@Jonsgirl4everr - Hi, thanks for watching! First, I would re-write the equation y-x=4 into slope-int. form. So, we have to move the "x" to the other side by canceling it out (doing the opposite): y-x+x = 4+x -> y = x+4. Now you have two equations with a slope of 1/1 and y-intercepts of +2 and +4. Then I would graph them like I demonstrated above.
I hope that helps. It is harder to write out an explanation. =)
Thank you very much for this, let me tell you, I was lost until I stumbled upon your post.....You are the best I have seen so far on this subject......you actually anticipated every question we would have and manage to include them in your illustration....Thanks again......
Do you know what I love about YouTube? In real life you can't rewind something you misunderstood, but with YouTube you can watch it over and over again until it is lodged in your brain. Thanks so much.
You are right; two points is enough. I just wanted my students to put at least 3 to practice graphing the slope a little more. Thank you for watching! =)
You are the best! My teacher who has been teaching for 45 years could not make it this simple, she confused me half way and i gave up. I understood the entire process after the first example. Thank you I love you!!!! please keep posting more math vids........
You are so explicit. I won't say, 'you are grrrreat', just because YOU ARE. So, I will jus' say, 'You Are Par-Excellence'. No BIG HEAD for you that way.
I hope to see/find more of your videos very soon. I love your simplicity.
Why did all those mathematicians give simple math terms such complicated names? For instance, when you started to talk about y intercept, I was thinking, "Oh no, more complicated stuff." BUT... it was so simple!
Thank you for saving my math lesson.
:) I hope to see more videos! I've watched them all!

Yep! The variable b stands for the place on the y-axis that the line crosses, so writing it as a point (0,4) is correct.

Is it corect to write b as a point for example
(0,4)
