I had this game way back when, it looks so awful now lol. So many lame knock off characters too like the Raiden guy who shocks guys in the junk. I remember when I saw the movie this was based on and being so disappointed that the movie and game had nothing in common at all.

I remember playing a demo of this game from a magazine CD released in the summer. I think it was from a PC Gamer disc. The demo was so awfully unplayable it's a wonder why Microforum released the demo other than to show off the amount of violence a PC game can get away with (this was before MK2 arrived on the SNES uncensored). People complain about bad free Flash games on a web page, this was one of the early "Made with Macromedia" games that you had to pay for.

Being set in a virtual world is mostly an excuse for poorly digitised characters and horrible backgrounds, but taking its cue from Mortal Kombat, Expect No Mercy also features gruesome finishing movies and three entirely unrelated characters distinguished only by different coloured hats. Best of all - and when I say "best" I mean "worst", obviously - is that, due to crippling bugs, it's actually difficult to even get the characters close enough to hit one another.
