  • I recently did the front pads and rotors on my 1995 c280 with aftermarket parts and applied the antisqueal but now the pads rattle whenever i go over bumps in the road. However if I apply the brakes when going over the bumps I do not get any rattle. Thoughts? Cheap pads? Did I over compress the caliper pistons? I am really stumped?

  • @benz9452 Hello, if you still have the old brake pads check and compare it with the new pads for the dimension of the metal backing. A smaller than required brake pad metal backing can cause it to rattle.

  • Wish I was :) Nope, it is all business and music was added on later.

  • Are you listening to that music in the shop? just saying.

  • Great video, I'm planning to do this to my 99 C230, is it the same process for that car? with two retaining pins and only a locking bolt for the rotor?

  • thank you

  • @latex4bomb Our pleasure. Keep an eye out for more videos from us.

  • hi Matt, can yoiu give some help or any link that i can look at to replace rea brake pad and also thermalstat on c280 2007 4matic. thanks

  • i have a 2002 c230 kompressor coupe, after i removed (flipped) the rear seat to reach to where i should adjust the tension of the emergency brake cable, under the seat i found a black thin cover that i have to remove before reaching there. it is tricky to remove this cover , how can i remove it without damaging or hurting its appearance.

  • Hello, as long as you do not open any hydraulic brake lines you do not have to pump the brake system to purge air. Just install the brake pads and pump the brake pedal to make the brake pads set before driving..

  • I have a 2002 C230 Kompressor coupe. When you change the brakes , do we have to pump the brake system? Or we just take out the old pads, then replace it with new one. Without pumping the brake? Please help. Thxs! :)

  • 97 c230 rear brake job question: the caliper only has one pin securing the brake pads. When removing the pin, it seems you must remove the brake fluid line as well because the brake fluid line inhibits the pin from coming all the way out. What am I overlooking? Is there another way to remove the pin without removing the brake line?

  • wat tool did u use to spread the pads?

  • Not good to hang the caliper on the brake line. They are brittle on older cars and can break.

  • 14 year ASE certified ;)

  • i have a 1995 s500 my brake lights work perfect when head lights are turned off!

when i turn my head lights on my brake light stay light like im stepping on the brake? please help!!

  • @lmaynesr Likely a melted circuit board at the taillight housing, we could know in less than 5 minutes if the car could come in. You may also remove the tail light assembly and inspect the circuit board and replace if necessory.

  • This is very clear and to the point. Also help full for Cadillac Catera brakes. I wish i had those tools, the right tool makes the job easier.

  • this is such a great video. okay, i have the factory tools from mercedes that came with the vehicle. what do i need to purchase (exactly) to take off the locking screw? thanks for any replies!

  • Hello, thanks for sharing that valuable information.

  • The incorporation of parking brake shoes within the rear rotor is also used on Japanese cars. My Camry has a similar setup on it's rear brakes.

  • please call 5416882227 to get additional information about your car

  • if my 1995 mercedez S500 has trouble running on reverse what does this mean and how much can it cost , it drives forward with no problem has bout 140k

  • @newmanto03 We will diagnose this as possible shifting mecanism engaging problem and work our way up till we find the source of the problem. May have to drop the transmission pan off to inspect inside for linkage functions. A 2 hour diagnostic time is all it will take. Our shop rate is 82.50 an hour.

  • hanging caliper of flexi line .....master tech????? a no no definately

  • I hope your not hanging the rear brakes by the brake lines

  • @chrisfball12 The caliper IS hanging by the brake line. We admit, A professional no-no. fortunately the rear calipers on the MB 300TE are very small and not heavy enough to cause any stress or damage to the brake lines. Though we do advise that anyone doing their own brake repairs should hang brake calipers using elastic cords (bungee cords work well) or some wire and tie them up, should the calipers need be removed. thank you for your comments!

  • My Mercedes 1989 300E with 255,550mi will need a new front flex disc not a hard task just lift the car so all 4 tires are in the air. remove the 6 bolts holding the flex disc in. It's import the rear of the car is lifted this will allow you to spin the drive shalf to access all 6 bolts/6 nuts to remove the flex joint. Remove the old and in with the new install the 6 band new bolts tighten to spec. Safely lower the car. :)

  • Please tell me you didn't leave the caliper hanging from the brake line???

  • @sbakar. The caliper IS hanging by the brake line. • @Autobahn866 Now my Benz w124 1989 300E is at 256,593mi at the moment it's all about doing your oil changes regularly. Thanks for your uploads.

  • do I need to worry about brake fluid spilling out of the master cylinder when I back off the caliper pistons? Also, do I need any Loctite on the brake caliper bolts? Also, what are the torque specifications on the brake caliper bolts? Thanks a lot. This was very helpful

  • @pettifogger20850 . Hello, I suggest keeping on eye on the master cylinder for brake fluid spill. You may take some old dirty brake fluid out of reservoir as we did. Another solution is to open the bleeder at the brake caliper themselves. It is a great idea to use loctite when reinstalling the brake caliper. The torque spec for rear caliper is 37 ft.lb. Glad to be of help. Thanks for watching.

  • how bout shocks?

  • @guugeesjc Hello, Our plan is to publish several videos that will address many mercedes repair, service and maintenance issues. Stay in touch, subscribe for the latest video news from us.

  • Good vid,

but you skipped the part on how to compress the caliper pistons back in, to provide room for the new pads. ;)

  • @viggoM35 Hello, I think we have that information at 1min and 30th second of the video. I suggest watching it again.

  • where those Meyle brake pads prey tell

  • @mybnz190 Hello, The brake rotor is Meyle and the brake pad set is OEM factory. The Brake pad part number is D525T and the brand is TEXTAR. By the way good news is it is not squealing like most other brake pads do.

  • Nice video! very informative, good camera angles, and well-explained by the tech.
