@divinesalvia sounds so awesome dude. this is my first ibanez, and what i really like is the body. the shape of it allows you to wrap your thumb around the top and thump along with your fingers, but I normally use a pick so that doesn't matter as much, but the curve on the bottom near the neck is my favorite because you can very easily get to the high notes without ANY body getting in the way, which is nice because there's two extra frets compared to my old bass. Overall, I'm satisfied.
@bobbygeisler yeah...i was supposed to buy me a SR700 but i came over a SR900 with neckthrough at a web shop.Actually it was the last sr900 in Norway.one of the best Basses i have played on(and own),and a sound that words cant explain..
i have had this bass for about 3 years know and the amount of lows and highs you can get out of this thing is amazing i have been able to every sound i have ever wanted from and the amazing treble of a classic p bass to the unbelievable lows of an ernie ball music man and everything in between it has a lot of warmth but it can bite when you need it to
Forreal, first off... the guy has no groove. I mean, what's a bass for???
I've heard great pick players, but this guy just makes the bass sound scared.
The amp must be horrible for that bass. I expected waaay more power. I understand it's a video, but still. And the little "scales" he's using are sooo limited.
Bottom line, sounds and looks boring and harmless... In a musical sense that is.
I have one of these basses myself, its probably one of the most comfortable basses ive tried. only problem is that i can never find a tone i find comfortable :l.. probably just my lame ass amp bwaha
iot really all depends on what sound you want......for rock: pick......jazz: finger.....funk: finger...and then slap for the rhcp and the stanley stuff....
@Smoothbassistthatsme It can shame to hear good basses played with a pick. To each their own and all, but you lose so much with a pick. To name a few issues of using picks:
1) Loss of good dynamics
2) Loss of tonal variety
3) Difficult to arpeggiate
4) Few ways to stop sound or dampen sympathetic vibration
I understand that it can be difficult to learn, but a truly independent right hand (or left if you are a lefty) is way, way worth it.
@Smoothbassistthatsme It'a review for the public, not a band/personal bass player demo, when you do a job you do it for a certain client not for yourself. You grow up ;)
@Oswah Hey man, although most people think that bass shouldnt be played with a pick, its a perfectly acceptable way to play. Ive been playing bass for about 3 years, i can do fingerstyle, slapstyle, and pickstyle. Using a pick isnt wrong, its just a good way to give your bass a different kind of tone which is more "sharp". pickstyle bass is often used in metal and hard rock so the bass is more forward in the mix. so pickstyle isnt wrong, its all about tonal preferences. I hope that helps!
please i need some advice wich is better an sr 700 or an sr 750 the 750 has a wallnut top i dont really think it makes a big difference but could anyone pls tell me your opinion thanks
I don't think the sound is much changed, or the weight probably, but I prefer the look of the walnut to the 700, especially the yellow one, but the red one isn't bad. Have you checked out the 780? It's a bit weird, but you get used to it and when you do it's pretty cool. Unfortunately I have only tried the bass this guy has in a store once and only for like 30 seconds so I still don't know much about it.
i have the same bass in the same finish and its the best bass ive owned so far. i have owned an american precision bass, american jazz bass, musicman stingray, and various yamahas, this bass by far is more versatile and way more comfortable to play. this demo doesnt do it justice but the ibanez sr700 is da shiznit
any ibanez bass is "da shiznit". i've played on the gsr190 and on sr 750 and they're both freakin awesome cool whatafuck i mean the coolest damn. my advice for some one who wants to buy a bass is buy an ibanez. it fits any style and the sound is so customyzeble.
Rule #1...Bass players review basses, period, end of story. The pick only review is completely limited. Not that pick playing isn't valid, but so is finger style! Geeze! Also, it's not a Bubinga neck, it's a Jotoba neck with Bubinga stringers. I own this bass. It's a great instrument for the price point.
This guy should ... leave. I wanna hear a bass player play this beauty. Slap it, pluck it, finger it, tap it just DROP THE PICK YOU PRICK! So much unused potential... this is a great bass don't mind this guy's playing he's a dork!
@tinyjewness My personal idol was a pick player actually, Marcel Jacob. The thing here, is that I don't think the reviewer is holding the pick in the right way, his holding it diagonally toward the string and that gives a raspy dirty and noisy sound. His fretting isn't too good also, thats why notes are not clear and have some buzz. You can play as you want of course, but when it comes to a review, the instrument MUST BE PLAYED in the academic way, to hear the inst. more than the player.
Thanks for the review, very informative but with respect very limited - specifically to the distinctive sound of pick playing. Fingerstyle sounds vastly different over the typical tonal range than a pick, but none of that is touched.

It sounds completely different and I play with fingers most of the time so I want to know how the Bass sounds like when he´s played with fingers.
But I love this Bass!

@saraband0 Not too much to be honest. Just more warmer since the SR700 has a maple top and the SR500 is just the pure body wood tone.

I had a Soundgear Prestige 4-String and i didn`t like it at all.
Too hifi sounding and it didn`t cut through the mix.
IMO even a descent Cort beats it soundwise.
As for the first bass, i would go with a Fender, Music Man, Spector, Warwick, Cort or Yamaha BB series (not the RBs).
All this basses have a trademark sound and slap like gods, if you`re into slapping.
