@d0ugz24 the M5 is a different car on it's own. it is the "super car" of the 5 series. BMW's 5 series includes the 528, 535(as seen in the video), the 550i, and then the m5. On the 528, 535, and 550i you can buy the car with the "m-sport package". this package adds things to the car to make it look and perform a bit more sportier. the M5 however is just its own car, and one hell of a car if i could add:) hope that helps

ok i really dont think this is the pure M5. because even though BMW is being girls now and going with a 4.4 liter V8 instead of a V10, it still doesnt have the M style sound or the quad exhaust system. i think it might just be like a M appearence package, like what Mercedes Benz does. i dont think its a pure M5

@ramale97 It is M sport package, for those people that order new BMW's they have the option of getting this package, Basically you get the same car with BMW M// trim kit, steering wheel of an M// car, the exterior of an M car and other a few touches of M// cars. Horsepower and engine is the same. Kinda like getting F sport package for Lexus. This car only has 300hp and 300lb torque.

Its just that as a bmw owner for a decade, its hard to leave these cars for anything else. Personally I will pay more for a bmw even if a infiniti costs less and has more to offer. Stupid, yes, but I am just one of those buyers who love these cars for their heritage.

this car doesnt have head up display... i hope you are not a bmw salesman, hud is projection on the front window... and the white with beige makes it a womans car... also i would take the ceramic details , doesnt look as cheap as the fake metal look... also this car needs 20 inch rims to make it look realy good (seen it in person) and the m sport suspension, it lowers the car , looks much better + 335d is a must, more torque makes it feel the engine doenst have to try hard... etc...

I agree, the actual MSRP was 67,000 with the average state taxes pushing the out of door price to about 72,000. But BMW offered me a 2700.00 rebate and a 1,000.00 loyalty discount for already owning a 2005 or newer BMW. Also in the great state of Texas you only pay taxes on the difference of your trade in so after trading in my range rover sport, the difference in price of the vehicles was only 10,000. In regards to the 535i engine, the in-line Turbo 6 with 300HP is all you need. You can drop some additional cash on the V8 with 400HP, but for the money, the 300HP in-line 6 is the ultimate way to go. No power lagging issues with this car at all. In addition to that, I average about 33+ on the highway with the cruise set at 80! Normal day to day driving (real world) is going to return more around 28-30 depending on how you drive.

@sbrennan007 I am impressed with the fuel consumption because I have been asking on some of the bmw forums/websites about it. I myself drive a 2003 e39 530i and I do about upper 20's mpg in the city and get about 28 mpg on the highway. I do not drive harsh. I have used the a/c and cruise control on our trip to new york from north carolina and despite that I still managed 28 mpg. Therefore I am impressed with the new 5 series.

@auaq I have a 2011 X5 with the same engine, and a week after we bought it, we drove over 800 Miles to go to a wedding. We averaged right at about 30 MPG with a highway speed of 75-80 MPH. I think the X5 is a little heavier than the 5 Series and isn't as low to the ground 'sleek' as the 535i is, thus the difference in mileage.

The X5 with the same 300HP in-line 6 returns a consistent 23/24 MPG at each fill up. Once this engine is broken in, it really wakes up and you can feel the difference.

Despite the detrimental it still amazes me to see 30+ mpg's on highways. It's like this is the zone for the 4-cylinder engines and not for 6-cylinder ones.
