eggs to us are abused more brutally than "meat" animals. A cow needs to give birth at least once a year to a calf that is forcibly taken from her and slaughtered for veal—if he's a male. Female calves are used for milking until they're "too old"—just a few years, when we know the natural life span of a cow can be as much as 25 years.
Chickens are debeaked, if they're not male; the male chicks are ground up because they're useless 2 the industry. A laying hen goes through a life of pain before she's slaughtered 4 cat food—@ 2 or 3 years, she's 2 old and tough 4 human consumption.
Still, quitting meat is an important first step, and it's important even if u never stop eating eggs and cheese. Try a veggie burger; there are some good ones out there, and if they don't make u forget about meat, you may like it as well as meat.
Look mon. Meat is not a bad thing. How it is distributed is. Don`t deprive yourself. Buy organic meat when you feel you need it. Your body will tell you when you need it. Usually the cravings. You are human and that`s what you do. Save endangered animals. Not purposful animals with no end in the near future.
Yes PETA, real smart. Interview a black person, in front of a black background with inappropriate lighting. As to demonplant's comment, drop the meat replacement stuff and try to experiment with some real vegan food, the "Mc Donalds" feeling of not having had any food will go away once you've figured out what you like. If you really, really love meat and must have it, eat yourself, that takes care of the problem.
I am a meat eater. I love meat. Also, non-meat products go right through my system and I get hungry again in like 10 minutes.
That being said - I try to eat free range as much as I can, and buy most of my meat organic to avoid growth hormones and the like. I also love Michael Franti, and it doesn't really surprise me he is vegan.
But vegetarians do make it annoying to plan meals for outdoor programs trips. :-P
I have to agree with wilderpa about disagreeing without disrespecting but that works for both sides. Anger about veganism and other issues just polarizes people. I wish we could have an intelligent discussion of the issues without insult.
you're a damn fool. is that the best you could come up with? and this nonsense you decided to post isn't even original. you do such justice for the deathatarians you ostensibly represent. and to redirect the focus, "go vegan and nobody get hurt," as ida suggest and that is to include the feelings of folks with immature attempts at targeting the organization as a means of avoiding the truth in the message.
Listen again: He says that he does not make a distinction between humans and animals, that he's a "person for the ethical treatment of life." And even if he did mention PETA who are any of us to judge anyone for his/her beliefs as long as they're speaking them with truth, compassion, and conviction. You may disagree, but you shouldn't disrespect.
