  • this is great dude, my friend and i are doing this too we got it all but are still trying to figure out how gps works.. how did u do it and where can we look for gps stuff?

  • @monodistereo

    Thank you!

For the gps I decided to use SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger. The spot gps communicates to satellites which then transmit the position online to your spot account. This means when we are out chasing the balloon/payload I usually have someone with internet connection on their phone or call up someone at home. Since spot gps uses only satellites to communicate, and not cell phone towers like other devices, you can track the balloon and payload in remote areas.

  • @WilschkeHD hey!, sooo, this morning we let our balloon go.. and an hour and half later.. the gps tells us it was over 200 miles away.. which sounds ridiculous cause there was no wind at all when we launched and the payload went straight up. we are very confused and have to go for a 7 hour drive to try to find it. any thoughts or comments on this? its crazy.. it means the ballooned traveled over 200 miles an hour.

  • it sounds like it's flying hahah, that was a sick view at the top

  • 2:56 is at apogee, must see!
