I have an artillery contract, lat moving to 03 if it's possible, but it doesn't mean that 03's are the only ones taking heat. My recruiter is 0311, another recruiter I know is 04 something, logistics, and has been in more battles than my recruiter. He was on a M240B his whole deployment. Go figure...

@sh4rpsh0t33 It is not in the contract, it is in Federal Law. During my career I only know of 2 instances where this has happened. Aside from the needs of the serives, here is how this can happen. The MOS you contracted for requires a security clearance you can not obtain, your reserve unit is realigned and your function is no longer at that location, there are others but I think you can see how this can happen. I would not sweat it as this happens rarely.
@sh4rpsh0t33 If you want to fight than you need to just hold out till infantry is open. I am a little shocked that 0300s are full. That was always open when I was in. You may have a better shot at getting in to infantry if you go FAST first. I loved FAST, its a 5 year contract but you are in FAST for 2 years and you finish out in the infantry. You get great training, and usually become a team leader as soon as you hit the fleet.

I was thinking of going Motor T to become a trucker. However, I really hope I won't run into anybody like these guys. I'd hate working on desks or being stuck in a fob forever. I'm seriously considering infantry lately though, because they seem more motivated and hardworking. My question is, is Motor T filled with lazy guys that are in this video?

There are still alot of combat MOS out there other than regular grunt, I was a tracker and we were on the ground just as often as we were in our tracks, combat patrols twice dailey, depending on what you want to do, there are a lot of combat jobs open for you. Do some research, because a lot of these jobs are things that civillians never heard of. Of course I'm a little biased towards the aav community, but I'm sure you can find an MOS that's right for you.
That is of course untill you've been in the fleet a little while and find yourself wondering just what in the blue fuck you were thinking when you signed on the dotted line.

I was a squad leader at 21 and a corporal. Grunts are the way to go if you want to hate your life most of the time. Trust me though man it's worth. There is no reason to the Marines unless your going infantry or possibly tanks or engineers. Tankers are cool duded and the engineers build you stuff if you take them out with you from time to time. I'm out and loving it, but there are times when I miss the job and my friends.

The gun rocks didn't do much after the invasion. Although they did make my job easier on the March Up to Baghdad.......we actually trained them on how to patrol so they could do some SASO ops. Artillery would be cool if you went to Afghanistan, but in Iraq they didn't do much.
There's logistics in the Corps? I always thought it was outsourced to India and that's why our re-supply was always screwed up and the LOG runs were never on time. I'm just razzing you man. I know you all have a purpose and that's to support the 03's.
I'm sure the recruiters are bullshitting you when they say there are no infantry slots open. They tried that with me too, I told them I wasn't going to join unless I got the MOS I wanted and sure enough a slot suddenly opened up. They are probably trying to steer people into jobs that are harder to fill. I would choose a mos that will give you a job skill when you get out. Maybe transportation, mechanic, or some type of administrative job.

I didn't even know this shit went on in the Marine corps until my grunt buddies and I were assigned to a motor t unit in iraq to provide them with security. Well I guess thats the reality of it. On the flight home from my third iraq deployment an admin. Marine leaned over an asked why grunt's were so pissed off all the time. All I could do was laugh, shake my head and respond... you wouldn't understand.

There are still alot of combat MOS out there other than regular grunt, I was a tracker and we were on the ground just as often as we were in our tracks, combat patrols twice dailey, depending on what you want to do, there are a lot of combat jobs open for you. Do some research, because a lot of these jobs are things that civillians never heard of. Of course I'm a little biased towards the aav community, but I'm sure you can find an MOS that's right for you.

then wait. don't be a pog faggot. if you join the marines, you'll get even shittier pay than the army, your training will be pretty bad and you won't advance quickly. i'm infantry in the army at 23 and already an e-6 staff sergeant squad leader. been to iraq twice about to go to afghanistan. trust me, if you want to advance in your military career, the army infasntry is the best position as long as you're squared away. marines don't have any schools like airborne either

I was a squad leader at 21 and a corporal. Grunts are the way to go if you want to hate your life most of the time. Trust me though man it's worth. There is no reason to the Marines unless your going infantry or possibly tanks or engineers. Tankers are cool duded and the engineers build you stuff if you take them out with you from time to time. I'm out and loving it, but there are times when I miss the job and my friends.

The gun rocks didn't do much after the invasion. Although they did make my job easier on the March Up to Baghdad.......we actually trained them on how to patrol so they could do some SASO ops. Artillery would be cool if you went to Afghanistan, but in Iraq they didn't do much.

I'm sure the recruiters are bullshitting you when they say there are no infantry slots open. They tried that with me too, I told them I wasn't going to join unless I got the MOS I wanted and sure enough a slot suddenly opened up. The infantry looks cool on TV but it sucks in real life, if I had to go back in the army I would definitely be a POG.

They are probably trying to steer people into jobs that are harder to fill. I would choose a mos that will give you a job skill when you get out. Maybe transportation, mechanic, or some type of administrative job.

My MOS is 0651 Tactical Data Network Specialist, My job pretty much parallels what IT guys do in the civilian world and I have been able to get several certifications from Cisco and Microsoft while in this MOS. Sure, POG life can get boring but there are a lot more job openings in IT in the civilian world than there are for Machine Gunners or Mortarmen.
