@TheHybridSway Thank god someone else notices that Toby was the best, he was the key composer and lyric writer, he's gone from this great band, to managing The Hoosiers, such a shame....
This video is awsome :D Why o' why did have to happen to jay kay to get a materialist and start wrighting lyrics bout' fast cars and disco booty instead of things that matters and can change the world... o whell... i still like the funk to the music they make... :D
It's possible he really likes them and Adidas send him new clothes for free as he will help advertise them as he's one cool cat. Remember the Adidas zipper's he always used to wear-i went out and bought one as soon as I say Jay wearing them.
@pifou61 That song (get the funk out) was TERRIBLE!! Yeah, Nuno can shred the frets, but a guitar solo to me is about more than just cramming as many notes as you can into a monotonal bassline. A great guitar solo over a mediocre cookie cutter blues riff (or what you refer to as "funk") is just boring. I guess what I'm trying to say is a great solo in any music needs a great song to back it up and Extreme just flat out sucks.
I don't dislike Jamiroquai now though, I like their newer albums too. They're different to Emergency..., Space Cowboy, Travelling.., but RDLS seems like an okay album, and I thoroughly enjoyed the three in between too.
Honestly, I don't see how you can say that. People change over time, and if you listen to their albums, that's exactly what happened. They gradually evolved. They got interesting. Don't be a stupid purist.
this guy was saying we had an emergency in 1993, and now its 2010. any update on the current situation? *THIS IS HOUSTON, WE ARE EXPERIENCING A PERPETUAL SHIT STORM* damnit.
Early RHCP had a lot of funk vibes and they took a lot of their inspiration from early funk bands like funkadelic and sly and the family stone. So did JayKay and it showed in early jamiroquai with a lot of their funk songs. Both bands also have funk inspired bassists (Flea and Zender). The only difference in the early times of the band were that one was more jazz/acid jazz and one was more rock/punk.
What's ironic is that songs like Emergency on Planet Earth and Virtual Insanity warn of technology ruining the world, and Jamiroquai's new albums are mostly techno crap, and getting worse...
Its great to hear someone someone with such a great voice sing for once. Fuck all this auto-tune BS, Jay Kay can sing with his own voice. Hopefully their new album in September goes back to the style of their first album.
@BobbyLght I only just began listening to Jamiroquai's music today, but I wondered why Jay Kay didn't sing more himself in Feels Just Like it Should....

Funny..a friend bought me J's first album when it was released and I listened but kind of dismissed it. Then about 6 months later I put it on and couldn't imagine what I'd been thinkin. I was blown away and became a huge fan. Saw him in the early days before virtual Insanity and later. In fact the first time I heard 'Virt. Insanity' album I was in the Tokyo Airport food court and a counter girl was playing it on her boom box. I was so excited that it became my travel CD across Asia
you know its funny, this is from 1993, as well as the other two songs too young to die and when you gonna learn, and jay kay is barkin on about the earth bein in trouble, global warming etc. which has only bin portrayed so deeply in media, tv, music etc. in past 6-7 years.... this was made SEVENTEEN years ago, and the music comapny told him to stop making songs like this cauze these views dont sell records, and now look at it..... it really does make me laugh, jay kay your an epic man!

It beautiful jazz! Have you ever heard of jazz house compositions Valerio Minicillo? The First, Crazy Funky, wow! There is a wonderful video, which is LA MAGIA DEL SAX !
You can tell global warming has been going on since then. Jay is wearing that giant, furry hat, which obviously means that it was freezing cold everywhere on Earth then.
The sophistication of Jamiroquai's music is at least equalled by Chic and the music they made and played for Sister Sledge, Diana Ross etc. Amazing bass, guitar, strings... JK is a big fan of Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards.
James Brown The Ohio Players Parliament-Funkadelic Earth, Wind, & Fire The Jackson 5 The Commodores Bootsy Collins The S.O.S. Band Sly and the Family Stone Prince KC and the Sunshine Band The Commodores
Yeah thats a good list. I'd add Kool & the Gang and Red Hot Chili Peppers. I'm so glad that you mentioned Prince. He's my absolute favorite artist of all time!
RHCP was amazingly funky back in the day. On par w/ JMQ. RHCP mellowed (and some may say "sold") out over time, but they still create some gems here and there. Still, Jay & co. are my all-time favorite funksters. :-)
@SexyFatKid Aw, RHCP are great in their own right. I've loved them since the 80s, before JMQ even formed. The original funky white boys - they rock, and Flea kicks ass. But JK's vocals are just a wee bit better. ;-)
@SexyFatKid I think they're both fantastic bands, with two (at least, originally) of the best bassists ever. Funky music, truly talented instrumentalists, and fantastic bands. I think they do have a lot in common.
@SexyFatKid RHCP used to be funky!! flea is one of the best bass player in the world and john frusciante is the best guitarist from the last 30 years!! even they are less funky but they're great and they have good songs (tell me baby, funky monks, taste the pain, give it away etc)
@lissa948100 John Frusciante is the best guitar player in the past 30 years hahaha!!! what a joke.... If you RHCP you probably know that this band had a lot of turnover over the years, so he's been in and out.... and being a guitar player myself I can tell you he's an ok player - but don't rank him number one.... What about Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Paul Gilbert, Ron Thal, Dime? ....The list is endless....
@pifou61 a famous guitar magazine said that john frusciante is the best guitarist of the last 30 years your angus young isn't in this list end of the story...
@pifou61 i'm a bass player and i think that they're right, but i respect your choice but for me John Frusciante is the best guitar player watch the video : John Frusciante guitar god or john frusciante guitar player ... if you want of course ^
@lissa948100 I am not so impressed by these solos they are mainly always the same notes, thousands and thousands of guys are technically superior than him but he plays with the gut I must admit. But really I am sorry talking about playing with guts, listen to a Dimebag solo or Nuno Bettencourt... Btw, type guitar wars get the funk out, then you will see a real solo and some bad ass funk
@lissa948100 and yes I like RHCP, I used to love em at the time of blood sugar sex magik but I kinda gave up after red hot minute... I understand why you like these solos, but you can't forget that the bass line behind is devilish and that helps a lot. Flea had always been the main pillar of the band.. Without him, a John Frusciante solo is kinda pitiful.
@pifou61 hahahahaha, BOTH you and lissa# are wrong, there IS an absolute truth, and its in the MIND of a man, not just in his fingers, bow to FRANK ZAPPA, best musician/composer of all times. BTW, the first 3 records of Jamiroquai are AMAZING, like other bands that were mentioned, RHCP, Funkadelic, Parliament, Funky Meters, and a lot more. All awesome, and different/original.
Everyone talks about their music (funky, etc), but lyrics are great also. Even in most pop-ish songs. Fresh, intelligent, funny, light... poetry of the first sort.
Quite frankly, the best song of the entire bands history!! I don't like Jamiroquai latest album but i have my fingers crossed for their 7th album which according to them will sound more like their first and second album....
I love the old school Jamiroquai. But now it's really good too. We have to admit that JK is older now, and the gigs will be different now. But there are great musicians : Matt Johnson is really jazzy, the chorus are sweet, Rob Harris is funky, and Paul Turner have a good slap bass (even if not the one-of-a-kind Stuart Zender style). Maybe Dynamite is a little bit weaker than other albums, but it was the end of Sony, the band was tired. Now it will be great you'll see ^^.

Great Great track !
