If the music today don't last for its greatness, the 80's is one of those scenes that change everything. The Eighties/New Wave scene is unforgettable that some of the song today revived from it.
@MrBartyBart ha ha ... Love your comment! I was just thinking the same! Although I come to this group quite often... Seriously, WHERE did the time go???? *always 18* :o) Perk!
As much as I dislike Gwen Stefani, if it wasn't for her sub-par remake of this song, I would have never been introduced to the excellence that is Talk Talk. And from there I became aware of the greats of a decade before my own. THIS right here is great music.
YouTube have already stopped people watching this because of copyright reasons, even the U.K one (which I should be able to get) is unavailable. Why don't they put it to a vote? Christ I can see why they didn't, 100% of people would vote for all videos to be available, It's my life! Let me watch it!
What it tries to say is you cannot barcode a wild thing so why do you try to barcode me?
He is looking to each creature and wondering how they live so free and how can he be free of the repetitive sense that he will never be free and yet at the same time he wonders if that is indeed Freedom.
'Its funny how i'm in love with you' Love is freeing but at the same time so so confining.
There seems to be so much debate over this song/video, is it about animal rights?, is it about being trapped in a relationship and wanting freedom?. And the bars over his mouth seem to be down to a dispute over miming to songs. Anyone care to comment cos I've not yet heard a diffinitive explaination, love the song BTW.
This video was Tim Pope's vision of a protest over the lip-synching in songs. It's basically Mark Hollis at the London Zoo and shots from nature documentaries.
Oh my I agree!! The first half were THE BEST ever in music!! 1984 was AWESOME especially!! I do miss those years...80's music framed my entire school experience from early Elementary (1980) to the 1st 1/2 of my Senior Year (1989)! MISS IT ALL!!
1984 the best music year of the 80's, for example:Alphaville-Big in Japan,Talk Talk-It's my life,Bon Jovi-Runaway,Madonna-Like a virgin,Michael Jackson-Thriller...

original also this talk talk video (for the 80's). Mark Holly's voice I think is similiar to Style Council Paul Weller, but deeper.
Mark, please, if you hear me, come back with your spring songs and nature-natural videos!!!!

I read that the video was poking fun at how stupid lip-syncing is by scribbling out his mouth. Notice he never mouths a word in this video.
