... but this tour is too hard - 3 concerts in row in the different cities - tomorrow these romances will be heard by Petersburg's audience, the next is Berlin.
2:00 (Elena) Who else would do a better job of bringing all this music to the people that have no idea about it? There are very few people like that in Russia - way less than before, and I think this music is not known at all in the Western world. That's why we need a person with such a music world's reputation as Anya.
Narrator: all a sudden - during the rehearsal the hall entered a group of Chinese people - vice-president's wife was visiting the conservatory that day - at that moment Anna happened to sing a romance by "KR" (The Great prince Konstantin Romanov) - so it turned that Anna greeted the honored guest by that song.
1.27 (Narrator): It is a collective project of Anna and Daniel Barenboim (the famous conductor - peace fighter that trying to create peace between enemies with the help of music). His wife Elena Bashkirova is at the piano.
1:37 (Elena): Sometimes when I'm playing I'm keeping forgetting to play: she is singing so beautiful - it's like - ahh.... where am I?
The voice is just takes off upwards and the singer is ready to fly with it - she enjoys so much what she sings, the lyrics and music are so amazing.
1:13 (Anna): I asked to translate each romance, each song literally, precisely (not the way they do it sometimes - the simplified translation feels kinda cheap). I asked: please create a poetry!
0:22 - "you can give up a lot for this voice" - judging by the tickets prices - up to 30K (rubles as I guess :) ) and it is "just" for a concert with Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov only romances. "Summer night Dream" by Apollon Maykov - one of the trio of "The Pure Art" team (his fellow colleagues were Polonsky and Fet). Anna has chosen for this concert some well known to the Moscow audience songs , but not necessarily the known ones.
One of my on line friends asked to translate this video for her, but I believe lots of you will be glad to read it.
Translation part 1:
The narrator: Anna Netrebko has performed a solo concert in Moscow. The world class opera star lives in Vienna and visits her motherland very seldom, but with this new program she couldn't help coming to Russia - it presents Russian romances. Our correspondent has visited the concert in the Moscow conservatory of music and met Anna before the performance.
