I live in Michigan and there are no jobs here. I work in automotive. I have for the last 11.5yrs. I was laid off 9 months in 2010. I don't know how I am working now, but I am. I see another collapse coming soon. The economy never started to recover, but it plateaued. Now it's ready to die.
Michigan is one big wasteland. It's never coming back. I save every dollar I can. I am also buying ammo and food supplies.
Oh, and the way you hold it is proper if you are on a ground to ground level with your target, but if you have to shoot from above, I find it helpful to me to place my left hand OVER my right wrist, low enough so I can still see the sights clearly, but high enough so the heel of my left hand is bracing as well as it can when aiming down a flight of stairs, a hill, or from a rooftop. You did very well for someone who has little experience with firearms, it took me months to get to where you are.
Unfortunately, a 13 rd clip for a glock 21 is like 30 bucks, while you can get 15 round mags for a colt 45 for about 15 bucks.......I do realize it is a good gun, but you better stock up on ammo before the price goes through the roof. Just don't be afraid. I spent years afraid, and all it did was weaken me and make me lose weight. Fear is what the establishment uses to keep good peaceful people in a subservient state, but "We the People" outnumber the enforcers of corporate despotism by 5K to 1.

Excellent choice in a handgun. One thing you can do is practice dry firing. Do that for a little while everyday and you will get the feel, balance, sight picture and trigger pull down for your weapon. Of course make sure it is empty. double triple check then check again cause you can't get the bullets back in the shell once you pull the trigger on it.
Buy some dummy rounds and mix it up in your mag so you can do a tactical clearance while your shooting, might pay to invest in some type of body armor as you make a lot of target, just to give you an edge not being rude sir.
Body Armor does not work if you don't have partner(s) cause you will at a min get the wind knocked out of you. Use of cover and general shooting skills is best bet. Plus it's like $2000+ for a real set.
Not a good idea for general personal defense. The type of limited quick fighting that happens for self defense is not even like sustained combat. And in a WORL situation it will be gangs. One person against a gang with some blanks in the magazine? Got Fail...
You use dummy rounds only at the range to practice clearance technique, if you keep them in the gun afterwards thats your fault you get shot, and body armor is still more of an edge than nothing. Apologise in advanced if your comment was not focused towards me.
Demcad, That is very good that you are training to actually "MOVE" when in an engaged situation. Most people cannot get it throught their thick skulls to move, and when they actually in a combat situation they are the first to get hit without cover, or concealment. GREAT VIDEO, I own a M1911A1 .45ACP, I would have bought a Glock, but I'm short on Dough.
A good idea would be to set up your target at a average male height. That way your not making yourself get used to aiming downward toward your target. Congrats on your Glock 21 DEMCAD.
dont squeeze the gun with your right hand, most the pressure should be with your support hand (left) slowly squeeze the trigger and dont anticipate the shot. focus your vision only on your sights and not your target. your target should be blurry. you should with this be able to hit that little X each time.
Very cool video...I might get a 2nd gun also.. Currently I only have a 12 guage shotgun.. How hard is it to purchase a pistol? And how hard is it to get a gun permit? I was thinking about going to a local gun show this month to check out gun selections. THANKS
Depends on your state. The Florida non-resident is most popular for people that travel. There used to be a good website that had all the nfo, packing org, but it's kaput from lawsuits.
They don't give you enough txt for stories. Anyway the reason I said immigrants cause one shot another dead and then almost ran over myself and a neighbor who came out to check. We got stuck between houses and a bunch of idiots. On phone with sheriff saying "wtf hurry up I am about to shoot someone". I didn't have to fire they thru there gun into the woods and never really saw us but came close.
I've never used factory reloads, but they sound like they would be ok. Winchester ammo is the best that's available to me in the local retail stores. I've never had a problem with any of their rounds. When I practice at the range I usually buy cheap, dirty ammo (usually not U.S. made) and I've only ever had one stovepipe with that. But, the stovepipe was towards the end of shooting about 200 rounds of some really residual crappy ammo from europe somewhere.
Let me tell ya'll a recent WORL story. There are half immigrants where I live. There was a shooting down the street at 2AM. To make it short basically myself and a female neighbor where pinned down outside my house for 2 hours with a 32 caliper keltec as my only weapon. Lucky I had that in my pocket. It took our county sheriff 2-3 hours to show up. These people threw there gun into the woods next to me. I think it was a glock. Just an interesting story. I carry bigger cal casual now after that.
Nice improvement! You are doing good for only the second time out. Search youtube for...Todd Jarrett...There are some video's of him showing proper techniques and some more advanced tactical shooting that will give you some drills to practice. I like to keep a couple of extra mags loaded with hollow points for home defense. I usually use cheap wolf metal case ammo for plinking.
Also practice drawing the weapon and firing off a few quick rounds.
great gun buy an extra clip, maybe a small pocket pistol 22magnum, take the plug out of you shot gun it will hold a few more shells. gun oil keep em clean, and lots of bullets, pratice longer shot. peace and light
I recently bought a SR9 Ruger 9mm and a Mossberg 12 gauge Persuader. I took my family to the range this past weekend and we all had a great time. I never owned a gun before, but now for some reason I think I might need one, just incase. Know what I mean?
Another gun virgin here! just bought my first gun... a S&W 40 pistol... in MA actually which was an experience in itself. Thanks for all the time you invest in your channel... Made me a believer. Next is my shotgun!!!
Another consideration about Ammo. Are magazines & speed loaders. 1000+ rounds of ammo are not gonna save you if under siege and you have to stop to reload bullets into magazines. One spare mag is simply not enough think more, a lot more.
I own a Remington 870 and a Glock 19. I am planning on getting a Glock 26 for my carry. The problem is finding ammo at a reasonable cost. I sure would like to know where all the ammo has been going for over a year now.
For home defense, get a big loud dog and a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun. If the dog don't intimidate them, just the heavy sound of the pump action on the other side of the door will.
As for moving to Flint, if you've got money for guns and precious metals, you've got money to move somewhere better. Apply for a house-sitting job for a bank in LA, Vegas, Phoenix or Florida. BTW, you typically can't transport weapons state to state. You have to pay a dealer.
If your grip feel comfortable and firm and your getting that kind of accuracy, I say don't chang a thing. The basic grip would be left thumb on right thumb but the grip you are using now seems to be working for you. Try shooting right hand only and left hand only the next time you shoot. You may want to tilt the gun inwards a little when shooting left hand only. Wow you catch on fast. Nice shooting.
Great points.....to add to them, you never know if your shooting arm could get hit - thereby necessitating knowing how to shoot with the "weak" hand. This is a good thread. :)
And no matter how good you punch holes thru paper, It's PRACTICE with a gun you're comfortable with that can save your life. Bad shit in life happens fast. I'm in law enforcement, so I know. BTW, you're doing very well in shot placement with the Glock. I use the Model 22 on drug raids. I have many others, but it's my "go to" gun when stuff could get ugly.
Reginald, quick, front, sight alignment is key in a gunfight at 10+ feet from holster. Shorter than that, you need to learn how to draw and shoot from the hip - you just DON'T have time at close distances. I believe FBI stats state MOST gunfights are within 10 feet, and speed is critical. The bad guy WILL NOT hesitate to shoot first. Nature of the "game". Sad, but true. I'm gonna try and find that video of a "pro" showing how it's done. It's a "need to know" kinda thing - for all of you.
jwudarski brings up a very good point. I f you learned how to live off the land in Alaska you wouldnt have to worry about a job, or having to come back here. Maybe you could find someone out there who could teach you?.Learn how to hunt and trap, learn how to skin a animal.
But I need a job. A real job to survive on this island and 10 bucks an hour is not going to do it. Yeah, if I go back to Flint, I will likely be killed.
yeah i use to live there got out cuz it was way to violent.and my cousin says there been alot more ever since the depression.if you do go back try to move to another safe area
i have an agressive very bad loud barking dog, best alarm system, and electro-shockers and pepper-spray, but u can never make eough safety efforts. u may have to kill a person that is in your house.
in germany its nearly impossible to qualify to buy a firearm. it has its advantages and disadvantages. But you Americans need to fight again for us helpless germans.
Practice doubling up your shots. Line up your target.."Bang Bang"..fire off two shots in succession. I also recommend that you use your non-shooting hand to cup the bottom of the butt of the gun. Keep your non-shooting hand away from that muzzle. Keep your trigger arm lose such that it forms a triangle with your shoulder. That will distribute the recoil better throughout your body instead of the recoil causing the muzzle to move upward. It improves accuracy.
Also, another thing I noticed Demcad. After firing a shot....you turned around with your gun still pointed down range and your finger on the trigger. Never do that again. Once you are finished shooting..rest your trigger finger on the side of the gun parallel to the slider and lower your weapon. THEN, turn around. Also, step our the leg opposite to your shooting arm and lean into the shot a bit using the stance I already described. I was trained by a military guy btw. This is how I shoot.
When shooting on the move do a Groucho Walk. Step on the heels of your feet and roll forward to the balls of your feet, keep your upper body facing the target, knees bent while walking to help as a shock absorber.
Remember in combat things will be stressful. Run more combat situations (i.e. get your heart rate up, do reload drills while shooting, moving to and from cover, etc.).
I was going to buy that particular model, there was a sale at turners in so california. But I legally changed my name, so it made registering difficult.
Dont be too discouraged about those arm shots lol... Just think of how it would feel to be shot in yours... As far as I am concerned any body hit is effective on most people. Especially at close range because it will burn like hell.
Another good training aid are to invest in some snap caps. Its a plastic bullet with no primer or powder that allows safe dry-firing and smooth magazine feeding. Have a buddy slip a couple in your magazine at the range and you will really become aware of your "flinch" when the hammer falls on a cap. They aren't expensive...give it a try.
one more thing...start practicing transfer from primary to secondary.,...with a sidearm there is no reason to reload shotgun...just transfer to sidearm....be safe, good luck
got a great drill for you demcad. u need a buddy but this will isolate the reason why you have some errant shots. have your buddy chamber or not chamber a round with out you looking. pull that trigger and u will see how steady u r.
grip..couldnt tell but put your left finger on the front of the trigger guard.
from holster, obviously keep finger off trigger untill target is in your sites. pull and rotate that firearm as quickly as possible towards threat..look up chris costa
ya when ppl lose jobs ppl won't be their to maintain the powerplants and that be a major mistake because after awhile they will explode and won't be safe to eat just any animal and only way to survive would be to grow ur own plants away from the deadly spots maybe i would be wrong maybe just a few ppl could maintain powerplants who knows
You need to reverse your thumb grip. Support hand should overlap primary. You have good high placement with the web of your hand though. Practice dryfiring (with empty gun). Get used to the trigger break. Also rack the slide once you dryfire(with trigger still depressed), then slowly ease up on trigger to get used to the trigger "reset".
lesson #1 keep pistol in hand for two weeks and make it become part of your hand and arm. Thus leading to an ability to point and shoot without the need to sight in during an emergency situation.
lesson #2 keep pistol in hand for two weeks, while in bed, watching tv(what is tv?lol) eating breakfast, become one.
Worked quite well for me. establishing muscle memory of pistol in hand. Same as practicing scales before I jam on guitar.
I have found personally (I have a small hand) that a Smith & Wesson M&P 9 mm. with interchangable grip is perfect. Great for small hands, but also great if you have 2 or more people in your family that would use it.
And yes, I concer with Demcad, cute really shouldnt be a factor, but if you are meaning size, the glock can be a bit much some women. Even some men with smaller hands. Demcad makes it look small but that is a big ass gun.
A shotgun = good home defense (#4 shot is ideal round). It's also so versatile due to the variety of shot it can handle (and slugs).
A handgun = ideal for collapse - can carry around easily and maneuver; and carry concealed
a good rifle (I think a .22LR is ideal for most places b/c big game may not be available for everyone and there will be huge competition for big game) but a .22LR is great for smaller animals, if it comes to that. Also ammo is cheap.
good shootin TEX! You might want to try a weaver stance and compare. The US Army has a manual on various shooting stances. They should know, right?! Research different types of cover that stops bullets, ie behind car engines, not car doors. In a shootout, thinking time is limited. You have to know what will protect you as you travel. Keep practicing and your natural aiming will get better + you'll know your handgun's abilities better.
the other issue with a glock...is the grips stink (i have a 17L) there is an after mkt company that sells a slip on rubber grip with groves for your fingers...its about 7-10 bucks from places like midway etc...this simple addition keeps your grip consistant time after time and thus will improve your shooting since random pressure changes on the grip will greatly vary the point of impact of the bullet.
try shooting golf balls...the smaller the target the more one can focus and improve skills...toss them 10 feet out and blast away..a center shot will send the ball flying and the bullet gets stuck in the ball..
animal killing sweet wow u r really demented it is wrong to enjoy killin anything to kill something is a last resort defence when nothin i mean nothin else will work not to go out and just find something to kill i really am disappointed at ppl like u
meant it in a fight or flight world crash senario.. animals are food, simple.. people got to eat, tink they would rather eat animals den eachother in a coming crisis!
o actually some ppl r crazy but i get ur point but i am a naturelist r how ever u want to put it i really care about critters and the such i would only do it to survive as well
I have no problem killing an animal for food. Being extremely poor, personally it's really about saving money. I can spend $20 for a package of meat for one meal at the store, or I can spend $20 for a tag and have around 180+ lbs of meat that can help feed my family for a few months. People harvest nearly 250,000 deer each year in my state. We have one of the highest deer populations in the nation because of money from hunters that go towards conservation and habitat restoration.
lo i won't be starving i can farm it is better to farm any ways grow crops and shit that is how it is done Ur just haven't evolved enough to understand that
My family of 4 had an gross income last year of just over $5000. I bought my little home years ago or we would probably be out on the street or living with family. We help our extended family buy and maintain some chickens, cattle, and a garden. This provides us with vegetables, eggs, cream, and meat. We also harvest wildlife, fish, and wild edibles. It's a way of life for many people over thousands of years. It's a life of balance or starvation...
That's the point I'm trying to make here whitestar is although I don't have a lot of money, were not that bad off because were not heavily dependent on the system. We have learned to make every cent count by becoming as self sufficient as possible while living within our means. And although it seems cruel to many obtaining my own food, on a personal level has saved us a lot of money. If we relied on the solely on the store it would be raman night, every night in my house.
So you are a gaming geek vegan, oh well, I could tell you your wrong but you just wouldn't get it. Try farming with just hand tools (since you are opposed to gas/industries) and see how long you survive without meat. you would not be able to produce enough to sustain your body throughout your "farming" activities, let alone enough during the winter or non producing season. God created animals under the dominion of man, to use for clothing and food. You are here because animals died!
To clarify I dont need to get the pistol purchase permit and my FFL doesnt charge its CCW holders a transfer fee. Were talking about pistols I assume. State to State transfers defiantly need to go to dealers... I dont even think in State can be done unless its face to face (shop counter). Direct was a bad choice of words, I should have said fee free... often the online price of a pistol is no deal when you add in all he shipping and transfer fees. That was my point, although poorly made.
hunt chipmunks dude, you'll be a crackshot at moving targets that are small as fuck in no time, thats how i learned with an old bolt action single shot .22 plus you learn how to be calm, silent and agile in a rugged inviroment. be one with nature
Getting better with that glock. While its good that you are trying to incorporate movement into your training, I think you should work a bit more on the fundamentals first. Work on consistency in weapon presentation, good sight alignment/sight picture, and good trigger control. Once you get those things down it becomes second nature. If you rush into training without building a good a foundation you will teach yourself bad habits that could cost you your life.
I'm not at all trying to rag on you, just offering up some suggestions that may help you out. Your grip is ok, just try to keep the weapon in line with your forearm and remember that its the first pad of your finger that should be on the trigger and not the joint. Helps to get a strait pull. get a few hundred rnds through that baby to smooth everything out and you're set. Keep up the good work man.
A note about glocks, don't use reloads. There is a small sliver of the casing that isn't supported by the barrel on glocks, so if your reload or hot load ever breaches at that point, you'll get a KABOOM and it might injure you and/or destroy the frame of the gun. So, factory ammo only.
Not in my experience... especially if you know exactly what youre buying. Plus I have a CCW so I dont need to do all the transfer BS. I can have anything sent direct to me.
I miss shooting! I'm am a rifle sharpshooter using basic F/R sight. Not good with handguns. I have this problem of not being able to keep them facing down range. Scares people for some odd reason?? LMAO! :)
thats a funny ass range...are you their only customer? its funny because you can set up targets like bottles and cans, walk in the firing lanes anytime, rapid fire, its like shooting in my backyard. the ranges around here are a little more strict on safety.
Nice shootin' Tex! : ) As always I really enjoy your vids. Regarding water, you really should check out Steripen... It is a UV light and kills all the bad stuff in water, the Adventurer comes with a solar charging case. Kills/purifies: botulism, cholera, smallpox, typhoid, e. coli salmonella, infuenzas, etc... Because you really cant carry enough water, even in a truck. Demcad, also check out the GTL22, it is a GLOCK tactical laser/light for your pistol. I have the same gun with night sights!
Guys can anyone buy a gun online without a pistol license? Could the online seller send it to your local gun shop then just pick it up from the shop no questions asked?

Jasper50 2 years ago
Great points.....to add to them, you never know if your shooting arm could get hit - thereby necessitating knowing how to shoot with the "weak" hand. This is a good thread. :)
magbigblock 2 years ago
And no matter how good you punch holes thru paper, It's PRACTICE with a gun you're comfortable with that can save your life. Bad shit in life happens fast. I'm in law enforcement, so I know. BTW, you're doing very well in shot placement with the Glock. I use the Model 22 on drug raids. I have many others, but it's my "go to" gun when stuff could get ugly.
magbigblock 2 years ago
Reginald, quick, front, sight alignment is key in a gunfight at 10+ feet from holster. Shorter than that, you need to learn how to draw and shoot from the hip - you just DON'T have time at close distances. I believe FBI stats state MOST gunfights are within 10 feet, and speed is critical. The bad guy WILL NOT hesitate to shoot first. Nature of the "game". Sad, but true. I'm gonna try and find that video of a "pro" showing how it's done. It's a "need to know" kinda thing - for all of you.

Mongodelight 2 years ago
Practice doubling up your shots. Line up your target.."Bang Bang"..fire off two shots in succession. I also recommend that you use your non-shooting hand to cup the bottom of the butt of the gun. Keep your non-shooting hand away from that muzzle. Keep your trigger arm lose such that it forms a triangle with your shoulder. That will distribute the recoil better throughout your body instead of the recoil causing the muzzle to move upward. It improves accuracy.
Rototill27 2 years ago
Also, another thing I noticed Demcad. After firing a shot....you turned around with your gun still pointed down range and your finger on the trigger. Never do that again. Once you are finished shooting..rest your trigger finger on the side of the gun parallel to the slider and lower your weapon. THEN, turn around. Also, step our the leg opposite to your shooting arm and lean into the shot a bit using the stance I already described. I was trained by a military guy btw. This is how I shoot.
Rototill27 2 years ago
When shooting on the move do a Groucho Walk. Step on the heels of your feet and roll forward to the balls of your feet, keep your upper body facing the target, knees bent while walking to help as a shock absorber.
Remember in combat things will be stressful. Run more combat situations (i.e. get your heart rate up, do reload drills while shooting, moving to and from cover, etc.).

Dont be too discouraged about those arm shots lol... Just think of how it would feel to be shot in yours... As far as I am concerned any body hit is effective on most people. Especially at close range because it will burn like hell.
lighthammer2531 2 years ago
Another good training aid are to invest in some snap caps. Its a plastic bullet with no primer or powder that allows safe dry-firing and smooth magazine feeding. Have a buddy slip a couple in your magazine at the range and you will really become aware of your "flinch" when the hammer falls on a cap. They aren't expensive...give it a try.

Most Handgun firefights are of a distance of 30 feet and in. Practice as much as you
can. Putting rounds downrange is critical
in becoming accoustomed to your gun. Your grip appeared correct except for the thumbs as mentioned above. Another very nice video by the way.
LarryMReed 2 years ago
got a great drill for you demcad. u need a buddy but this will isolate the reason why you have some errant shots. have your buddy chamber or not chamber a round with out you looking. pull that trigger and u will see how steady u r.
grip..couldnt tell but put your left finger on the front of the trigger guard.
from holster, obviously keep finger off trigger untill target is in your sites. pull and rotate that firearm as quickly as possible towards threat..look up chris costa

I was taught by 2 war veteran my grip.
lesson #1 keep pistol in hand for two weeks and make it become part of your hand and arm.

A cute gun?
If that's your priority then I think you need to reassess things.
DEMCAD 2 years ago
I have found personally (I have a small hand) that a Smith & Wesson M&P 9 mm. with interchangable grip is perfect. Great for small hands, but also great if you have 2 or more people in your family that would use it.
And yes, I concer with Demcad, cute really shouldnt be a factor, but if you are meaning size, the glock can be a bit much some women. Even some men with smaller hands. Demcad makes it look small but that is a big ass gun.
CanadianPatriot1973 2 years ago
Do you guys suggest Glock 19 or a Walther p22. Ammo for the 22 is cheaper but is that a good reason to choose that over a 9mm in these situations?

how much is that 45 ammo? I'm getting my practice 40s&ws for 30-40c a round (when I can find it)
LysSpooner 2 years ago
$25 dollars for 50 rounds. But you can get a better deal at Walmart.
DEMCAD 2 years ago
that's about what I figured. walmart 40s are about 30c a practice round. 45s probably aren't too much higher (when you can get them)
LysSpooner 2 years ago

Keep posting, keep practicing, stack 'em deep!
oldmrelics 2 years ago
the other issue with a glock...is the grips stink (i have a 17L) there is an after mkt company that sells a slip on rubber grip with groves for your fingers...its about 7-10 bucks from places like midway etc...this simple addition keeps your grip consistant time after time and thus will improve your shooting since random pressure changes on the grip will greatly vary the point of impact of the bullet.
9secondsflat 2 years ago
try shooting golf balls...the smaller the target the more one can focus and improve skills...toss them 10 feet out and blast away..a center shot will send the ball flying and the bullet gets stuck in the ball..

whitestar111 2 years ago
I have no problem killing an animal for food. Being extremely poor, personally it's really about saving money. I can spend $20 for a package of meat for one meal at the store, or I can spend $20 for a tag and have around 180+ lbs of meat that can help feed my family for a few months. People harvest nearly 250,000 deer each year in my state. We have one of the highest deer populations in the nation because of money from hunters that go towards conservation and habitat restoration.

whitestar111 2 years ago
My family of 4 had an gross income last year of just over $5000. I bought my little home years ago or we would probably be out on the street or living with family. We help our extended family buy and maintain some chickens, cattle, and a garden. This provides us with vegetables, eggs, cream, and meat. We also harvest wildlife, fish, and wild edibles. It's a way of life for many people over thousands of years. It's a life of balance or starvation...
mojdfiv 2 years ago
u got it bad but i don't have it much better
whitestar111 2 years ago
That's the point I'm trying to make here whitestar is although I don't have a lot of money, were not that bad off because were not heavily dependent on the system. We have learned to make every cent count by becoming as self sufficient as possible while living within our means. And although it seems cruel to many obtaining my own food, on a personal level has saved us a lot of money. If we relied on the solely on the store it would be raman night, every night in my house.
mojdfiv 2 years ago
but farming would not be so bad rather than to kill poor creatures
whitestar111 2 years ago

TheScally6 2 years ago
