I have owned Jack Russells for over 20 years now and what you need to know is.......that with any puppy, ESPECIALLY this kind, what they learn, what they get used to, how behaved they are IS LEARNED between 8 and 16 weeks. I have found that *and don't laugh* if you can find a puppy kindergarten, it's GREAT. You go along also, of course and your pup is tossed with with pups of all breeds and cats and noises of all kinds, etc. Best of all worlds. They get used to these things and always remember.

Hi I've had a jack russel for a long time, two actually. :D You should probably read up on the internet about them, but some things I've learned are that, well.. they're VERY hyper. So there are some pros and cons. Pros are they're very smart, playful and loyal dogs. They're quick to learn, and love their owners a whole lot. They can do a few sports like racing, earthdog trials, agility, obidience... Some of the downsides are they bark.. a lot. And depending on your life, their energy can be..

a downside too because they need a nice long walk or run EVERY DAY and because they were hunting, digging dogs, they like to dig lots of holes. They can be very annoying, hyper dogs if they aren't trained and exersized properly, and if they are, they make amazing pets.

Well. There's really no specific time you should walk them, just have them in the yard and they'll love it. They're a lot of work though. Very hyper. I own a JRT, i take for a walk at least 3 times a day and she loves it.

Their are very high energy little dogs, they also need alot of stimulation to keep they happy otherwise i notice she gets bored and chews on my dad's old slipper or anything else she can chew

Bitches are very different from dogs. Less aggressive and calmer. Walk twice a day, but they need space to run around in and go crazy without a lead on. My gentle Molly eats dried dog and is very lovling. Dogs tend to be rather protective of owners. JRT tend to be healthier than pedigree dogs and very robust for their size. I love mine very much. Hope you get a good one.

Any dog that bark when you aren't at home has separation anxiety. It doesn't matter what breed they are. It all depends on how you train them. It's best to train them to stay in a dog crate while you're out of the house. Good Luck!

The crate method works very well, especially on younger dogs. I'd highly recommend reading more. Also, some dogs find it comforting if you turn the radio on NPR or some other talk radio channel so they can hear people talking and don't feel so alone. You also may want to consider adopting an adult dog that has already been trained. My first dog was a former show dog, and she was as quiet and as well behaved as any dog I've ever seen since.
