where are the vents? by the minute mark 6:10 he is doing a slope ceiling as far as i know you are supposed to do a tuck at the top plate of the wall and install vents on slope ceilings, thats code, so by the way that brand of insulation is very itchy, good luck with that install
Fibreglass is not great in respect of convected curents and R values drop off when exposed to low temperatures ..... Sprayfoam would seem to to be the way to go in this attic
Really? Check the instructions on the batt. The tab is supposed to be stapled to the joist or stud face NOT the side. When youshorten the depth of the insulation it lowers the R Value. If 3.5 inches is R-13 the wall is 3.5 inches & you staple to the side of stud you loose a 1/2" or more inches. So what is the R-value then?
@txmarman38 Not this type of batt. Some types use no staples at all, they are 1/2-or so- oversized and are made to fit tight and still have proper R. Those types always use poly as a vapobar.
You are right in pointing out to always check instructions. Certainteed (Menard's sells it) as far as what I've bought is supposed to be installed as shown.
Ecobatt makes a good one without a kraft face and needs no wire to keep in place. It's so soft when it's new.
it seems to me the idea is to just stuff the foam in between the pieces of wood

@malachy1847 or even blown in. Fiberglass is the worst. Unless it's installed extremely carefully the cold air just goes right around a batt.
