My Father dedicated this song too me, he's spent a good time in prison and doesn't want me to end up the same... although i've fought when i need too.. and i respect my father for dedicating it to me as he now has C.O.P.D and none of us know how long he has left :'(

@Henrydec I think the meaning of the song is even deeper than that. Tommy would probably be okay with being killed by the Gatlin boys to still honor his father, but what "crosses the line" is when a woman's honor on the line. When that happens, all bets are off, as they should be. In other words, "Strike me, not a problem, the cheek turns. Strike my girl, and blood will spill." This is how it should be, it should be the code of every man.
