@zgtucker3 Yeah, I played timpani in this piece too a few months ago. The beginning is a awesome. The part at 4:25 is definitely one of the most challenging timpani excerpts I've ever played because of the constant tuning that you have to do while you're playing.
I remember being called up by my music director a few days before the concert telling me he needed a third trumpet player for A Copland Tribute and some other pieces. I gladly agreed and excitedly started practicing the pieces the days before the concert. When the concert day came and we played, I literally looked like a doofus because I was in awe of the entire sound with the band. I'm so happy it wasn't noticeable, but it was still a very funny moment.
OMG I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!!! 5:20 is the BEST part of the whole song, I loveee playing that part XD the 1st alto part rocks to this song! Can't wait to perform it at the concertttt :D
This was beautiful. Sounded amazing. My only gripe was in the Appalachian Sring section. I just didn't get that 'oomph' that, to me, the song needs. But the whole thing was great. Loved the begining; very powerful.
Lol, we played this in the Region band my freshman year and we sucked it up soooo bad! We got lost towards the end. C'mon, the freakin Region band?! That's supposed to be some of the best players around! Geez! So sad for such a beautiful piece =/
I love 3:18 where first clarinet is doing the solo. hahaha we're playing this in my middle school symphonic band and we're nowhere as good as this wind orchestra
I'm playing this piece for UIL and our spring concert. Oh yeah, our drum major who is an amazing clarinetist, so sight read that solo in the beginning perfectly! he's a beast!
I wish some more of Lincoln Portrait was incorperated

Tis a gift to be simple
Tis a gift to be free
Tis a gift to be down where we ought to be.
And when we find ourselves in the place just right
We begin the valley of love and delight.

@KnackForMac the trumpet part is actually a solo that needs a mute.

During the trumpet solo at 127, was that person muted???
I could barely hear the soloist...I'm not sure if it was a mute but the trumpet soloist also sounded kinda weird...
Maybe its just because i sit soooo close to our trumpet soloist
deidaraslvr101 2 years ago
Yeah, he was muted. Most likely to add the 'humorous' feeling to his sound.

Download MPEG Streamclip program from a Bittorrent site and use it to separate the audio from the video on this clip.
