@ninjajesus81 Good question: simple answer, the storyline was basically before Invasion, Vince got Stone Cold the title belt at a PPV, and he "sold his soul" according to JR. What followed was torment of JR and destroying other wrestlers and stuff, then Invasion happened and they kept him heel to be the "leader" of the Alliance.

No matter what stone cold had the loudest pops ever. Either he was cheered really loud or booed. Either way he worked that crowd, he cut great promos, his music was epic. He was the attitude era. My opinion the greatest of all time.

@KnightFangD he was for most of 2001 due to 2 man power trip and invasion storyline but in the middle he did have a face turn and held the title twice in 01 but still this is a good reaction even as a heel, its the same with the undertaker when he was heel during the attitude era before he left and return in 99/00

I am surprised some cameraman didn't get fired after this. During Austin's heel run they usually used to keep the cameras away from the crowd during his entrance, unless the crowd was actually booing, because they didn't want to show the cheers he was getting. They even resorted to using canned heat a few times. But here the cameras roll to the crowd when Austin enters, like they did when was a super-over face. It's as if the camera guys too loved the reaction and forgot their kayfabe roles..
