I didn't judge people on their color until I was 20 y.o. when I moved to virginia.I lived in oklahoma where blacks where educated and nice. I thought they were like everyone else. I didn't notice color. Then i moved to virginia. I noticed most blacks where rude loud and inconsiderate. Oh, and racist toward whites. Blacks basically taught me how to be racist against them.
His dream has come true. Blacks are being treated based on their character. His dream was to have his daughters be treated based on their character. Blacks are treated based on their character.
We are probably as close as we'll ever get. The simple fact of life, is that there are visible and audible identifiers that mark every single one of us, and someone else is bound to find one or more of those identifiers to be either objectionable, or worthy of some type of obsession. They may even harbor a deep hatred towards them for some unfathomable reason. These are just inescapable facts of life, brought about by the complexities of human nature.
I think we're still generations away from the Doctor's dream being fulfilled. We've made progress, absolutely, but racism and bigotry still thrive, mainly in the south, but also in urban areas. Segregation is prominent, and in some cases it's self inflicted.
Dr King would be pleased with how far we've come, but he would NOT be thrilled. He'd see much more work to be done.
Nope its just like when i clean my house you sweep the dirt under the carpet ,That has effectively happened with racism today. While my dirt is hidden it is still there,Racism is the same thing its hidden from view or at least its tried to be hidden from view but it is still very much a part of life.I hope you dont think i support racism i am very much against it but that doesn't really change what i just said think about that recent KFC ad that sparked controvesy.Racism still exist wether its...
That is a dream that will only come true in the "here after". Like it or not, past experience dictate current views. Ie, if I say that I travel to Colombia all the time, which I do, people almost always mention cocaine. In the past 5 years I've spent about 120 days there, sometimes traveling by bus between towns. I have yet to see any drugs other than at the pharmacy. Mention my heritage, Mexican, they think "illigal". Mention my other heritage, Jew, they think "zionist" or "greedy".
Skin color is not the only obstacle that plagues humanity. Language, sex and what flower said, MONEY (the big one), need to be over come. 20 years ago my outlook was, equality is achievable, now I know better. Even if all the petty little shit is dealt with, color, sex, language, the size of your bank account will always separate humans. Until the monetary system is dissolved humans will never be equal!!!
Our industry has already moved to China, our service center to India. Americas future problem is that we don't make very much in this country anymore. I have seen the divide between rich and poor in India and we are on that track.
I think any response I give would annoy someone in your audience and I'd be excoriated for stating an opinion. If the previous sentence is true, the fact stated, in itself, indicates that we are not where we need to be.
I am almost 50 now. I am white. The blacks of my generation were the first in thousands of years that could vote, live where they want, and have some freedom. Only 2 full generations ago. Change takes time. Blacks are not quite sure of their place in society yet, maybe not for a few more generations. But in time, the world they live in will be different, and a better place for their childrens children. Nothing, absolutely nothing changes quickly.
depends where u are in the U.S. The more populated places are more open to race and equality where as the boonies and the less populated areas are still racist and profile people based as such...
I think we're getting there. I feel that there's always going to be people that make judgements, accusations and stereotypes, but we've come so far in terms of the way things WERE to how they ARE now. Being bi-racial I've experienced slight racism on both ends, but generally I'm well accepted among all groups. It's been great being bi-racial in an Urban setting but being a "rocker/Scenester" and it being okay..My friends like rap..I don't...yet we're there for eachother no matter what
There may be less than ten African Americans living in the town where I live. I don't think I can comment upon it due to my lack of... um, experience? I have never witnessed discrimination against people of African descent where I live.
i also have to say that equality has gone to far the other way now. youve heard this enough times but ill say it again when a black person gets hit by a white person its a racist assult but the other way around its just assult. it will never be "fixed" because you cant please everyone
For the most part, when it comes to individuals, I think yes. None I know judges people by their race and I know a few grand children of nazi generals and rednecks so I have covered some ground so to speak :P When it comes to the government that's a different story though.. It seems the government is always going to be a few years behind.
legally, we are all the same, but mentally by the individual, there are a lot of people who think differently of someone (not always in a bad way) just because of their nationality. And imo, it'll more than likely always be that way for as long as I live. There's always going to be some racist group of some sort fighting for their race saying it's better and people will follow them, but some people on the other hand couldn't give a shit if the person was of a different race.
We still have work to do. Most people still see "Black Dude" "White Dude" but the bigotry has died down, and rights have been equalized... So I'd say we're 9/10ths there.
I actually did a video asking the same question on my channel today =D Feel free to check it out.
