  • Ghena has some lovely moments here. I agree with Klytemnestra that she could be effective in the lyric repertory or the more lyrical moments of fierce roles such as Abigaille. I love her "Anch'io dischiuso," sung with lyric tenderness and grace; parts of her Norma are also quite lovely. However, I do wonder if singing so many Turandots ultimately took its toll on her voice. Her voice became heavier and rougher in later years. This kind of sustained lyricism tended to elude her.

  • Grazie per questo carissimo ricodo,mi hà fatto piangere...grazie !

  • I agree that Odabella is very difficult. I am surprised that she thought the role was not very interesting, though. I find her rather fascinating. I love the way Ghena sings the lyric repertory. Listen to how musical she is here, to how artfully she shapes the lines, how she caresses them. Oops... I think she forgot she was supposed to go up to the high C the second time...

  • Beautiful! Brava!

  • Thank you for posting this record. I did not know that she had sung the role only twice.

  • the second time was in Barcelona, in the same year.
