  • I wish some more of Lincoln Portrait was incorperated

  • @zgtucker3 Yeah, I played timpani in this piece too a few months ago. The beginning is a awesome. The part at 4:25 is definitely one of the most challenging timpani excerpts I've ever played because of the constant tuning that you have to do while you're playing.

  • I remember being called up by my music director a few days before the concert telling me he needed a third trumpet player for A Copland Tribute and some other pieces. I gladly agreed and excitedly started practicing the pieces the days before the concert. When the concert day came and we played, I literally looked like a doofus because I was in awe of the entire sound with the band. I'm so happy it wasn't noticeable, but it was still a very funny moment.

  • i love when the Eb clarinet goes back and forth with the flutes, it sounds great! love playing this song this year!

  • Tis a gift to be simple

Tis a gift to be free

Tis a gift to be down where we ought to be.

And when we find ourselves in the place just right

We begin the valley of love and delight.

  • Bassoon soli

  • @KnackForMac the trumpet part is actually a solo that needs a mute.

  • the flute solo at the start rocks with the 3rd octave Bflat

  • why is the trumpet muted!?

  • 4:22

    so good.

  • I love the clarinet solo.

  • brass and percussion sound hot as hell. deff a 10/10 song band was incredible. :o

  • oh boy my concerts in 2 weeks and i gotta work on that solo cause im gonna kill the solo if i dont work on it

  • We played this at competition. Got a silver. GO FRESHMEN BAND!

  • in sg we gt this Gold with Honours!

  • We are doing this song right now in my Wind Ensemble class. GO BASSOON 1!!!!!!!

  • Same here!

  • During the trumpet solo at 127, was that person muted???

I could barely hear the soloist...I'm not sure if it was a mute but the trumpet soloist also sounded kinda weird...

Maybe its just because i sit soooo close to our trumpet soloist

  • Yeah, he was muted. Most likely to add the 'humorous' feeling to his sound.

  • OMG I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!!! 5:20 is the BEST part of the whole song, I loveee playing that part XD the 1st alto part rocks to this song! Can't wait to perform it at the concertttt :D

  • i love this piece! symphonic (band that i'm in) is playing this in the spring concert <3

  • This was beautiful. Sounded amazing. My only gripe was in the Appalachian Sring section. I just didn't get that 'oomph' that, to me, the song needs. But the whole thing was great. Loved the begining; very powerful.

  • Lol, we played this in the Region band my freshman year and we sucked it up soooo bad! We got lost towards the end. C'mon, the freakin Region band?! That's supposed to be some of the best players around! Geez! So sad for such a beautiful piece =/

  • brav0!!

  • Woo we played this today, AHS sucks XD..cept for band! But there are sum who I wish to kill cough cough trumpets in concert band cough cough...

  • We're playing this song!!!! GO AMS!!!

The piccolo player is my hero.

  • has anyone seen "a bernstein tribute" by clare grundman??

  • I love 3:18 where first clarinet is doing the solo. hahaha we're playing this in my middle school symphonic band and we're nowhere as good as this wind orchestra

  • We'll get there. :D

  • We WILL get there.

  • fasho ;D

  • Does anyone know where i could get an mP3 of this?

  • Download MPEG Streamclip program from a Bittorrent site and use it to separate the audio from the video on this clip.

  • I'm playing this piece for UIL and our spring concert. Oh yeah, our drum major who is an amazing clarinetist, so sight read that solo in the beginning perfectly! he's a beast!

  • Dude.. Woah. Who are you Aeropostale?? We go to the same school.

xD And we are both in the same band.

  • Im the one who always wears the Aeropostale shirts and the blue Aeropostale Hoodie. Im also a flute player in 6th period. :)

  • Im playing this for this years concert at River Ridge

  • we played this last year at SCLHS in MN!! w00t
